Nokia fights back against Qualcomm

Nokia and Qualcomm are duking it out again, this time with Nokia claiming patent infringement on six GSM/WCDMA and CDMA2000 chipsets, in an effort to counter two of Qualcomm’s earlier patent complaints. This is the first time Nokia’s fought back against Qualcomm over the last 19 months, having weathered a storm of 11 litigations total, the bulk of which have regarded GSM patents. If RIM’s patent battles are any indication, Nokia may have a long road left to endure. Qualcomm dinged Nokia for $20 mil back in April, and at this rate, it won’t be long until someone will have to pay up again.
