CDMA users have had a fun time trying to get their hands on the latest BlackBerry software, but now they won’t have to resort to Rapidshare to get the new OS. The Canadian carrier MTS Mobility has OS 4.5 available for public download from RIM’s site. If you’re looking to try it out, just grab the file, install, make sure you have the latest Desktop Manager, and plug in your BlackBerry via miniUSB when it’s open. Don’t worry that it’s from another carrier, you should be fine after deleting the vendor.xml file on your computer. OS 4.5 features rich text e-mail viewing on supporting BlackBerry Enterprise Servers, among other goodies like a variety of attachment download capabilities and free/busy calendar lookup. Folks packing the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition might still be out of luck, although there are torrents out there for unreleased versions of the software. CDMA subscribers can head on over to RIM’s site to get upgrading their Pearls and Curves.

yep, same error code. looks like they took it down because of the leak? Have any of the other downloads for the gsm models been taken down/error coded like this?

where will I find the xml file on my computer… I downloaded 4.5 on blackberry curve but don’t see any changes…
A few VZW subscribers have just upgraded. Everything went smoothly except the fact that we do not have a Blackberry Browser anymore. Any suggestions?
Desktop 4.5 is part of it but you need the smart phone software.

No, you can now get Desktop Manager 4.6. But make sure not to confuse the BlackBerry OS 4.5 with the Desktop Manager 4.5.
I download the new OS for 8830, it is beautiful, so yes it’s out there, will be back and post the website. It installed flawlessly, no problems, no crashes.

Make sure you upgrade your desktop software to the latest version first before you upgrade your BB.
I installed last night and there were no complications. I have a verizon 8330 and as mentioned above I was missing my browser, until I restarted the device. The GPS still does not work in BB maps or other 3rd party apps.
I have the Sprint Curve 8330. Guess it will wipe out all my Sprint applications, including Sprint Navigation, etc.
If I do a restore, does anyone know if it will put all my Sprint apps back on? Also afraid of losing GPS.

It keeps all the Sprint apps and kept all the settings. There’s one major (for me) difference: you can no longer “force” the Curve into roaming, which may or may not be significant to you or others.

I have a Sprint 8330 and have installed every new beta OS as soon as it’s in the wild, and none of my Sprint apps have ever gone missing. So, you shouldn’t have any trouble.
Is it just me, or is the file no longer available for download under MTS Mobility, from the blackberry.com web site?
All I see is the Desktop Manager Software in the LOV…no OS file???

I CAN NOT FIND THE OS 4.5 UPGRADE FOR THE 8330 SPRINT NEITHER. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE I CAN GET IT. A RELIABLE LINK OR SITE.
They did pull it a few days ago. I suggest searching for a torrent or another download site.
