To All.
For those users experiencing intermittent resets, you MUST check the OS version. The first and second batch of Bolds did not have 4.6.0.144 an now 145.

That damn M25 eh ;-)

I haven't noticed a pattern to my restarts. All I know is that my phone performs worse now through os upgrades than when I got it from the orange shop.

I'm not with Orange but did want to comment on issues I had with my Bold here in Australia. The device would restart intermittently, loose the data connection from time to time, & also turn on the wireless connection every so often (even though I had it disabled). All these problems were fixed when I upgraded from 4.6.0.92 to 4.6.0.144.

I've not noticed any issues untill the other day whilst driving past the M25 around juctions 10/11 - every time im on a call and driving through that area the phone just resets when it's set to use 3G/2G. However, if I set to 2G only, then I have no issues!

I've not tried using 3G-only as I do not have coverage where I live.

I'm back to say I told you so.

Now that I'm an ex-BlackBerry user, I don't always feel comfortable commenting on RIM stock and devices. But I feel compelled to say two things in light of the confusing mixture of hype (Storm) and horror (Bold) unfolding this fall.

First the great news.

The "ultimate Blackberry experience" is coming a lot faster than otherwise thanks to my posts, your posts and sites like BlackberryCool. Leaks are finally beginning to appear in public about the next-gen touchscreen with physical slideout device we've all been waiting.

Which means I may only be an ex-BlackBerry until the end of next year.

RIM first filed a patent for last year but decided for some bizaree reason not to introduce it this year, instead opting to "split" key features among transitional devices like the Bold (3G but no Storm-like touch), Storm (Touchscreen but cruelly no WiFi), Javelin (Bold-like without 3G) and PearlFlip (yeah, right; I folded one open and it was so big it struck and fell a granny).

Which brings me to the bad news:

The Bold--a BEAUTIFUL device and the apex of current/last-gen Blackberry technology — is a BUST. This could have ROCKED. Instead, BECAUSE the boys at Waterloo didn't learn from the four-pronged fiasco Apple incurred by trying to simultaneously introduce the 3G iPhone, the 2.0 OS, the App Store and MobileMe. Nope, RIM decides to simultaneously introduce the Bold, Storm, Javelin Curve and Pearl Flip.

Ouch!

Now we're probably going to see the 2nd-gen Storm before the Bold hits the U.S. enterprise market. And if the Bold does indeed come out by Christmas, it probably won't take hold the way it could have, being crushed by both the iPhone AND the Storm.

The worst part is how much money RIM has lost and will continue to use as these new devices blunt but don't slow the iPhone's ascent. All the while having lost the opportunity to come out with this touchscreen/slider that truly builds the brand and moves the technology forward.

But, hey, here's a huge thumbs-up from an accused "Blackberry Basher" to BlackberryCool and the community here for raising red flags and honestly dealing with the issues.

The end result is that RIM execs who ARE paying attention these core fan forums are finally moving past these transitional devices to the phone we all want.

I truly believe the community here has cut a full year off the wait for this new UberBerry. Even if we're looking at NEXT Christmas.

It can't come soon enough.

Over and out.
