Balsillie toots the Wi-Fi horn

The aforementioned JP Morgan conference which Jim Balsillie is attending has started, and his keynote revolved around the coming of Wi-Fi. It’s no big surprise - RIM’s been talking about it for awhile now. The only bit that’s especially new is that we can expected a converged Wi-Fi BlackBerry by the “back end of this year”. Jim goes over some of his reasons for not hopping on the Wi-Fi bandwagon earlier, primarily because he considered it overhyped. But since any unsubstantiated hype has had a chance to die down, and still nobody can shut up about it, the timing to get Wi-Fi out there is just about right.
