I really do not see the iPhone being a realistic, competitive product to the Blackberry as it is a totally different animal aimed at an entirely different market. The iPhone is glitzy and flashy but when it comes to the nuts and bolts of doing business, it is useless. Can you get your corporate email on it? NO. Can you sync-up all your valuable Outlook components and turn it into your portable brief case? NO. The only thing you can do on it that you can’t do on the Blackberry is stream (and that IS on my wish list to RIM).

Overall, with all of the current BB features, I don’t see another gadget out there that is going to do much for me. When you consider that I can send and receive company email, browse the web, listen to my favorite tunes, watch videos (stored on a media card), and even locate the nearest Starbucks…good grief, the only thing left is for it to pour me a beer and give me a kiss on the cheek and that sure isn’t happening by Christmas.

So from my fair and balanced point of view I don’t see anything topping a BB on the wish list of a dedicated and hardened road warrior, it just ain’t out there.

I would like a Blackberry Pearl 8130 to replace my three year old dying Samsung I have from Sprint.
Please also make Sprint have good customer service. It is VERY bad right now. Also please make my Sprint reception improve. I really don’t like being on the train talking to a friend and then I lose the call while everyone else who has different cell phone carriers keeps on talking. I’ve been very good this year. Please Santa?

Fortunately, RIM has been hard at work pumping out new models and adding significant features to current designs. WiFi anyone? GPS? All good stuff, and judging by their sales numbers RIM has got the formula down pat. Only a scant few of these competing mobiles are contenders for business use. And when you stack them up side-by-side with the Blackberry (whichever flavor you choose), they remain in the Blackberry’s shadow.
