I noticed immediate email starting around Sept 4th, but recently it has stopped. Only getting updates every 15 mins. T-mobile in US using Gmail IMAP. Anyone else having this problem?

Telnet to port 143 of your IMAP server. Tell the server “a001 CAPABILITY” and then “a002 LOGOUT”. It will list all capabilities. If IDLE is listed, you are good.

After reading this article I turned on IMAP on my Gmail and it lags for the famous 10-15 minutes before I see it in my BB. My carrier is Orange in the Dominican Republic.

Just switched from Bell to Rogers using our corporate IMAP. With Bell we’d wait 15 minutes for emails. With Rogers, I get emails on my BB before Outlook!

On what system do bis and gmail work wonderfully? On BIS via ATT mail isn’t synchronized back with the gmail account and sent items appear in your inbox. Not wonderful in my book. Hopefully it gets better.

Blackberry IMAP works wonderfully with GMAIL. Receiving messages was instant. I haven’t tested it with the GMAIL app, however.
