Functionality
As for accuracy, both the 8800 and GPS Snitch tended to be reliable, although the odd location would be way out of line. Reception was sometimes slow, but rarely stopped information from getting through. Apparently the GPS Snitch requires GSM coverage, so make sure that’s not an issue before taking the dive. Blip sends out your BlackBerry 8800’s GPS coordinates at regular intervals, either every 5 minutes, 15, half an hour or an hour, which is a great selection. We would even include a 1-minute update for when we’re seriously on the move, that that might bite into battery life pretty quick. Unfortunately, the GPS Snitch doesn’t share the same updating function yet, so you have manually check its location and its location history isn’t as fully recorded.
Now, we wanted to see just how practical Blip would be in extraneous circumstances, so we armoured the 8800 in an OtterBox, packed up the GPS Snitch and hit the paintball battlefield. We thought maybe we could use the Snitch for some objective-based games, but a combination of poor reception and long load times didn’t make it worthwhile. Regardless, we had the camera and everything there, so we wouldn’t come home empty-handed.
(I lied, the GPS Snitch and Blip don’t do traffic or directions - I was just trying to say it sits in your car.)

FYI: Felony in California if you put it on/in a car w/o the owner knowing. Yup, many stalkers were just seriously disappointed.

It can work both ways good and bad at the same time. I guess it would be cool to see where in your city or block your pals are. However, if your boss knowns that you puts Blip on your BlackBerry he can see where you are as well. Kind of kills that opportunity to grab a long lunch break when you are out of the office working.
