While everyone on this side of the Pacific has been nattering about Wi-Fi handoff, China decided they’d just 1-UP us and do it with their own TD-SCDMA network first. Ingenius bastards. Nexperia’s T3G 7208 sports full, seamless call handoff between EDGE, GSM, GPRS and TD-SCDMA. The only thing left to do is shunt the technology to the manufacturers, and you’ll be seeing dual mode handsets in no time. Despite delays, China’s still all about the 3G. Building off of 2.5G networks is a pretty sound way of making that transition. So, uh, how many networks does the BlackBerry 8830 run on again? 3? Huh. That’s alright. I guess.

Will the 8830 work in China now? I am going there next week and need a phone that works both in the US and in China. Isn’t their GSM different from American GSM?
