Randall Stephenson, iPhone prophet, became the freshly-crowned king god CEO of AT&T. After usurping succeeding the throne of Chairman of the Board from Ed Whitacre, Stephenson will have the not-so-monumental task of proving his worth by how well he can surf on another company’s popularity. There are a few challenges that await him, though.
He’ll have to finish the integration of BellSouth, an $86 billion purchase, and the AT&T long-distance business, bought for $16 billion in 2005, while trying to grow revenue in a wireless business that’s facing heavy competition.
