[...] The fine folks at BlackBerry Sync have heard that Telus will be getting the fabled BlackBerry Pearl 2 before New Years. The jury’s still out on whether the Pearl 2 is going to be the BlackBerry 8130 with modest upgrades such as a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a 2 megapixel camera, or if it’s a beefier device with Wi-Fi.
I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on getting the current pearl (I have T-Mobile), or if I should wait for the Komet/Comet to come out, I was also wondering how long it would be until the pearl is out. I think, on the grounds of the Pearl 2 VS. The iPhone, that the iPhone is more all-around average, but more focused on multimedia and having as many features as possible, not worrying about complete performance, and the Pearl 2 seems like it is in a bit of a different category, more of a multifunction device, it is more focused on function performance/performance enhancing features, and it still has amazing features.

Komet.

I think that the code names are individual to the carrier, to help track down who's leaking what where.

(Since, most Carriers want an individual OS for every device.)

So, Komet's name is a leak on one of the carriers. Let's say Verizon. Therefor, the AT&T version of the Pearl 2 isn't going to be called Komet, but something else. Let's say Juptar.
