Sorry for the typo, the 2nd hand-writing recognition license is for Myscript from Vision Optics. Anoto has a pattern license.

I believe some clarification is required here. The hardware is $299 and the subscription is to cover the costs of licensing and hosting. The solution uses 2 handwriting recognition licenses from Anoto and Microsoft. If you purchased them separately, how much would you pay? Also, no one is discussing the backend hosted web-site that hosts unlimited scripted and translated notes. How much do you pay for secure, hosted data storage? This product is available for your choice of 11 different languages by simply changing an option on the BlackBerry. No wired PC interface required when used with a BlackBerry! Please understand and state the facts before commenting or discrediting the price. This product is not a gimicky toy it is a useful tool!

Gads! First you pay over four hundred smackers for the hardware, then they expect you to pay a yearly subscription fee just to use the software???

Solutions In Motion, get a clue! People do not want to be forced to subscribe to something that costs over a hundred a year to maintain, also not something as so persnickety as handwriting-to-text recognition software.

That pen had better be made out of either magnesium or titanium with thick case sidewalls and electronics-not-second-tier for me to buy this product.

Sometimes I think some of the new software firms popping up these days are newly arrived from the business-to-business vertical markets where a lot of proprietary products continue to linger and competition is virtually nil.

Can anyone say “governmental contractors.”
