If the BlackBerry 8330 isn’t getting GPS, RIM might want to rethink that option. It turns out China is hurting for affordable location-based services, and for all the talk at WES, they could be in a position to fill that gap. They’re still getting their feet wet in Oriental waters, but making a good impression early on in a new market could set the tone for the rest of their efforts in China. If the BlackBerry 8130 was packing some GPS, then RIM could cash in on the demand with a reasonably priced handset, but even with Wi-Fi alone, you can get some decent location services working.

tron: @bbunderground Telus will do it on a three year, though... Sigh. Probably no 8GB MicroSD card either.
tron: @CoffeeDaze @ASacco I agree, although cheaper than the iPhone would have brought more hype. What is Krackow smoking though?
tron: should Verizon give away the BlackBerry Storm? I kinda thing $199 is a pretty good deal... http://tinyurl.com/6dwjyc
tron: @CoffeeDaze akk! Water wouldn't have been that bad, but a BB can't handle puke and mudd.
tron: @CoffeeDaze what did you do to it? It might be reparable...

Any update on this? Do we know if Blackberry has moved ahead and allowed their gps enabled phones like the 8310 to be used in places like SHANGHAI?
