Free BlackBerry video conversion

Stefano just spotted a free video converter for BlackBerry called MediaCell. This app converts anything in a popular video format (AVI, MPG, MPEG, ASF, MOV, RM, RMVB, 3GP, AMR, FLV, FLIC, SWand others) to MP4 for easy viewing on your BlackBerry. If you’re looking to watch some movies on the go, but don’t feel like shelling out the bills for a premium converter, this one might be worth giving a shot. Grab the free download over here. Turns out this app is totally broken and not worth your time to download. I guess if it’s too good to be true, it usually is.

Take a look at the comments on They are split between flowery prose obviously entered by the authors and product bashing by real users.

Desktop Manager 4.3 includes video conversion to BB formats. Can’t remember all the details of what/when/how but as it will be a freebie download from RIM, I don’t see why it’s worth spending $$$ now unless you just can’t wait to show everyone your really funny youtube video..

I downloaded, installed and tried this app. I do not understand why so many people say it does not work. I converted two 700 MB xvid movies into 66 MB MPG4 movies, copied them to my Curve and everything worked fine.

I downloaded it a couple of days ago. No problem converting avi & mpg files. It works a treat & it’s free.

bertie bassett is correct. The Media Manager that comes with Desktop Manager v4.3 will convert & optimise video for the BlackBerry.

The download is ok. But during conversion, it keeps saying decoding?

How long does it take to decode and actually convert??
