I purchased the BB 8350i the day it was released…so far they have had to exchange it twice, funny thing is I am currently waiting on the third one to arrive. HORRIBLE echo!! People constantly tell me to take it off “speakerphone” however I’m not on speakerphone!! Nextel is really falling behind on quality and has the worse customer service on the planet. Nextel can say goodbye to my Business Premier account effective immediately. I don’t like to receive messages at 4 in the morning when someone sent them to me the day before at 4 in the AFTERNOON!!

Couldn’t handle it anymore- just sent back the 8350- I wanted to like it , but just fought with it every day. slow as “poop” delayed messages, horrific echo on every call. Plus the more I tohought about it the more peeved I got paying additional $10 for 2 way, so I went back to regular Nextel for now- I heard a rumor that a new iphone is in the works and possibly slated for a summer release.

good luck to all who keep the not ready for prime time 8350-
I’ll look at it when the blackberry can really support the mac.

My 8350 went back…just too many issues with messaging, contacts, and the aweful data rate.. I switched to a “regular” 8330 Curve and couldnt be happier.. Works like a charm…Our gov’t rep told us that there has been a pretty high return rate on them, to the point where they are investigating a CDMA based Two-Way BB for the future..and that they have some prototype hybrid BB’s out there that they are going to take a second look at…

Not to sure what to think of the 8350i…
yes it’s my first BB. MOst of my direct connects left nextel due to poor service and support a while ago. I have my 8350 a week- Can’t find an easy way to look up tele #’s on the sim- everyone on the other end of my calls- (both wired and cell connections) complain of the echo effect others are talking about.

The OS is a bit clunky for me- Apple/MAc support sucks! having difficulty connecting – I may just be bailing out on nextel all together- They have the nerve of charging an additional $10 just to use the 2 way!!!!

I’m very disappointed all around

Have had one to demo for a few days now, and must say how extremely disappointed I am. I never had an iDen BB before, but if the older ones are as bad as this one, I feel bad for you folks! Messaging is HORRID, speeds are molasses slow, have to do the battery out reset many times to get messages through, about the only thing that works OK, is the DC, phone service is poor at best.. Thankfully I dont have to pay for this, or I’d be really upset.. It will be going back soon and I’ll be back on my hybrid 902 until something better comes along on the SPRINT side of things…

Is any one else having problems with it have bad echo or poor sound quility? every one i call says it echos on there end and at times the call is hard to hear.. I have a new one on order and will be at the repair shop on mondy. just hoping its just mine and that the new one will be ok and sound good let me know if any one else has had this problem

Yes I had this same Problem with the messages not coming in and had to turn it off and then back on every time that i wanted to get my SMS OR MMS msgs. But today i went to the https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=nextel Site and updated The Device IMEI: # and re sent the Service books and so far it is working i have not had to turn it off or reboot it once so im hoping it stays that way

They said that they where having problems with the Activation process and it registering wit the network…. go you nextel.blackberry.com and make sure that your pin number is correct i had to do that and then all my messages came in, Also i am having a problem with every time i play a song or make a call after i am done it powers off and turns back on the day i ordered it they had 10,000 phones the next day i went to get the phone looked at for my problem they had to order more and they where all on back order Go Figure!!!

I am having a very similar problem. At times I have to re-insert the battery and then all text messages will be received. A couple of times, the messages are delayed in me receiving them by about 5 minutes.

I signed up on the website and ordered the new Nextel Blackberry 8350i. When I check the order status online it is now showing it is back-ordered and does not provide a tracking number.

Is anyone else experiencing this when checking the order status?

I called Nextel Telesales via my Nextel phone today (611) and was happy I did. They were able to offer an ADDITIONAL $50 telesales credit to my invoice, bringing the price of the phone down to $100 (plus tax = $148.71). So DO NOT order online. They can even waive the $18.00 activation fee….. cool beans. A little bit of research really does pay off… and to think I came THAT CLOSE to ordering it online.

Can’t wait to get it in a couple of days… and to confirm, it is NOT a hybrid… 100% iDEN through and through. And the President of Sprint made a comment that iDEN is “on the way back” … Hooray!

I’m testing one right now, so far so good. The direct connect is a bit quiet and I can’t seem to get it to connect to my wi-fi at home but the camera is in there and fully working. Video capabilities as well. Speed for Data isn’t any improvement, It is nothing compared to the newer networks.

The coverage I will be testing over the holidays, I’m pretty sure I’ll still hit the same dead zones as with my other PTT blackberrys as it is still the same old iden network.

I will say, it beats the hell out of carrying the 7100i with its craptastic typing or the 7520 brick which wants to rip your pants off with it’s shear weight.

I hear this first release won’t have a camera… I’m not sure if I want to start off with a phone that already doesn’t have options I want. I guess you take what you can get.?
As for the earlier post about dates, I agree. I got a call from Telesales today (I asked to be called when I could order) and they left me a message to call 1-866-520-5126 to pre-order. Guess what… They had no idea why I got the call since you can not pre-order… Huh?
I wish I could have answered the phone and been able to patch this person (from Sprint) to Telesales… I wonder what they would have said to each other…???

Yep..just talked to our gov’t rep this morning.. 15th is the date..he told me phone orders to start with.. he got one at the local NJ Sprint municipal conference on the 9th and is going to try to get it to me by monday to check out.. everyone who attended could get one to use for 60 days…I’d really like to pick one up, but am real worried about the data speed and nextel phone service in my area…any reports from you current blackberry users as to the web/messaging/data speeds ????

I talked to a nextel sales rep for my company and he told me that he wouldn’t know until the 15th if the phone would be available. He said that until he sends in the purchase form that he wouldn’t know if they would except it or send it back stating that it’s not yet ready. This sucks that even the sales reps don’t know when they are going to be able to get this phone. Anybody else have something that they can add to this.

I must have this phone. I am so sick of my archaic 7100i. I also have to agree that I have been disappointed with the way sprint has handled it’s nextel users. They seem to have missed the boat. I have been with Nextel for 6 years.

MUST HAVE THE 8350 NOW!
