I like the idea of the gateway but would have loved to see it transmit the video also.

Currently, I'm into watching movies on my Curve and am using Rove Mobile's BB Viewer to view video and a standard 1/8 Mini Jack to Stereo cable to transmit the audio through my receiver.

This little device is going to allow me to connect to my audio reciever in my closet and wirelessly stream the audio while my mini pc (mac mini) underneath my tv is using rove mobile to stream the video

As long as there is no sync issues with the device I'm definitely interested in picking one of these up.

i am 40 and pretty tech savy but i think this could fly with the younger crowd.

i think if it were 29.99 or 39.99 everyone would buy it as an impulse / just to have even though they dont really need or use it.

i am on the fence on this one, leaning toward NO

i have a 4gb card full of music, pics and movies and await the 4.5 OS so i can get a 8gb or 16gb card so i can get more music and movies

i would like to hear the quality of the sound also before getting one.

i just dont see it fitting into my lifestyle but possibly for others.

overall a good effort on Rims part on adding dynamic products /accessories

now if we could get a 5mp cam , 3g,wifi, better browser and html email that would make alot of people happier

My input on this one will be short..The stereo gateway is gonna turn out to be one of those "novelty" items, BUT with that being said..Simon seems to be under the impression that novelty items don't sell....I think in this case it will...it's a novelty item that will sell due to the fact it has a RIM logo on it, it's a techy device, RIM products seem to carry the appeal that you "HAVE TO HAVE IT"..therefore it will sell, even if after 6 months people will be saying to themselves...why did I even buy this thing?..and that price tag can be dropped as well...some places are offering it for $69.95 pre order.

I think its a good idea. You don't see any other cellphone makers with the idea, at least not to my knowledge. Most people today want a wireless solution and this provides just that. Reasonable in price in my opinion. And as Paul said, its easier to replace the gateway than the jack in ones phone. I'm sold on the idea.

My point in the previous post was that I can use the gateway in conjunction with my bluetooth headset. Something I can't currently do because the plug takes presidence over the bluetooth when it's plugged in.

The best case for the Remote Stereo Gateway in my opinion has nothing to do with how you will use it. I believe that it will be how you sync with the bluetooth that will make the difference. It is my belief that the Gateway will allow you to use your bluetooth headset without interruption to the music from the gateway. I hope that this is the case because it will be difficult to disconnect from it to answer calls with the handset. Of course if the music does stop so you can make a call, it would not be a big deal to start it again afterwards. I can see myself using this everywhere.

One more thing that has me sold is that you won't be putting stress on the physical jack on the Blackberry. I had to replace one of mine because the jack had torn from the board inside when I was on the bus. It will be easier to replace $80 then to replace a unit.
