Hooboy, it does exist. It’s been a long, hard waiting period for Verizon customers who wanted some sweet, CDMA BlackBerry Pearl goodness. According to these snatched images from the Boy Genius, it looks like RIM has delivered in a big way, with none other than the BlackBerry 8130 — which looks a lot like the BlackBerry Pearl 2. We’re talking 3.5 mm headset jack, 2 Mpx camera, and MicroSD support (is it external? Why no MicroSDHC?), all rapped up in a neat 1xEVDO package. Although, without the rumored Wi-Fi and 3.2Mpx camera in the Komet, you might call it the BlackBerry Pearl 1.5.
Verizon customers (and maybe Sprint too?) are set to receive the device sometime in November, 3 months after the GSM Pearl 2’s launch (makes perfect sense). So tell us guys, does it look like it was worth the wait?

I thought Pearl 2 should be 3mpx or I am wrong?
Browser,
Last I heard they were aiming for 3Mpx in the Pearl 2, but would likely have to settle for 2.3Mpx. This reminds me a lot of the Original Pearl release, when they were trying to squeeze 2 in, but ended up with 1.3Mpx.
Also, I just realized that the Komet (GSM Pearl 2) is supposed to have Wi-Fi.
So I’ve changed the title to reflect the fact that this doesn’t seem as full featured as the Pearl that AT&T and Rogers are getting.
It kind of seems like it took them a year to make a slightly improved, CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 1.
Sorry Verizon customers
I don’t understand, you guys are a Blackberry website, but you get all your juicy news from BGR. Why should I come here for BB news? Can you at least tell me which wifi chips BB uses?
I am not subscribed to BGR so I come here
And not all the news (I think) are from there.
It’s true, Jake, that BG gets his mitts on some pretty big juicy details, and we certainly wish we’d get the same leaks. If you’re looking for the inside scoop, obviously check out BGR, but like Favorite Browser says, there’s plenty of news we pull up from other sources that you won’t find there.
Why be sorry for Verizon customers? because they don’t have wifi? are you saying that because the GSM pearl will have EDGE (sucks balls) and wifi it’s more fully featured? but then GSM won’t have GPS…
evdo is a perfectly acceptable tradeoff for wifi… especially if it means sticking in GPS
FYI EDGE does not ’suck balls’.
“especially if it means sticking in GPS”
No indication in this post that this will have GPS. And if it did (from RIM), Verizon would disable it anyway and Sprint would have it. Just like 7130, 8830, …
when will this come out for tmobile?
I have been browsing and perusing trying to decide which upgrade to choose and the guy at my local store told me to wait until November for this BB. I have had it not even 2 days and I am in love.
What more can be said?
Y’all are hilarious to read…thanks for the info and the fun!
I am a Sprint customer. And not all that satisfied, but would be when I get this phone. The only question I have is does Sprint offer the EDGE/GPRS that T-mobile and AT&T do?
hey, what do you guys think of suretype?
