A helpful reader has pointed us towards a Verizon download link for OS 4.2.1 for the BlackBerry 8703e, which should let you CDMA customers get in on the new Facebook application. Although the patch is “technically” for Verizon customers, it should work on any CDMA 8703e if you delete the vendor.xml file from your the Desktop Manager’s application loader directory first. Speaking of which, be sure you’re using Desktop Manager 4.2 service pack 2, available for download here. Thanks Jon!

Will this work with Sprint 8703e version?
Rich, this does work on the Sprint 8703e. I upgraded mine about 2 weeks ago and it has worked flawlessly ever since. I would highly recommend it.
Cant silent the ringer when incoming txt comes in. Happend right after the upgrade. Anyway I can downgrade back to the previous software?
Another successful upgrade on a Sprint 8703e. Thanks for the tip on deleting vendor.xml file… Worked like a charm!
What if I forget to remove the vendor.xml file? Is there any way to remove it?
What about PPC Mac users? I can’t run an .exe file which the 4.2 OS download link refers to. Any options for us mac users who want to upgrade?
Hi!
Has anyone experienced this on the BB8703e from Bell Mobility. Does this OS 4.2 offer voice dialing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
