Andrew makes a good point: by throwing so many form factors at the market at once--Bold, Thunder, Kickstart--RIM confuses the marketplace and smells desperate. Worse, the Bold suffers as RIM saves features like better cameras for the other devices. You don't see Apple doing that--there's only one iPhone. RIM should be making a Bold with a physical keyboard, screen and browser speeds that flat-out beatst the iPhone and stop deluting their brand. I'm typing this on my iPhone and wish the Bold had delivered more than did to keep me with BlackBerry. Like most, I have zero interest in a touchscreen or clamshell from RIM.

All this talk about Bold, Kickstart, and Thunder has only confused me and caused me to delay mt desire to get a Bold. I saw an iPhone recently and want one if only for the Browser/Screen. The virtual keyboard is a non-starter. Besides, not ready for primetime 3G is another non-starter. I think I'll hang on to my 8800 for awhile yet.

Wait a second. The flagship BlackBerry Bold is nothing to write home about but the second banana Thunder and Kickstart aimed at the consumer market will be "revolutionary"? Please. I am a huge BlackBerry fan, Apple OWNS the touchscreen market with more than a hundred patents. Now we have an alleged "financial analyst" pushing a "buy" on BlackBerry, which has pegged its hopes on a "superior" physical keyboard, even though he and other analysts have reported less than satisfactory quality with the Bold's squishy keys, 3G reception and slower browser speeds?

Worst of all, this analyst is looking to the consumer side to right RIMM after acknowledging that the Bold's shortcoming's and high price plan will make it tougher for businesses--it's core market--to quickly adopt en masse?

Get me an iPhone--and another analyst.

I dumped my RIMM shares this morning. RIMM is about to have a product rollout in the U.S. that will make Apple's look relatively smooth. This is not good, not good at for RIMM.

I guess I sorta agree with him. All this talk for months comparing iPhone and Bold has been pure silliness. They are TOTALLY different devices that were developed for TOTALLY different markets. The fact that they are both coming out around the same time and both have 3G (and problematic 3G at that!) is REALLY the only similarity.

Thunder is the RIM answer to iPhone. And Kickstart is the RIM answer to "cheap TMO flips".
