When we took the time earlier in the week to compare Rogers’ iPhone and BlackBerry voice and data rates, we were surprised at how well the iPhone 3G fared. Comparing AT&T’s iPhone and BlackBerry plans, however, we’re surprised by the similarities: unless you need visual voicemail, there is absolutely no difference between AT&T’s plans. This is actually bad news for 3G iPhone buyers, because it means that AT&T is now charging an extra $20 dollars for unlimited SMS when they offered 200 free SMS with iPhone 1.0. Sometimes parity isn’t so wonderful.

You didn’t put a watermark on your images, Doug? People gonna steal them again.
Are you happy now, Aaron? ARE YOU HAPPY, NOW?
Those watermarks could be so easily Photoshopped … they should really be bigger and go over the text, but be very transparent … like 5% or 10%
Come on Doug, get in the game!
Why don’t we focus on the good, like my impressive photoshopped main image?
Haters
AT&T did NOT included unlimited SMS on iPhone v1.0. Their package came with unlimited DATA and 200 SMS.
Hank: Looks like Doug corrected the mistake. I really blame his sources for misleading him.
Other than that - I think that the iPhone 3G draw will suck at the BlackBerry users rather than the Everyday Consumers, since it’s an easy switch for a BlackBerry user regarding price (i.e. no extra charge) whereas if you’re an everyday user, you have to pay MORE to get it!
Wow. Well, this doesn’t help my decision at all…
The other thing to remember is that there ARE other ways of getting so-called “visual voicemail”. Most self-respecting voicemail plans have something comparable that enables one to access messages directly from a pda (like gotvmail and “play it on mobile”). Of course, this will only apply to business users like myself who use their pda as one item in a lengthy and convoluted communication chain.
Aside from that, it really all comes down to interface preference.
Well, if you are a starving student, trying to get the basic functionalities such as email, internet and phone connectivity at the cheapest possible price, which one would you recommend?
I would appreciate a clear-cut answer to that.
BlackBerry is the best!
