Man, it sounds like they’re taking over the planet à la black and white 50s sci-fi movie. A recent report from IDC is telling us to look at huge growth in hybrid device usage among corporate customers all over the globe.
According to IDC’s latest mobile enterprise device usage forecast, worldwide shipments of corporate-liable mobile devices will experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 54% to reach more than 82 million units shipped in 2011.
Right now most of the business for converged mobile devices in enterprise is in the U.S., but Western Europe is being forecast as the next big consumer. Emerging corporate growth in Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia are looking to increase the market for devices like BlackBerrys. Interestingly enough, Japan’s focus on mobile tech remains primarily in the consumer market, meaning converged mobile devices are less likely to push into that territory. Considering BlackBerry’s reputation as a corporate provider above all else, this report certainly means good business in the years to come.
