[...] Last week we talked a bit about going where no BlackBerrys had gone before, mostly to hilariously dangerous consequences. Of course, not all the places you’ve taken your BlackBerry are threats to its structural integrity - maybe you’ve shot out a few e-mails from the Saraha, or taken a call from Mount Everest (I hear the reception’s pretty good), or grabbed a few snaps in the Arctic with your Curve. Wherever you’ve been, let’s hear the most exotic place you’ve used your BlackBerry. The winner will get 6 months of Gold service from WorldMate Live to set them up on their next trip. [...]

A coworker and I were boarding an airplane together a few months back. As he stepped from the little tunnel-thingy onto the aircraft he tried to put his 8703 in his pants pocket.

Well, he missed and the thing bounced once, twice and then fell in between the 4 inch gap and dropped to the tarmac 15 or so feet down. Of course it popped into a few pieces. Everybody around us was amazed at the bad luck. It looked like the old "Price is Right" game called PLINKO.

The flight attendants had a baggage handler get the pieces and after a good wipedown he popped it back together and the darn thing started right up- No Problem. I wish I had a pallet of them on me, because we could have sold half of them right there on the flight. A few of the people around us saw or heard what had happened and he had to get it out three or four times just to turn it on and show it off. I think he'll keep that device forever.

I was skateboarding in an emptied out swimming pool with phone in pocket (as always for safety in case I fall and can't get out) and loose my footing a good 15 feet above ground (13 foot deep pool + 2 in above the edge) and land fairly close to the flat bottom, right on the blackberry. I ended up with a blackberry shaped bruise and a cracked case, luckily nothing more.

My brother in law who does IT work in the Baltimore area told me that one day coming back to work from lunch, he was running across the street & his BlackBerry fell off his beltclip but he didn't notice it until he was on the other side of the street. He then realized that he didn't have enough time to get it due to the 18 wheel big rig that was coming down the street. The BlackBerry was ran over by the big rig & he thought for sure that the BlackBerry was destroyed. Low & behold it only had a scratch on the screen. That's it. It still works.

Here is your winner right here...

http://members.cox.net/alexlogvin/badbb.JPG

Last year one of our BlackBerry users lost his BlackBerry in a canal. His job is to help maintain the canal system in our city.. a month later he was doing a canal dryup, and was in the same area he had dropped it... and found the device. He pulled it out and snapped us a picture, and sent it on over. He asked if we wanted it back for parts...

"NO".

I never found out what goop it was on there.. fish eggs is the popular theory.

My Curve was less than 24 hours out of the box, when it got hit with dollop of garlic bean dip. The juices went right in through the track ball hole and it started making really cool sounds and freaking out. The dip got all up in under the keyboard and on the screen.

So I took it apart and cleaned it out. Pick here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/olivermoffat/2084411704/

I have shaky, clumsy fingers, so I wasn't able to get it back together again very well. Now the face plate isn't flush against the body, and so you really have to click that trackball hard if you want some action.

I carried a 957 for years and never had a problem like this. I was surprised by how cheap the Curve felt when I popped it open.

BTW, I have a co-worker who smashed the glass on a JesusPhone when it dropped on the floor. I will post pictures if there are any other sickos out there like me who get off on pretty pictures of busted phones.

The juices went right in through the track ball hole and it started making really cool sounds and freaking out. The dip got all up in under the keyboard and on the screen.

So I took it apart and cleaned it out. Pick here:

I have shaky, clumsy fingers, so I wasn’t able to get it back together again very well. Now the face plate isn’t flush against the body, and so you really have to click that trackball hard if you want some action.
