The next iteration of BlackBerry-compatible memory cards that was peeped back at CES, is due to hit shelves shortly for a cool $179.00. It’ll be coming with the same USB adapter as the 8 GB card, as well as the SD card adapter. It’s a solid step up in both capacity and pricetag, but more importantly the memory card expands the BlackBerry’s multimedia capabilities. At 12 GB, it’s not out of the question to get several full-length movies loaded up on your BlackBerry.

“it’s not out of the question to get several full-length movies loaded up on your BlackBerry.”
You might want to check on how you are encoding your videos. A 90 minute movie is easily under 250MB. So with nothing else on the card you can get about 48 movies on a 12GB card, which is a whole lot more then ’several’.
Wtf!! Our bb can only handle 4 gigs anyway. Might as well b a 100 gig. Pos capacity
Will my 8300 work with 8GB SDHC cards?
12GB is quite excessive really, I dunno who would use that much, even with all the TV shows and movies and music I have on my device I only use a 4GB card…but to each his own, if 12GB is needed or wanted…enjoy! lol
it’s funny but the comment from Blatze reminded me of the time I got my first Compaq 386 20e with its 100MB of HD space. At the time, I couldn’t even begin to imagine how I could possibly ever fill it up. That was 1988!
Today, my 8Gb DDR2 x64 quad core Phenom 9600 machine with it’s 1.5Tb of machine of RAID 0+1 drive seem like it’s barely enough to get by.
Basically:”If you provide the space, They’ll fill it up!”. (And at $179.00 12Gb is quite a deal for a flash drive.)
I’d read speculation that the 4.5 OS might support >4GB MicroSD cards, but I think 12GB support seems unlikely. For all intensive purposes it’s just unusable excess capacity.
how much will it cost?
I would love it buy this card if it works with my BlackBerry 8300. 12GB is quite big and will be very handy to carry data in my device!!
Yeah! How much will that $179.00 memory card cost?
my Sprint 8130 (pearl2) supports the 8gb I have right now just fine. I’ll buy the 12 gb card the day it’s available – then my BlackBerry will have more space than my 8gb ipod touch
Com on guys – 12gb isnt that much. I have 15gb of music on my laptop – so to be able to nearly copy all that to my mobile device is good news!
Well the 8310 BB curve is capable up to a 32 gb micro sd card so you must have an older one.
Really, 12GB is not all that much, I’ve got about 40GB of music and 90GB of videos (wich could in essence be reencoded for the blackberry screen, but still would surpass the 12GB mark).
Anyone know if the 8310 will support the 12G microSD card? Thanks.
So will this truly work on my BB 8310?
Anyone know any updates on when this will actually come out?
Any one know that it will work on my BB 8310??? and any updates on when this will actually come out?
HI THERE WHY WAIT FOR THE 12 GB MICRO SD CARD WHEN YOU CAN BUY A 16 GB MICRO SD CARD FROM YOUR COMPUTER STORE
Great stuff. Nice to read some well written posts. A long way between them.
