I'm on T-Mobile and in order to get this and a few other apps to work, I had to add something to the TCP settings. Just goto Options - Advanced Options - TCP. For the APN, enter wap.voicestream.com and for the username and password just leave them blank.

Please note, this will only work for the T-Mobile Network. Contact your wireless carrier for their TCP settings.

Once I entered those setting, Gmail started working. As did Pandora, and a couple other apps that need access to the wireless network.

Good Luck..

when i installed it this morning - i was getting notification of new email. LED light would flash.
few hours later - i no longer have new mail indication. the gmail app on my BB no longer receives pushed email. i removed and reinstalled the app and still the same result.

this morning when the app would indicate new email (LED flashing as well) and receive new email without me having to refresh, i must say that was very convenient. i've been trying to figure out why this doesn't happen anymore.

Seems that the service provider could be one of the rootcauses for "this programme requires a working data connection". A collegue has the same hardware and software and no issues, even after installing 2.06. Could be service books, could be something with the service provider. I have KPN providing the network service.
