mr742:

Seems like the internal volume is good. May be your headsets. When I use my Skully headsets (inner ear noise cancelling) can't use full volume because it does get way too loud. When I use my Nike (over the ear) have to pump it all the way up.

I have 1802 songs on my 8GB card. Going to get a 16GB...with Rhapsody no reason not to!

Im a little curious to know; the iPhone tells you when your connected to 3G but all my Storm ever says is 1Xev or 1XEV, what the difference and is either the actual 3G network or am I way out of the ballpark on this one and ALWAYS connected to 3g????

Good Morning All:

This morning woke up to a system update icon. I was told this would happen but expected it in mid January. Followed the path. Said it would take about 2 hours to complete but finished in a little over a half hour. This was expected and I welcomed it. Be sure to look for your update icon on your desktop.

Happy Wednesday all.

Angela:

I broke down and bought the two for $10 from crackberry... I would like to know where there are some free apps available as I feel this is lacking with the phone... The ones I bought said they were for the Storm although you can absolutely tell they are ported versions as they dont respond well to the touch and you basically have to touch and scroll to select options. The dont require a device PIN so I guess I might be kind enough to share with a couple of you...

P'Od...watched CNet on the Omnia. Not too impressive. Guess that's why Baskin Robbins makes 32 flavors. Phones are a very personal thing. I'm having to adjust to the touch screen of my Storm. Performance wise and overall I am very happy. It's a toy...just like all the other garbage we have. Some will have fun playing, others will get bored fast.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Forgetaboutit...after the customer service hassles, glitches, slowness, no wi-fi, and the list goes on...I've opted for the Samsung Omnia - see the CNET reviews - the Storm got blown away - sorry.

Drew, mR, et al, thanks so much for sharing your opinions of the Storm! I'm gonna wait for BB Storm2 which I've read is bein' worked on as we e-speak. I've fallen in la-la-Love with the Samsung Behold after test driving both the lg Dare (which is AWESOME save for a couple of bugs) and the G1. By the time my renewed 2-year contract w/ T-Mobile expires, the Storm2 should be out and I'll get giddy over it just as I got giddy about the Storm.

Thanks again for sharing!

Andrew:

So sorry you are having issues. Had the phone since launch date. Day one was a challenge due to the overload of activation but since it's been fine.

Every now and then it does freeze and the only way to fix it is to pull the battery but overall I've adjusted...moves fast for me.

Typing was a learning curve...but think with the over 200 emails I've received and answered I've overcome the challenges.

I would rate this phone a nine...I'm very happy with it.

Since I have had the phone for over alittle while now and have had time to adjust to the difference. The phone is ok. Not great, not bad but ok. Now once the new OS software comes out which it is if you want a leaked version I might have a different answer. I have had a few problems that are liveable just alittle annoying. It wants to automatically reset from time to time. There is a good amount of lag to and from portrait mode. Apps are alittl slow going in and out of.

I like the typing but you have to be careful not to type to fast. Overall I like the operating system it just needs the update and I am sure it will be fine. I dont dislike the phone so please dont anyone take any of this the wrong way. It is new technology and it like anything else new will take an update or 2 before it is running smoothly. I like what you can do on the phone and there are some pretty nice applications as well.

I was actually going to compare the storm to my iphone since I did own the Iphone for over a year. But to be fair and again dont take this the wrong way, right now there is no comparison to the iphone and wouldnt be fair to compare them. The Iphone has been up and running for a couple years now and to try and compare it with "similar" technology that is new. Not fair to BB. Give this phone a year or so and then we can talk.

Overall the phone is great just need to work out some bugs.

Thanks
-Drew

I dont dislike the phone so please dont anyone take any of this the wrong way. It is new technology and it like anything else new will take an update or 2 before it is running smoothly. I like what you can do on the phone and there are some pretty nice applications as well.

I was actually going to compare the storm to my iphone since I did own the Iphone for over a year. But to be fair and again dont take this the wrong way, right now there is no comparison to the iphone and wouldnt be fair to compare them. The Iphone has been up and running for a couple years now and to try and compare it with “similar” technology that is new. Not fair to BB. Give this phone a year or so and then we can talk.

Overall the phone is great just need to work out some bugs.

Thanks
-Drew

oh and one other thing, for all those who have just got their Storm, if ur OS is 4.7.0.65 or something similar 2 that, ur fone may seem buggy and slow at things. i dont remember the exact website but go to crackberry.com and look for the "leaked" firmware of 4.7.0.75 it speeds up the slower things. it doesn't fix everything and make the phone perfect but it does help out.

Ok, so first day impressions are good.

Pros:
*The phone has tons of storage
*It switches networks seemlessly
*Resolution is awesome
*Very user freindly interface

Cons:
*It does lag every once in a while (cant think of a smartphone I've had that didnt)
*It keeps telling me the SIM Card has been rejected although it works fine (Verizon had a 35 min hold time last night so I will call back today)
*Not a whole lot of applications or games; either on the phone or for download (maybe I'm not looking in the right places)

Phone came today; someone must love me :)

Still unsure why the folks at the 800 number kept moving the delivery date out further everytime I called...but I have the phone in my hands and I love it...will get back to you all tomorrow on my first date impressions of the phone

mR742, I hope that when you do get your phone, it's worth all of the waiting. From the good reviews that I've been seein' re: the Storm, it will be and you're gonna love your phone! I hope you get it soon. I'm takin' the G1 back today. Battery life SUX ROYALLY! Battery drained 2ce in one day! Yes, I was checkin' out the G1's features and on the web for hours, but ya know what? I was on the Dare even longer and didn't have to recharge ONCE (after turning it on, fully charged in the morning). The Dare's battery was challenging me to drain it! I lost that battle. The G1 was fully charged when I turned it on at 9am and the battery was drained by 6:30pm after about three hours of actual usage (web, phone and a few texts). Fully charged it once again and 5 hours later, the battery display was flashing! In Storm related news, BlackBerry's already workin' on the 2nd generation of the Storm and are in the early stages of a 3rd gen!

Angela, thanks for the update. Glad you're loving your phone! I'm test driving phones right now. Just returned an lg Dare to Verizon cos the screen would go black and unresponsive as soon as I'd dial a number so I never even got a chance to try out the speaker. Went to my currrent provider, T-Mobile to compare the Samsung Behold and the G1. Left with the G1 n' am happy with it so far...but it's only been one day. Not even a full day yet, lol. I'm typing on it now. It's mildly challenging getting around the Jay Leno chin on this thing. But it's web abilities more than make up for that. If the battery doesn't get me through a full day, I'll try the Behold or go back and get another Dare. Preferrably a glitch-free one. The battery life on that thing is phenominal!!!

So sorry everyone. I've had my phone since the launch date. Was 7th in line and received one of ten phones in stock. Those that did not get the phone ordered it that morning and were given an instant $50.00 rebate for the inconvenience and were promised delivery before Thanksgiving. Don't know if that happened because I didn't know any of the people.

First day was a train wreck because Verizon was flooded with activations and major overload. Since, it's been a dream. Still every now and then the phone may freeze...pop out battery and all is well. I understand they will have a system update in January to iron out some last tweaks. I can remember having issues every now and then with my Curve...so nothing new!

Took a couple of days to text quickly. Buttons light up but if you are too quick you'll hit the one next to it...not any different than my challenges with my Curve.

Overall, the quality of the music, videos and photos (camera) are more than I expected. The demo video is a trailer and will knock your socks off if you watch it with headsets..the sound is amazing and the video quality is crystal clear.

I truly hope Verizon does not release any new phones for a while, I think I'm in love...hated to divorce my Curve but happily remarried again to my Storm!
