Hey America: How’s your Curves? (Updated!)

Team America

With BlackBerry Cool HQ based in the US’ often frigid northern annex (read: Canada), it sometimes becomes hard to stay on the pulse of American carrier launches of BlackBerry devices. And with two of our most trusted US liaisons — BG and Engadget — offering conflicting reports as to the specific imminence of one BlackBerry Curve on AT&T’s network, the confusion seems to have doubled.

That’s why we’re asking you, trusted American reader, to keep us informed. On your way into work today, did you just happen to swing into an AT&T store only to behold a BlackBerry Curve, shiny and new, waiting to be taken home like a wide-eyed puppy, or was there nothing? Have you received an email notification? Post a comment and let us poor Canadians know what’s going down on the streets.

Update: Since we forgot to run a Weekly Contest today, and because so many readers posted a comment to keep us informed, we’re going to give them all a free game from Bplay. Those of you who didn’t take the time to post a comment and keep your friends at BBCool in the know, for shame. For our Canadian readers who couldn’t possibly have known anything, and thus didn’t post, sorry (hey, you just had a four-day week, don’t complain).

I am with Verizon and I am not eligible for an upgrade but after some talking and haggling I have ordered my 8830 for $337 before tax. I would LOVE to be able to own the Curve but, just like the iPhone, it seems manufacturers love GSM. I just can’t find it in myself to give up Verizon’s great network service for a device… but ohh, so tempting.

Just got off the phone with a rep at the Times Square ATT/Cingular store in NYC. The rep said that the store was supposed to receive a Blackberry Curve shipment today but that no such shipment has arrived and she didn’t believe there was any chance of a delivery later today, Friday, May 25. When I asked if it would be available on Monday or Tuesday of next week, she said she just didn’t know.

Zero. Most current speculation is next week – the very end of May or the very beginning of June.

How about sending a little Canadian Curvaceous love down the US? I’d be happy to have an unlocked Rogers Curve. Can you set us up Mr. BlackberryCool?

Same here, NOTHING! Most likely it got pushed back until after the weekend. My AT&T hook informed me that the iphone has been pushed back a bit , and is most likely the reason for the delay in rolling out the Curve for the long weekend. He said it can drop at anytime, and then reminded me of the nonsense that went on with the Pearl launch. If I had to guess, I’d say we’ll see it by the end of next week! Aghh, another week!

    Ryan,

At&t’s network (GSM) is just as good if not better than what your hopes and dreams tell you vzw has. There are many good reasons why “manufacturers love GSM”, and why manufacturers and consumers ignore cdma, and why service providers are taking old cdma networks and upgrading them to global standard GSM networks.

No Curve in the AT&T store on Wall Street in Manhattan today. No word on when it’s coming.
