AT&T to offer unlimited family texting?

AT&T So, does AT&T know the meaning of unlimited texting? We’ll give ‘em the benefit of the doubt. Engadget’s got a tip that AT&T will be offering unlimited texting between 5 phones for $30 a month if you’re already on a family plan, starting June 18th. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal, if it happens.

Doesn’t VZW already have that on its Americas Choice Select plans??? That sounds even better!

Verizon Wireless offers this option for the price but it isn’t limited to only the family plan. It also gives you unlimited pix/flix too. It gives unlimited messaging to anyone on any US network. Sounds like Verizon Wireless has the upper hand.

Yeah, you’re right. The cheapest Verizon deal I could find for unlimited texting was the America’s Choice Select plan, which is $60 a month and isn’t limited to the family, which already puts it under AT&T’s minimum $70 family plan, nevermind the extra $30 for unlimited texting. The $40 difference between the Verizon and AT&T deal is due to unlimited voice on the AT&T network, as far as I can gather.
