Pearl 2? Pah. You mean the Komet.

KometI always had a soft spot for Mortal Kombat, so the ‘K’ really doesn’t bug me that much. BGR continues bringing some crazy good news today, now busting out details about the impending Pearl 2, now code-named the Komet. Those of you who haven’t gotten a Curve yet, you might want to keep that checkbook in your pocket for now, because the Komet could just have what you’re looking for. Top features are a Curveaceous 3.5mm headphone jack, external MicroSD slot, Wi-Fi, and a 3.2 megapixel camera.

* 3.2 megapixel camera
* Flash improvement and 6x digital zoom
* 3.5 mm Headset Jack
* External MicroSD slot
* SureType device
* New keypad technology
* 240×260 LCD display
* Wi-Fi capable
* 64MB of memory
* Streaming media support
* 4.5 hours of talk time/15 days of standby
* Stereo Bluetooth
* Windows Media DRM & MTP
* New metallic colors (metallic red, blue, gold, and black according to BG – ed.)
* “Top and rear loudspeaker port”
* Voice Notes enhancements
* A new battery door latch
* “Improved Front Receiver Porting”
* Improved Lanyard design
* Improved Mic with wind protection
* Motion Lock
* Improved SIM card holder
* High speed USB
* Improved mechanical design, and build quality

    Komet.

    I think that the code names are individual to the carrier, to help track down who’s leaking what where.

    (Since, most Carriers want an individual OS for every device.)

    So, Komet’s name is a leak on one of the carriers. Let’s say Verizon. Therefor, the AT&T version of the Pearl 2 isn’t going to be called Komet, but something else. Let’s say Juptar.

    I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on getting the current pearl (I have T-Mobile), or if I should wait for the Komet/Comet to come out, I was also wondering how long it would be until the pearl is out. I think, on the grounds of the Pearl 2 VS. The iPhone, that the iPhone is more all-around average, but more focused on multimedia and having as many features as possible, not worrying about complete performance, and the Pearl 2 seems like it is in a bit of a different category, more of a multifunction device, it is more focused on function performance/performance enhancing features, and it still has amazing features.

    Why does all BB’s have poor display? 65k colors only, but not 260k+ like any other new device?
