PC World has released their top 100 best products (not just mobile folks, this is everything technophilic) of the year, and the BlackBerry 8800 is number 5. While there may be some disagreement with their choices, nobody’s laid into the 8800… yet. The BlackBerry was out-done by Google Apps, the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the Nintendo Wii, and Verizon FiOS, a new fiberoptic internet service. What do you guys say? Should the 8800 be higher on the list? Lower?

I think a Top 5 finish is high enough, although I think the Curve deserves a higher ranking (until something else is released later this year). The Intel Core 2 Duo should drop, as should FiOS. Google Apps is deservedly numero uno, although I’m not sure how GMail and Maps for Mobile ended up so low in the pecking order.
Needless to say, I think releasing a ‘Best of’ list less than halfway through the year is a wee bit premature, but then again, I suppose that’s an easy way to make a buck (as seen by my (and your) accessing PC World’s list).
The 8800 being #5 is a crock even to the biggest Blackberry fan boy.
RIM is probably one of their bigger advertisers thus ranking them so high. I could probably live with the Curve being top 5 but the 8800 is nothing special.
