Verizon BlackBerry Storm gets firm release date: November 4th?

View Comments

UPDATE 4: It’s official! The Verizon BlackBerry Storm will launch for $199 on a 2 year contract November 21st!

It’s official: Verizon BlackBerry Storm launches November 21st, for $199

UPDATE 3: New info suggests a possible November 24th launch date and a $199 price tag after a mail-in rebate.

Verizon BlackBerry Storm to launch November 24th?

UPDATE 2: While we still can’t tell you when the BlackBerry Storm on Verizon will be launched, we can tell you what it might cost: $210 on a 2 year contract. You can find out more by clicking the link below:

Verizon BlackBerry Storm to retail at $220?

UPDATE: Obviously, November 4th has come and gone, and while Americans have a new President, they do not have a new BlackBerry (unless you count the BlackBerry Bold). For the latest in BlackBerry Storm launch dates, please check our continuously updated BlackBerry Storm Launch Roundup Page. You’ll find launch information for Verizon, Vodafone, Telus and Bell.

We’re working pretty hard to confirm this right now, but it’s too exciting not to post, and falls in line with what has been reported recently on the blogs. A friendly tipster has been telling us that Verizon has settled on a firm launch date for the BlackBerry Storm 9530: November 4th. This would put the Storm launch two days after Verizon employees complete their Storm training, and right in line with famed rumor-monger Boy Genius’ ‘first week of November‘ time time line.

This is exciting news! That means the first touchscreen BlackBerry is almost exactly one month away. Too good to be true? We’ll do our best to find out for you.

    mr742:

Seems like the internal volume is good. May be your headsets. When I use my Skully headsets (inner ear noise cancelling) can't use full volume because it does get way too loud. When I use my Nike (over the ear) have to pump it all the way up.

I have 1802 songs on my 8GB card. Going to get a 16GB...with Rhapsody no reason not to!

    Angie
  • mR742
anyone know how to get the headset volume up to a louder level, seems very low even after the "warning" about exceeding reccomended levels
  • mR742
Ok I have an annoyance with this phone finally:

Ive been listening to music all day on it - when you select the shuffle option and the playlist shifts artist the volume JUMPS up and get really loud
  • mR742
Hmm, mine took all of about 30seconds but it did say there was an update for multiple programs on the phone...
  • NA
    @Angie:
What is the update to your OS? I haven't heard of any update going around?
  • mR742
Im a little curious to know; the iPhone tells you when your connected to 3G but all my Storm ever says is 1Xev or 1XEV, what the difference and is either the actual 3G network or am I way out of the ballpark on this one and ALWAYS connected to 3g????
  • mR742
You are correct Angie, Second update so far...they really are trying to get these bugs worked out as fast as possible, great job so far RIM
  • Angela
    Good Morning All:

This morning woke up to a system update icon. I was told this would happen but expected it in mid January. Followed the path. Said it would take about 2 hours to complete but finished in a little over a half hour. This was expected and I welcomed it. Be sure to look for your update icon on your desktop.

    Happy Wednesday all.

    Angie :)

    Angela:

I broke down and bought the two for $10 from crackberry... I would like to know where there are some free apps available as I feel this is lacking with the phone... The ones I bought said they were for the Storm although you can absolutely tell they are ported versions as they dont respond well to the touch and you basically have to touch and scroll to select options. The dont require a device PIN so I guess I might be kind enough to share with a couple of you...
  • Angela
P'Od...watched CNet on the Omnia. Not too impressive. Guess that's why Baskin Robbins makes 32 flavors. Phones are a very personal thing. I'm having to adjust to the touch screen of my Storm. Performance wise and overall I am very happy. It's a toy...just like all the other garbage we have. Some will have fun playing, others will get bored fast.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

    Angie :)

Where is everyone getting their add on applications? Searched and found nothing. Did find a cool docking station.
  • mR742
Eh, dont get the flashlight ap, it uses the led for light source instead of the camera light...Bartender is cool though
  • Forgetaboutit...after the customer service hassles, glitches, slowness, no wi-fi, and the list goes on...I've opted for the Samsung Omnia - see the CNET reviews - the Storm got blown away - sorry.

    Andrew/Anyone else:

Im new to the BB world so where would one find Apps for the Storm. I see apps for the other blackberry's but I am cautious to add them as I dont want a ported app to crash my phone...
  • Caprice
Drew, mR, et al, thanks so much for sharing your opinions of the Storm! I'm gonna wait for BB Storm2 which I've read is bein' worked on as we e-speak. I've fallen in la-la-Love with the Samsung Behold after test driving both the lg Dare (which is AWESOME save for a couple of bugs) and the G1. By the time my renewed 2-year contract w/ T-Mobile expires, the Storm2 should be out and I'll get giddy over it just as I got giddy about the Storm.

    Thanks again for sharing!

    Andrew:

So sorry you are having issues. Had the phone since launch date. Day one was a challenge due to the overload of activation but since it's been fine.

Every now and then it does freeze and the only way to fix it is to pull the battery but overall I've adjusted...moves fast for me.

Typing was a learning curve...but think with the over 200 emails I've received and answered I've overcome the challenges.

I would rate this phone a nine...I'm very happy with it.

    Angie :)
  • Andrew
Since I have had the phone for over alittle while now and have had time to adjust to the difference. The phone is ok. Not great, not bad but ok. Now once the new OS software comes out which it is if you want a leaked version I might have a different answer. I have had a few problems that are liveable just alittle annoying. It wants to automatically reset from time to time. There is a good amount of lag to and from portrait mode. Apps are alittl slow going in and out of.

I like the typing but you have to be careful not to type to fast. Overall I like the operating system it just needs the update and I am sure it will be fine. I dont dislike the phone so please dont anyone take any of this the wrong way. It is new technology and it like anything else new will take an update or 2 before it is running smoothly. I like what you can do on the phone and there are some pretty nice applications as well.

I was actually going to compare the storm to my iphone since I did own the Iphone for over a year. But to be fair and again dont take this the wrong way, right now there is no comparison to the iphone and wouldnt be fair to compare them. The Iphone has been up and running for a couple years now and to try and compare it with "similar" technology that is new. Not fair to BB. Give this phone a year or so and then we can talk.

Overall the phone is great just need to work out some bugs.

    Thanks
    -Drew

oh and one other thing, for all those who have just got their Storm, if ur OS is 4.7.0.65 or something similar 2 that, ur fone may seem buggy and slow at things. i dont remember the exact website but go to crackberry.com and look for the "leaked" firmware of 4.7.0.75 it speeds up the slower things. it doesn't fix everything and make the phone perfect but it does help out.
  • lilnosh
thee only way u can add signatures on BB's is if u type up what ever it is u want as ur signature, and the copy it. then when ur replying to messages, u have to paste it every time. and sorry guys for the way i type my words.
  • mR742
    quick question:

I've been playing with the phone and have not found a way of adding a signature when sending text msgs or emails, how do I do this on the storm?
  • mR742
Ok, so first day impressions are good.

    Pros:
*The phone has tons of storage
    *It switches networks seemlessly
    *Resolution is awesome
    *Very user freindly interface

    Cons:
*It does lag every once in a while (cant think of a smartphone I've had that didnt)
*It keeps telling me the SIM Card has been rejected although it works fine (Verizon had a 35 min hold time last night so I will call back today)
*Not a whole lot of applications or games; either on the phone or for download (maybe I'm not looking in the right places)
  • mR742
Phone came today; someone must love me :)

Still unsure why the folks at the 800 number kept moving the delivery date out further everytime I called...but I have the phone in my hands and I love it...will get back to you all tomorrow on my first date impressions of the phone
  • Caprice
mR742, I hope that when you do get your phone, it's worth all of the waiting. From the good reviews that I've been seein' re: the Storm, it will be and you're gonna love your phone! I hope you get it soon. I'm takin' the G1 back today. Battery life SUX ROYALLY! Battery drained 2ce in one day! Yes, I was checkin' out the G1's features and on the web for hours, but ya know what? I was on the Dare even longer and didn't have to recharge ONCE (after turning it on, fully charged in the morning). The Dare's battery was challenging me to drain it! I lost that battle. The G1 was fully charged when I turned it on at 9am and the battery was drained by 6:30pm after about three hours of actual usage (web, phone and a few texts). Fully charged it once again and 5 hours later, the battery display was flashing! In Storm related news, BlackBerry's already workin' on the 2nd generation of the Storm and are in the early stages of a 3rd gen!
  • mR742
Nice, I just saw a commercial that Best Buy is giving away blue tooths with the purchase of the storm, yet I cant even get mine and my delivery date is pushed back to the 11th now....
  • Caprice
Angela, thanks for the update. Glad you're loving your phone! I'm test driving phones right now. Just returned an lg Dare to Verizon cos the screen would go black and unresponsive as soon as I'd dial a number so I never even got a chance to try out the speaker. Went to my currrent provider, T-Mobile to compare the Samsung Behold and the G1. Left with the G1 n' am happy with it so far...but it's only been one day. Not even a full day yet, lol. I'm typing on it now. It's mildly challenging getting around the Jay Leno chin on this thing. But it's web abilities more than make up for that. If the battery doesn't get me through a full day, I'll try the Behold or go back and get another Dare. Preferrably a glitch-free one. The battery life on that thing is phenominal!!!
  • Angela
So sorry everyone. I've had my phone since the launch date. Was 7th in line and received one of ten phones in stock. Those that did not get the phone ordered it that morning and were given an instant $50.00 rebate for the inconvenience and were promised delivery before Thanksgiving. Don't know if that happened because I didn't know any of the people.

First day was a train wreck because Verizon was flooded with activations and major overload. Since, it's been a dream. Still every now and then the phone may freeze...pop out battery and all is well. I understand they will have a system update in January to iron out some last tweaks. I can remember having issues every now and then with my Curve...so nothing new!

Took a couple of days to text quickly. Buttons light up but if you are too quick you'll hit the one next to it...not any different than my challenges with my Curve.

Overall, the quality of the music, videos and photos (camera) are more than I expected. The demo video is a trailer and will knock your socks off if you watch it with headsets..the sound is amazing and the video quality is crystal clear.

I truly hope Verizon does not release any new phones for a while, I think I'm in love...hated to divorce my Curve but happily remarried again to my Storm!

Come to think of the last post by "Sam"

It doesnt seem like a real "Sam" post; the verbage and grammer are off...
  • mR742
LOL, well so far I dont even have a delivery notification stating that it has been shipped. I dont blame Verizon, I blame my wife because I was one click away from ordering the phone online at 6am my time when she said a sales person was holding one for her...I should have known
  • Sam
you should of received your phone by now...
  • mR742
    SAM:

I bought it in San Jose, CA

    Receipt - http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p22/mR742/re...

I was originally told it would be recieved by the 5th at latest but as of today I was told by the 9th... :(

I am really hoping I will get it sometime next week as I cant see having to wait almost three weeks to get it.

To the folks that have already recieved their phones or got them on day 1 how are they, I noticed the post on this particular thread dropped dramatically...

    Andrew:

Did you in fact rec yours today? How do you like it?
  • Sam
    mR742:
If you want give me the location you got the phone ordered from and I can tell you when they will have their next shipment
  • mR742
HAHA, ya me too Caprice and I will give some insight into my feelings on the phone when I do rec it. Happy Hollidays all!
  • Caprice
mR742, yup! Like a kid at Christmas. That sums it up perfectly. I hope you get your phone soon! I have my own selfish reasons (at least I'm honest!)... I'm hoping that you leave some feedback on this thread. Since I don't have my phone (yet), I'm just enjoying reading on different sites what other people have to say about theirs. Most of the people who were ticked off were mad at how Verizon/Blackberry handled it. BB didn't manufacture that many phones to begin with, I don't think. Each store seemed to only have a handful. Several VZW customers walked away sans Storm and ticked off! But the folks who do have their phones seem generally happy. I hope that when you DO get your phone, it's running on the new, quicker OS that I keep reading about.
  • mR742
Dammit man...still no email, sucks for me, maybe next week...
  • Andrew
I am sorry I forgot to mention, Verizon will send you the email once it has been shipped...
  • Andrew
    mR742-

I was sent an email with a tracking number for fedex and I looked it up and saw the delievery date there, Then from fedex you can track it city by city if you choose. It takes a day or 2 from the time they place the order for a tracking number to be available. The actual item has to be picked up from Fedex and scanned into there system before there can be a tracking number. Hope this helps :)

    -drew
  • mR742
    Andrew:

Did the CS rep give you the tracking number or did you get it via email?
  • Andrew
Yep I orered mine friday morning from customer service and it has already shipped and I will be recieveing it the 26th. I have a tracking number and everything. The customer service lady told me that if you did not get it ordered before 1pm on friday then you won't get it till december. That is just what I was told, doesn't mean it is correct. Glad you all like your phones. My dad and brother got one on launch day and I have played with it and like it. Only one time did it freeze up on my brother all weekend and he was on it 24/7. My dads has not done it at all.

    Thanks

  • mR742
I think we all do Caprice... I feel like a kid waiting for xmas
  • Caprice
    Angela:

Thanks! You had to pull the battery to reboot it, yes? But, I was talkin' about battery life. Does a full battery get you through a full day of usage (checkin' e-mails, games, tunes, calls, etc.) or do you have to charge it again or put in the extra battery mid-day...? Does it even COME WITH an extra battery as I'd read somewhere prior to the phone's release? Can you watch You Tube videos on it? I just have so many questions! Thanks for you patience.

    mR742:
If you were waiting for the storm on Friday Morning and you ordered it in store you will receive it on 24-26 Nov
During the day on Friday you will receive it on 28th-03rd DEC.
    After Friday is TBA
  • mR742
Edit: I shouldnt have said gurantee; they said they can only tell me that it will be delievered before the 5th.

I was also told this morning as I was trying to push my luck and get a delievery date that if I would have waited till Sat I would not be rec one until the 15th at the earliest...idk and I do not work for Verizon so I could be wrong.
  • mR742
Ordered mine Friday night at my local Circuit City...they said they can only gurantee that it will be here before the 5th of Dec...sux for me :(
  • Angela
Caprice...if you read up the blog you'll see that I had concerns about the phone freezing and I would have to pull the battery. That happened on the launch date only and I believe it was due to the unexpected overload of activating. My phone works like a dream now and I absolutely love it. I held onto my Curve "just in case" and must say there is no way I would ever switch back.

I also believe there will be a system update in January to remove any additional glitches...but over all the phones performance and options blow any other out of the water.
  • Caprice
Also... Does the Storm have a tip calculator? Regular calculator that does percentages (my Blast doesn't), anyone know if you can open, read and respond to blogs a' la IMDb, and how's the camera/video recording and playback? Thanks (again) in advance.
  • Caprice
Congrats to all who've gotten their phone. I went to my local Verizon after work on Friday, played with their demo Storm and it froze on me two words into a text. Went to Queens Mall on Saturday and played with a demo their and absolutely fell in LOVE with the phone! They expect to get another shipment around December 3rd. I had a much easier time typing on the Storm's QWERTY mode than I did on my Samsung Blast when I first got it.

Questions for those of you lucky enough to own this hot piece... How's the battery life? Does it infact come with 2 batteries? How's the web browsing? TIA!
  • Tarheels
    Sam:
Will you post the links for Storm accessories?
  • Sam
    Angie:
About your battery because it’s a removal battery you’re lucky if it last you a day on that phone...what you could do is to get an additional battery and a battery charger for it...that’s what I do for my curve and they aren’t expensive at all you can get the OEM products for the whole thing under $50. If you or anyone else is interested I can post some links that you can purchase or get more information about storms accessories.
  • Angela
    Sam:

Thanks for the update...I referenced "software update" incorrectly. Perhaps I should have said system update...needless to say what you are saying is exactly what corporate Verizon said to me...expect it to be fixed in January.

There is abosolutely nothing wrong with this phone other than the few expected glitches and I can't imagine monster corporations like Verizon and Blackbery releasing without picking this phone apart piece by piece before launch.

When I purchased my phone yesterday you can see that Verizon was overwhelmed with an overload. Certain area codes could not get activated (305 here in Florida). But overall, they were professional and had everyone and their every move under control. Those that were not the first ten to actually receive thier phone on the spot got an "instant $50 rebate" rather than having to wait for the money as a way to compensate for the disappointment.

It is what it is...everyone needs to build a bridge and GET OVER IT.

The early bird gets the worm and with all the hype that was focused around this phone, depending on how serious you were is how early or how long you were willing to camp out. That made it all the more fun!

The negative comments are from those that either couldn't not afford the phone or those that have nothing else to do but trash and pretend to be something or someone they are not. I'm sorry Sam that many feel the need to blog under your identity.

I waited on line just like everyone else. I was number 7 and was fortunate to get my phone. I am prepared to deal with the glitches and I'm confident that they will be remedied.

    Angie :)
  • Sam
Come on people use common sense. Why Verizon release the phone and have it recall few hours’ right after the release day? PEOPLE like to post comment here with my name "Sam" plus if I say something like that here I will lose my job...think people are smarter than that.
There are NO software updates for this phone. RIM is working on V4.7.1.2 operating system that will take care of the all phone issues. Should be out sometime in JAN. There is nothing wrong with the phone, it’s just the operating system is slow...this explains why many people didn’t get the phone yesterday and only few will release every Monday Wednesday and Friday.
  • Angela
    Jim:

Thanks SO MUCH. Many of your tips are so helpful to me. I did speak with my corporate store and they told me that others have notified them of the keys locking and the screen jumping too...they are having issues and they are doing a software update that will be completed by January to remedy this. No recalls like SAM mentioned above. This can happen from a remote location. So I'm cool with yanking out the battery every now and then until it's fixed.

With my Curve, I was able to hide icons from the home screen...is there any way to change the order of the icons or hide them? Also see only one theme...find any good ones out there?

Despite the few hiccups...I LOVE THIS PHONE!

    Angie :)

    Angela
Sorry to hear that your having the problems. Other than being a little slow on the flip, and load times mine has been great. One thing to note about the phone is that you need to Close the applications you open when your done using them. When you are in a application if you just hit the End key or the Back key your not closing them. This means you could have 15 different things trying to run at the same time. Like any computer, this will hurt the processing. To close the program your in hit the "Blackberry" hey that is next the the green "send" key. Then scroll down the options to the end and hit "close". The way to check to see how many you have open is to hit the "Blackberry" key in the main menu and select "switch application" . Then go to each one and close it. Phone, Home screen, Browser, Messages, and Blackberry messenger are the only ones that run all the time. I hope this helped. PS. there will be an update within a week. It is already ready to go, they just wanted to give the phone a few days before they deploy it. And we can update our phones from home now, so we don't have to go to the store and wait forever.

    Good Luck!
  • Angela
I am having PROBLEMS with my phone.

So far I have had to pull the battery out about 5 times to restart it. My phone will freeze and won't let me click on any options. Sometimes after it freezes the screen will bounce up and down as if it is scrolling haphazardly on its own. The only way to stop it is to yank the battery. Once I do that it's fine.

Also I loaded in about 1500 songs. How do you all rate the battery life when listening to music. Doesn't come close to my iPod for play time. Don't think I would risk draining my battery to listen to music when traveling in fear that I won't have enough life to read my emails and talk on the phone...any thoughts?

    Anyone else having these concerns?
  • Sam
I just don't get why people are so stupid and have no life to come and say stuff like that...the whole recall thing that was posted here under my name is someone else. I know verizon made a lot of people angry today but honestly no one thought that many people would want the phone.
  • jim
I don't think that is the real SAM..
  • Sam
I just got a call to a meeting that might cause a recall on the entire storm that went out today. Phone is mess, mess, mess and made Verizon very upset with RIM as the phone turned out to be a POS. I am myself is very angry because not only the phone malfunctions it caused network difficulties...
  • mR742
    TY, your the man!
  • Sam
the store inside the Circuit city is owned by verizon it doesnt matter if you order it online or circuit city
  • mR742
So I have a quick question you all can settle for me.

The wife continues to argue with me that we should order the phone from Circuit City...

    I say online

Either will be today....question is which is faster?
  • UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I am extremely disappointed, frustrated, and shocked at today's (11/21/08) highly publicized "big release" of the new Blackberry Storm phone.

I don't even know where to begin in explaining today's circumstances so I'll just try to summarize the details...

None of the store's phone recording's mentioned the "promotional" 7.am. store opening, so needless to say when I called a few minutes before what I expected was the opening at 9a.m., all of the Storms were already sold out!

3 of the stores in my area had less than 100 units?! (5, 20, & 75)

On the phone, I was lied to by 2 different store representative's: 1 saying they were receiving another shipment later in the day so to come on by; the other saying if I came by they'd waive the overnight shipping fee and I'd have the phone by tomorrow a.m., plus there was "nobody in line" so I could place the order right away...

After going to the store, (5 mins. away) there were about 10 people in line and 20 or so already in queue or in the store!

After waiting about 30 mins. or so, still nowhere nearing being helped or getting any answers, the word from the store reps. was that now everything is on back order and it could take up to 5 days to ship if I ordered it today.

The whole scene was a mess and everyone had a different answer so I eventually left to go home and figured I'd just order it online...

Of course, that led me nowhere because the icing on the cake was that your website was down!

For a nationally-publicized, long-running ad campaign, high-profile product release, blogs all over the place about the hype...
What in the world happened today???

Didn't anyone learn from the iPhone releases that there is a huge demand out here for these devices?

It's hard to believe that it appears Verizon was not prepared for today's release in even the slightest degree.

I do not even know what else to say but this is absolutely ridiculous.
  • mR742
I'm jealous of all you that got yours already...I have to wait till after work to go to the store for them to tell me no and then I can look at my wife and give her the I told you so look and go home and order it online; which I should have done this morning like I wanted to...
  • BiG P
got my phone... love it! its a little weird but i just got to get the hang of it...
  • mR742
I live in N. Cal in the Silicon Valley and my wife and I have called about 15 stores, everyone of them sold out...
  • Ben
Well I woke up this morning got a call from best buy for my preorder and then went to the store and got my phone with my upgrade the phone is awsome good luck all stor hunters.
  • Andrew
Wonder why they told me fed-ex 2 day air and I would have it tuesday. That stinks lol. OH well at least I will have one. Just have to wait a few more days.

    Thanks sam
  • Sam
    Andrew:
Yes. Free Overnight shipping is standard with all Verizon Orders.
  • Andrew
Where they supposed to overnight it sam?
  • Andrew
    Sam:

I had called customer service and they are sending me a phone. It shipps out today and they send them fed-ex 2 day air. I will have the phone tuesday, due to not delivering on weekends.

BTW my verizon store that I go to in Rockford, IL recieved 2 phones.

    Thanks for the info sam.
  • Sam
Caprice I just sent mine back for optimizations I will get it back sometimes in Dec.
Andrew stores received from 5 to 40 based on their locations. As I mentioned before there is so much activation can occur in one day... (VZW internal network is down as we speak due to high terminal traffic) you have two options, go to VZW store place an order you pay 199.99 and you get the phone on Monday (grantee) or just go online and order it you’ll have the phone tomorrow(need to order before 12pm EST).

I was FIRST in line at my local Verizon Store in Greensboro NC,I camped out for 17 HOURS in a Snow Storm just to get this phone. This phone ROCKS
    Thank you Verizon.
  • Andrew
I was told all stores are recieveing 10 phones as well. That is pathetic on verizon's part. They hype the damn phone up so much and only 10 phones per store? Should of known, nothing has changed since the last big phone they promoted and sold out of. Its just bad business. But hey it's there money they are loosing not mine.

    -drew
  • Angela
Got mine...got tot he store at 6:30 and camped out...there were 8 ahead of me. All stores received 10 here in Florida...those that did not get the phone can expect delivery right before Thanksgiving...good luck everyone.

    This phone ROCKS!
  • Caprice
Got up at 5:30 this morning so that I could leave the house at 7 and get to the Verizon store at 8 when the doors opened. Lemme back up... Woke up at 5:30. Closed my eyes for "five more minutes." Woke up at ten to 7... Got to the Verizon store near my job at 8:30. There was a line :( ... but what did I expect!? Kinda concerned that the lines'll be even longer on my lunch hour. Well, there's always tomorrow. :)

SAM! How bad was it that you couldn't keep it just a couple more days, lol!? Was The Storm that we all expected a mere drizzle?
  • Jim
I am off to be the first in line! I hope everyone is ready for the Storm! haha
  • BiG P
im still getting the phone no matter what those reviews say... i work in retail and i dont believe in reviews... you shouldnt give up on the storm because of what some stupid review said you should try out yourself... cant wait till tomorrow!
  • Jim
I just played with one for a while and it is pretty sweet! Ya there is some little bugs to be worked out, but I was told that there will be new updates very soon. "like a week?" It is really a great phone and I can't wait til tomorrow morning to own it. I think that we would all be a little naive to think that this won't have ANY glitches, cmon look at the Iphone when it first came out. haha. But I know that Verizon and RIM will fix the glitches asap. Did I mention it is freakin SWEET!
  • Buck
The new touch screen blackberry comes out tomorrow! I have the samsung glyde but am willing to give up my iphone look alike for something even closer to the iphone!
  • mR742
is it so bad you couldnt give a week of getting used to it? Sell me yours...
  • Sam
I just got my today...and already went back to Curve. Phone doesn’t response very well idk maybe it’s me but it’s not straight forward like the Curve or the 8830
  • Andrew
Not trying to trash the phone at all but these are a few reviews I have ran across. I am looking forward to getting the phone but some of these have me alittle worried on quality.

    http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/19/blackberry-s...

    http://www.nbr.co.nz/article/blackberry-storm-f...

You guys read some of these and tell me what you think. I hope they have some of the bugs already worked out.

    Thanks

  • Sam
CD, have you ever used WiFi on any other mobil devices except on apple products? WiFi specially on Blackberry is VERY slow but Verizon and RIM are working to release a new Blackberry in early May which is WiFi enabled.

well Ben im glad you finally got the phone on reduce price :)

btw blackberry has a program that you can sale your old phone back to them and get some money out of it ill post the link as soon as i get it.
  • Ben
This comment goes out to Sam.

I want to say thank you for all your input your def a good person with all your insite. I called up Verizon and at first I thought I had to pay the full retail price but the using your suggestion I got them to give me the one year contract price. Which saved me like half the price the cool thing was I am elegible for the upgrade on Nov 21 of this year and that's good since the launch date is suppose to be the 21 this is just a huge thank you....for saving me like $250 thanks again
  • CD
Sam - I have a Blackberry 8830 World Edition now w/ data package and I use the browser quite a bit. Am still planning on upgrading to the Storm but I'm like Drew...was really hoping it would have wifi so I could leave my iTouch at home, lol. The Verizon data network is definitely the best but it can't beat a fast local wifi connection, especially if you're in an area or building where the data reception isn't the greatest (like in the building I work).

Oh well... maybe a future version of the Storm will have it. Am sure they'll get a lot of feedback from customers who expected wifi on the phone but didn't get it.
  • Sam
    CD,
reason 1 Blackberry Does offer WIFI but unfortunatly WiFi on mobil device has a low capacity (except Iphone)which makes any data transfering very slow...
reason 2 all verizon blackberrys come with the data plan you cant get the phone without a data plan so it makes having a phone with WiFi kind of pointless
  • Andrew
Sorry CD I thought you were referring to HSPA! That is why i said I would imagine they would have it. That is the only downfall to the Storm that I personally dont like and that is no Wi-Fi. But give them time and they will have it. Everything is going to Wi-Fi these days.

    -Drew
  • CD
Yes, I'm referring to wifi. It's funny cause if I go to Yahoo and type "blackberry storm wifi" and do a search, the first "sponsor result" that comes up is one from Verizon that states the following:

    The New BlackBerry® Storm
Discover BlackBerry® Storm, Now 3G & Wi-Fi® Capable! Learn More.
    www.BlackBerry.com/Storm

However, that's the only place I've seen it... all other sites (such as http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/33748) says it won't come with Wifi. Maybe it's a US model thing......
  • Sam
    CD
if you are referring to "Wi-Fi," then the answer is no NO, but if you are refering to "HSPA" then yes (slightly slower than Iphone)
  • Andrew
I was wondering that myself CD. I would imagine it would have wireless lan capability but I am not 100% sure to be honest. That is a good question though. Possibly Sam can help us out on that one.

    -Drew
  • CD
Does anyone know if the Storm has regular wireless LAN capability in addition to 3G (like the iPhone)? Or is it 3G connectivity only? I've been researching that but haven't had any luck.
  • Sam
John and Big P...im sorry but maybe i didnt explain it right.when you call you need to ask for 1 year pricing. what verizon does extend your contract for two years and give you the phone for the 1 year pricing. you can go to an actual store and have the manager doit for you or call the 1-800 number
  • BiG P
hey Sam... i called up the 800 number but the guy said i couldnt it at the promotion price... i told what you told me but he didnt really seem to know what i was talking about although he did say he noted on my account that i was interested in getting the Storm at retail which i saih was 269.99 after rebate so hopefully wheni go friday someone can help me out so i dont have to pay like 600 for the phone... even though i would pay 600 if i had too... i cant wait for this Storm to come...
  • Caprice
Thanks Drew! Lookin' forward to whatcha hafta say 'bout the two phones.

Eighty-six my earlier comments about waiting a while after its release to get this phone, lol. That was my frustration talking. The Verizon near my job opens an hour earlier on Friday. I'd like to be there when the doors open, get my phone n' come to work happy..happiER as I'm already happy on Friday's. We'll see, cos I'm not exactly a morning person. But I KNOW that if I don't get it Friday, I'll definitely get it Saturday!

    4 days and counting...
  • Andrew
    Caprice:

Sure after I play with the Storm for a few days I would be more then happy to compare the storm from my previous Iphone. I have no doubt I will like the storm better but I am very anxious in comparing them. I still have my Iphone in the drawer at home so I am going to have them side by side and do some comparing. But I will be more then happy to share some insight on the differences. Can't wait :)

    -drew
  • John C
    Sam,

I currently pay $40 for my line. I have that TV Phone, so my total bill comes out to about $90 a month (the phone is very overrated, I rarely use the TV feature).

I saw Big P posted that I should just walk into the store, do you think that would help? I was planning on going to the store opening at 7:30am on Friday, and talking to someone.

I can't imagine that they would turn me away!
  • Kelsey
oh noo way would i pay $500 for a phone! I'm going to use the annual upgrade to get it cheaper ;) but that sucks about her phone! I hate when things like that happen!
  • Angela
    Kelsey:

Don't do that. I did that for my daughter when the Voyager came out and my account became a train wreck. We lost so much stuff that was grandfathered in and it took about 5 months for them to figure out what they did to screw it up and get everything back to where it was.

I can't imagine it being more than $500.00 full retail.

    :)
  • Kelsey
I went into Verizon and asked them about the phone. If you are a current verizon customer and you have an upgrade, you can get the phone for $249.99 with a $50 rebate. If you aren't, then you have to buy the phone at retail which is $500 - $600... BUT Verizon started something new where the MAIN LINE on the bill gets annual upgrades. This upgrade can be applied to anyone on that bill's phone. The catch? The phone is $299 with a $50 rebate.
  • Cameron DuPre
This is just an update regarding Best Buy's STORM pre-order offer:

Best Buy has STOPPED taking pre-orders for the Storm as of last night, Nov. 15.
I rang the W. Hollywood store yesterday to place a deposit over the phone but did not have access to a fax machine so told the salesperson I would come in the following day to pay for the deposit.
When I walked in today I found out that they were told to trash remaining pre-order forms, and when he tried to print out a new one for me he found out that the form had been pulled from their system as well.

I was fortunate enough to manage to still pay for a deposit and put my name on a phone since I had called the day before.

I am having to take this route A) because I live in LA and want to avoid the hype and lines at the verizon stores and B) because I JUST used my upgrade credit on a Curve in September and my account (with 3 lines) is now not eligible for an upgrade credit until May 2009 and like hell I can wait that long.

    So now, I'm just anxious.

If I am going to have to pay retail for it (or, get some sort of customer promotional price withOUT the upgrade credit), I hope Best Buy has it at a lower price given my current standing.
  • BiG P
really? let me see i been having my line when the LG DARE came out and before that i had another line
  • Sam
Big P...call 1-800-922-0204 then option 0. tell the rep you want to get a blackberry and looking to get it on promotion price. if you have your line more than 5 months and your paying 34.99 or higher you will be qulified for the price which would be 269.99 after the rebate. what gonna happen is the rep is gonna note your account you can just walk into a store and get your storm.
  • BiG P
Sam... i have to buy the phone retail price because i already have a line and i dont have an upgrade yet
  • BiG P
hey John... did you just call the verizon store or actually walk in to a store? if you just called the store i suggest you atleast try and walk in to the store and talk to somebody cuz ive been through the same when i call they act like a**holes so i suggest you go in to the store and talk to someone there you;ll get better service than over the phone...
  • Sam
and big P retail price is based on the store you go to phone is 549.99 and can have up to $100 Mark-up. may i ask you why you wanna buy the phone retail?
  • Sam
John how much do you pay every month for your phone service (just your line) and when are you eligible for Upgrade?
as soon as you give me this informations i can tell you what you need to know to get the phone on reduced price...i believe you mis-understand cause NE2 is just a credit whichi think in your case is $50...thats not your upgrade date.
  • John
Just got some very disturbing mews over the last 2 days. I called 3 Verizon stores, and the Customer Service line, and they all said that if you aren't eligible for a "New Every Two", you have to pay FULL RETAIL PRICE for the phone. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life!! I am willing to spend $200 (after rebate) with them on Friday, and their best response is that "hey, you'll save $50 when you are up for a new phone in February." Are they serious? They're going to turn me away after I've been a loyal, PATIENT customer for the last 10 years?!?!?! I waited out on getting an iPhone because I love Verizon so much. If this is how they are going to run their business, I don't know if I want to be a part of it.

Sam, you're the only one who seems to know what they're talking about when it comes to insider info. Is this really going to be the case? It's not that I can't wait until February, but I just don't like the way I am being treated at multiple stores.
  • mR742
    ^^ = Tard
  • BigWig
I know this guy, who knew this guy, who knew this guy, who knew this guy, who knew this guy, who knew this guy, who knew this girl, who works with this other guy who heard from a Verizon rep that he would be getting the Storm on Monday to test. How cool is that????
  • BiG P
any word on what the retail price is going to be???
  • Eric
I am very interested in the Storm, but I am put off by some of VZW policies. I can get a pretty nice discount through my employer but not on any Unlimited plans? WHAT? Typical verizon.
  • mR742
TY Sam for clarifying, youre the best ! :)
  • Ben
Well to show you guys that there is light at the end of the tunnel I just got a call from Best Buy since I pre-ordered my phone with them I have to pick it up on the 18th and for those that want to say that cant happen and that its not true belive what ever you want but as for people that want a good chance go to Best Buy and preorder if you want I am not here trying to prove anything just sending you some info take care guys. And good luck.
  • Caprice
Drew, you're the first person I've come across who loved their iPhone. Three people on my job have had them and got rid of them no long after gettin' 'em. I'm really glad you liked your phone...but I'll bet you'll like the Storm better! :) If you don't mind, once you've had your Storm for a few days, can you share some comparisons of the two phones?

Jim, I too stand corrected...kinda. I'd left my post at 10:59. My e-mail from Verizon came in at 11:14, lol. Better late than never I guess.
  • Sam
I feel like I still have to post comments here. mR742 Verizon offer what its call an early upgrade to its customers with qualified plan 59.99 + or wait another 10 months to receive an additional credit of either $50 or 100 based on Ur calling plan. Let say if you were eligible for NE2 storm would cost either $149.99 or S99.99 for you. But your deff qualify for the 199.99 price with Annual upgrade. Btw Verizon will release the phone to its third party re-sellers authorized agents at the same time which means corporate stores will have fewer phones in stock
  • Jim
I stand corrected. I did receive an email at 10:17 this morning. I guess the blogs are just a couple of hours ahead. haha.
  • Jim
Sweet! I can't wait now until next Friday! By the way, I didn't receive an email from them yet, but I did receive a call from my store and they are reserving one for me. They said they would call back on Thursday next week and confirm that I still want it. They will know by then how many they are getting. So I guess my store is on the ball! And if anyone out there tries to doubt me, I will just give the number out and you can call and verify. haha This is going to be great!
  • mR742
VERY happy the phone finally has a solid release date and price, my final question is:

My account states the following - Upgrade Status:
Eligible for Annual Upgrade with discounted pricing.
You will be eligible for New Every Two on06/03/2009
Selecting Annual Upgrade with discounted pricing requires a two-year renewal and will impact your existing New Every Two eligibility.

Do I qualify for the Storm at the $199 price with a new 2yr contract?
  • Eric
Nice to see this release date and pricing situation put to bed. Now can we all talk about the "STORM" for crying out loud. Also I did sign up for email notification from Verizon and DID receive an email this morning about release on 11/21.
  • Andrew
    Caprice:

You know what? I had signed up for every email alert as well, and still to right now I have not recieved a thing, nor a call from my verizon store like they said they would as soon as a date was released.

LOL well I guess it was me and about 100 million others that were waiting for a phone call so oh well.

I got up at about 5am central time this morning and it was posted on verizon's site otherwise I would not have known either till the blog.

BTW I have owned an iphone for over a year till I moved to Illinois and I had to switch to verizon cause here in Rockford, IL AT&T just sucked.

I liked the Iphone personally, It had its ups and downs but it was a solid phone for me, But from what I have been reading the Storm will blow it out of the water if they did it right. Which I have no doubts with Blackberry. I have read alot of Iphone haters out there and I wasn't sure what the fuss was about I liked the phone.

But everyone has there opinion. Can't wait till next friday :)

    -Drew
  • Caprice
Jerm, nice post. Just for the record, I have nevah owned an iPhone. Word of mouth alone was enough to make me wonder what all the fuss was about. I didn't get interested in the whole touch-screen thing until about a couple of months ago. Knew I wanted two things; a touch screen and a blackberry. Did a quick search to see if BB would be comin' out with a touch-screen n' that was my intro to the Storm.

Andrew! Thank you for sharin' that info. I could kick Verizon right now! I've signed up for email updates and the first I'm hearing about this updated info is from a blog!? Thanks again, Andrew!
  • @Andrew

You beat me to it! Thanks for posting, though. =D

You can read about the Verizon Storm official launch date and pricing information below:

    http://www.blackberrycool.com/2008/11/its-offic...
  • mR742
    Go to www.verizonwireless.com/storm

Price and release date have been posted
  • Sam
Now that vzw release the price I can finally stop posting comments here...it really bothered me when people just came out and try to kind of make others stop from waiting for the storm. Although I am staying with my blackberry curve I know 9530 will beat anything out in the market and when you get the phone you know why. Btw don’t forget to claim your $50 debit card if your porting in your number. Good thing about Verizon debit cards are that you can send the money directly from Verizon website to your bank account or print it as a $50 check or use it anywhere that accept VISA. Good luck to everyone and to iphone lovers, storm processes DATA 3 times faster than iphone, while streaming movie, sending ims, checking on EBay and sending picture MSG all at the same time oh I forgot iphone can’t do any of these things and still so slow. And fyi Apple offered iphone to Verizon first but Verizon didn’t accept the offer…google it
  • Angela
    Andrew:

Thanks for the update...goes to show you that all these bloggers that knew it all and were authorities...employees...management...we SO OUT OF THE LOOP and NOT EVEN CLOSE. How funny...we even had the pleasure of meeting a blogger that "help design the phone"...go figure!

This rondezvous has soured my future blogging because of all the misconstrued information passed on. I'll be opting out of this...for those of you that were fun and used this tool to blog not dictate...nice knowing you. For those of you that pretented to know it all...it was entertaining to see how hard you all worked to create a "storm frenzy".

    Angie :)
  • Andrew
All right boys and girls. Since I am an early riser I have found out that the phone will be relaeased friday the 21st for a price of $249.00 with a $50 mail in rebate making the price of the phone $199.00

So since all the speculation of when it is coming out is over this blog should be alittle bit more fun to read.

If you are wondering where I have gotten this information. Go to Verizon's Site front page.
  • hippiekid
Delays???? Just because we wanted it out on election day, then the fifteenth, black friday, doesn't mean there is any corporate delays!! the only visua evidence we have that actually LOOKS legit. is the e-mail that SAM gave us a tasty glimpse of. And even that doesn't prove a delay... If it is authentic sam could have scribled the dates, numbers out for suspense or just to keep his job! Come on folks what do you do when You no a storm is coming? grab a bowl and popcorn and RELAX. Angie, were'd the regulators go, you made this forum something to look at.
  • BiG P
sounds to me like Nick has an iphone and he's one of the first to get his and got stuck with a bad phone but with all these delays that means that verizon has already gotten rid of anything wrong with the phone... this phone will seriously blow the iphone out of the water in a week... good bye iphone this Storm is going to be BIG!
  • Eric
Jerm, I agree with most of what you said...but. Verizon may do or strive to do a better job of testing hardware to make sure it works as advertised when released, but to think the Storm will launch without any problems is pretty naive. Technology today is complicated, as I'm sure you know. With all the capabilities of today's phones its pretty easy for something to go wrong. If there was, indeed, a "problem" with the Storm causing the release to be pushed back then I applaud Verizon for making attempts to ensure people will be happy with the set.
  • Jim
HAHAHAHA Well said my friend, well said! They will be wishing they had one!
  • Jerm
I think what we have here is some people who have the iPhone and are kicking themselves for having it.

1st off us that are "Verizon customers" won't have to worry about our phones going ape s@#* on us and not working like you fellow "iPhone lovers." We have never had an official release date on the phone. Verizon is smart, they work out all the kinks and make the phone to perfection before they say when its going to be available. Unlike some providers, AT&T, who hurry up and rush a phone and then have people go crazy over a phone and then be COMPLETELY unhappy with it.

2nd we don't mind waiting for the release date. That just means that we won't have to spend hours upon hours waiting in line at a store, cough Apple store cough, waiting to get our phone fixed only to find out it has to be sent out.

3rd Verizon strives for Customer Service and Appreciation. They didn't jump all over the iPhone to try and get it, they found what people liked about it and hated about it. Then they waited for a phone that would blow the iS*** away, and it shows. From this blog they've gained two new customers just in the past two blogs, imagine how many more are going to switch. Why? Because this phone will run circles around the iPhone. While we may have to wait a couple extra days or weeks its still better then standing in line to get a phone fixed, and ESPECIALLY better then waiting over a year/two years for a phone to finally have all the kinks worked out after being released to the public.

To all the other "Storm Chasers" there is light at the end of the tunnel. In a matter of a week/two weeks we will have a phone that EVERYONE will be wanting and jealous of...even those "awesome" iPhone lovers finally have someone to hate, other than AT&T and Apple :)

    Good luck my fellow Chasers!
  • Caprice
Nick! That's what I'm afraid of! I doubt the Storm will be anywhere near as bad as the iPhone (which IMO, still sux), but these delays have me concerned. I just might (TRY to) hold off before gettin' the phone. Sam, re: the 50 Visa debit card... If that's true, awesome as I'll be a new VZW customer! Curious though, can this debit card be used anywhere for anything or only with Verizon? Some companies are slick like that. Also, do you get the debit card AND the mail-in rebate?
  • nick
guys i wouldn't buy this phone when it first comes out. its gonna be the same situation with the iphone. the first few months will be to work out kinks, then they will update it and it will work awesome. just wait a few months and keep your panties out of a bunch in the mean time...
  • BiG P
so it looks like the release date has change to the 24th... F*** im still stuck with no phone...
  • Richie G
While my sourse has been tight lipped all along about a release date she did say there was a software issue with the phone and they had to scamble to develop an update / fix and thats why there was no official release date. Can anybody confirm?
  • Sam
one more thing if your not with verizon right now when you switch your service to verizon you will get a $50 VISA debit Card.
  • mR742
Man Verizon is worse then a 18 yr old virgin...they tease and tease and tease, LOL... ty for the update SAM
  • Sam
and the link that blackberry cool addmin posted here about the release date from BGR is a photo shop and not an actual verizon material. i guess who ever made this poster didn't do his/her hw right cause all verizon posts, notices, emails have what its called a location code which you can find the location code underneath the verizon wireless logo on the top right. plus these type of informations don't get on posters. BGR also released a picture about Storm's Price (BS) where there is no MAP set for this phone and till we get the MAP, literally no one knows how much Storm will cost
  • Sam
i just want to say the official internal release for storm is set. unfortunately since this is an official release day i cant tell you all the exact day (i will get fire) all i can it will be available very soon to EVERYONE there is only one release date you wanna be VIP customer or the $9.99 customer or non verizon Customer or buying it Retail doesn't matter. make sure u sign up for the email you will get to know when u can get the phone before anyone else.
  • Josh
Somewhat off topic, but the UK is selling the phone free and just having a monthly bill of $35 a month with a signed agreement for 2 years. Is it possible that the United States will do things like the UK?
  • Tarheels
What does verizon consider a "high end customer"?
  • Tarheels
Na never mind is found the post
  • You can read all about the potential November 24th Storm launch here:

    http://www.blackberrycool.com/2008/11/verizon-b...
  • Tarheels
Na,what is bg mean & what is verizon calling a premium customer?
  • NA
BG just put a post saying Nov. 20th for "premium customers" and 24th for average joes.
    Price should be 199.
  • Tarheels
Sam,When will the last test be conducted and how much time will it take to know the results?
    Super fast I hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Sam
mR742 ...there is no official release date. if you look at the email it says according to the DATA meaning if everything goes as it planned it will be released on that day. i can tell you all that the phone wont be release on the 28th. verizon is ready to release it as soon as we get the result for the last test phone will be release. if the test fails storm will be a xmass itemm first week of december.
pricing for the DATA plans are $29.99, $44.99, 64.99 and if blackberry confrims phone it will be sold only for $99.99 if not somewhere between 199.99-249.99
  • John
This whole chain of dialogue is absolutely hilarious...I love it and keep it coming!
  • Hey guys!

Way to keep the conversation going! It's great to see that sooo many people want the Storm (or at least a clear indication of when the Storm is coming out!).

We haven't heard anything new in regards to a launch date, but have just posted some info on the Storm's possible price:

    http://www.blackberrycool.com/2008/11/verizon-b...

Obviously, this isn't confirmed, but $200 is a nice price!
  • Andrew
Not sure if this is reliable or not but i ran across it today.

    http://www.everythingberry.com/

I doubt that it is for real but just something I ran across.

Also about black friday, IMO that would be the worst day they could launch the phone. With the way the economy is atm, people are going to be spending money on christmas presents since it is the biggest shopping day of the year and not so much money on phones. That is my opinion so you can take it with a grain of salt if you like lol.

LOL w/ Ben. Big P, I see what you're saying. People are gonna be too occupied buyin' Chrismas gifts for the family. I'm gonna (try to) do all of my Christmas shopping early this year, but if I have to choose between gettin' my daughter's gifts or gettin' a phone, the phone can and will wait. I've waited this long, another couple of days ain't gonna hurt, lol. Then again, until VERIZON announces an official date and price, I'm just gonna try to relax. And Sam's right. Verizon never gave us a date. Just "Coming Soon." So I ain't mad at 'em. I'm just a l'il antsy... Especially after last night! I must've seen that new Storm commercial (where the guy turns the phone over and talks about the "click"...) a total of 8 times in three hours!
  • Lady
did anyone realize that november is spelled incorrectly? I think thats more important than when this phone will come out...
  • BiG P
i really think its stupid if verizon decides to release the phone on black not only because im going to be stuck working all day but because not everyone will go to verizon to purchase a phone everyone is going to be waiting in line at retail stores buying tv's etc...
  • Eric
For what it's worth, I went by my local vzw corporate store 2 days ago and asked about the Storm. They could not give me any details on launch date. They CSR did mention the set would be expensive "$300 or $400" for 2yr pricing. I know Blackberry's differ from other smartphone/pda's(i.e. Iphone, G1, etc.) but I can't help but think verizon and RIM may be outpricing themselves if they, indeed, sell it at 300 or 400 dollars. Why do you think Apple has sold so many Iphone's (3G) because its at a price point that many find hard to resist. when the original Iphone launched they did not nearly sell as many because of the price. Demand will be high for the Storm, but with this economy and other competition demand may not be as high as Verizon and RIM think at 300 or 400 bucks!
  • Ben
Yeah until it gets delayed till next Christmas.
  • Jim
One thing that we all need to remember is that there was never a "set" release date. All this blog is about is a "rumored" release date. I am sure there is a good reason for the "delay", and they want everything to be perfect. We need to get back to the positive things like what features we love and what color we might get, and how much this will kick the IPhone's butt! Ya we can speculate on the release date, but we don't need to argue like kids. We all can't wait for the phone, and I believe it will be well worth the wait. Can't we all just get along! Hopefully soon we will have a sweet phone, then we will be on the blogs about which APPS we want and have and can't live without.
  • Andrew
Hahaha walt that is good stuff!
  • Caprice
LOL @ your new phone, Walt. Cheers.
  • Caprice
OFF TOPIC! Not about the Storm, but I have to respond to WALT! LOL, as slow as our new President(-elect)!!!??? Hey, he's not even in the white house yet and he's begun selecting his cabinet! Clinton didn't start doin' that until 5 days before he was sworn in on January 15th! Obama's not wasting a second! Trust me, there are NO flies around our new President(-elect)!

Back to topic, how do you like your new phone? :)
  • Ben
I just want to say that Verizon and BlackBerry are the most backwards company I have ever delt with.
  • Ben
    Walt thats funny.
  • Kelsey
Does anyone know how much the data plans are going to cost? I have never had a phone that requires one! :)
  • Gaget
I would like to say that after visiting a local Verizon store this weekend I was told the Storm would arrive no later than Nov. 27.
  • Walt
I can't believe that everyone is still arguing about when the new Blackberry is being released. It was released here in Canada last week and here's a picture of mine to prove it. You Americans are so slow. Almost as slow as your new president.

    http://calgaryprices.com/admin/photos/uploads/t...
  • mR742
TY Sam but you just confused me a little. The email seems to have the release date blacked out which indicates to me that there is a corporate estimated release date but you are saying it is delayed?
  • Caprice
I believe that some people here are sharing info on what they believe will be the release date with good intentions. They're just as excited about the Storm as we all are. It's frustrating, I know! Like John C, I was thinking of unsubscribing to this blog. But I'll continue to read what you all have to say as it's a great way to kill time during down time at work.

I'm very sure that this phone'll be worth the wait. Until Verizon officially announces a release date and price, I'll just eagerly yet patiently wait out the storm surrounding the Storm.
  • Sam
Okay I see that there is and a lot of people here upset with Verizon and Blackberry. To remind everyone Verizon never said anything about when the phone will be available. Store managers, customer service and etc will not have any information about the phone at all. Verizon is about quality unlike ATT that’s only about quantity. Due to the failure of the last testing there is no release day for the phone as I know. there are a lot of new features are added to the phone such as streaming Movies on ur Blackberry which first both for Verizon and blackberry. Now a lot of people also upset about all the people who say they from Verizon and provide falsie information. I got an approval to release one of the emails that was sent to me about the phone. Click on it and read the email.

  • Andrew
I would agree Richie, I am not impressed with the way they have choosen to advertise this product. They are going to loose some money imo because of it.
  • Richie G
Well you can blame Verizon and Blackberry... I mean what company doesnt set a launch date for one of their most anticipated products....

I launch new items monthly in a different industry and having an accurate launch date is the key to getting your product into the consumers hands. You never want to set negative press before the item launches and thats exactly what is happening here. Some people will be patient and wait while others could chose another phone and or service. Terrible marketing campaign by those "monster corporations"!
  • Andrew
Thanks Angela for trying to keep some what of an order on this blog. I have been following this blog for a couple weeks now and it has gotten out of control and I am not sure what to believe anymore. I just talked to verizon today when I called and they confirmed that they still don't have a release date, however she did say that they will have an abundance of stock. She said unlike the envy they will be overly prepared for this launch. That is all that was said. So for all you who are getting info from your friends, cousins sisters mom said this please just quit ruining this blog for others that like to communicate on it.

    Thanks
    Drew
  • Ben
This whole blog is out of control. Allot of I heard this from a friend of a friend who heard from someone in there office that knows the secutary of the boss that went to a lanch party that was told by this person...come on everyone until you can show me cold hard proof I will be hoping for it to still be lanched very soon. There are a couple of adults here like Angela. To all of you that think they heard of something please keep it to your self until you really know something.
  • Renee
I am a customer service manager for Verizon Customer Service in Atlanta and we received demo devices and training last week and the confirmed date is Nov 28. Emails went out this past weekend.
  • EJ
Correction to earlier post. NT, I'm sure you "were" not promoting a rebellion.
  • Angela
    John:

Probably many others will make the same choice. Really unfortunate because this could have been a great tool of communication...but became a vehicle of lies and kindergarten behavior.

    Angie
  • Ed
I just got back from a launch party in Dublin Ohio. I was told Nov 23rd and the price will be 199.00.
We did get to spend 2 hours playing with it and the touch screen is very nice.
  • EJ
I think what NT proposed irresponsible. Sure, there may or may not be a delay, which will lead to some disappointed consumers, but to suggest a mass order and return of phones to spite verizon is a reckless suggestion. With the current state of the economy, including express delivery competitor DHL's announcement of serious closures and cutbacks, an intentional inflation of operating costs for verizon merely because we can't wait patiently for the release of the storm is at the very least childish. I know it would not actually happen, as many would not jump on board. But the mere suggestion demonstrates that we have a long road to recovery. Not to mention the position verizon may take in response (i.e. no longer providing free delivery and return). And no, I'm not a verizon loyalist; just a regular 'ol businessman. Sorry for the sort of off-topic rant. And NT, nothing personal, as I'm sure you was not promoting a rebellion and are just frustrated. Anyhow, I await the release of the storm patiently as most of us do.
  • John C
Because of all of the crap being written on here, I am unsubscribing to this blog, and just waiting for the phone to come out.

    Seriously, get a life people!!!
  • Angela
I've been as polite as one could be listening to all these wanna be representatives of Verizon and Blackberry. This blog has turned into a TRAIN WRECK. No two stories are the same and they become more and more entertaining.

Not sure who everyone is talking to...but every time I call corporate and ask them they tell me the release date is unconfirmed...am I missing something here? Employees tell me they know as much as me...and what ever upper management knows (other than test driving the phone) they keep quiet...that is why they are UPPER MANAGEMENT (unlike those blogging that claim to be).

First...VERIZON NEVER CONFIRMED JACK and if they did it was a tentative date...from the get go. All the disappointments and tabliod garbage has been created by the bloggers. Grow up everyone.

When Verizon and Blackberry are ready, they'll launch. Maybe their intention was to launch on Black Friday and their target was misconstrued by the babies out there that are discrediting and misrepresenting them.

Verizon and Blackberry are monster corporations that follow stringent planning, development and tweaking policies...unlike all those hap-hazard wanna bee's that claim to "know it all". If you read up the blog we have had the pleasure of meeting developers of the phone (yea right), upper management (I don't think so), and deliverers of "first hand information" (received in their dreams).

The guys that are the REAL DEAL from Verizon and Blackberry would probably be horrified if they read the misrepresations that have been keeping this blog alive as long as it has.

Verizon and Blackberry are about to release their newest state of the art technology in a touch screen phone...let them have their glory guys and stop the garbage blogging.
  • NT
Bad news... I heard today that they are still having software issues therefore the release date is pushed back to November 23rd instead of the 16th. It will come out the week of Black Friday and the beginning of the shopping season, however Verizon will not delay it any longer because shoppers will buy other phones, most likely the iphone when they are out shopping. I guess we all have the wait another couple of weeks.

Since Verizon is not communicating with its consumer, I say everyone should buy their phone and return it within the 30 day period to get the storm once it comes out. This will cause them to spend massive amount of money on the free overnight shipping and processing of returned items. We are also allowing their warehouse workers to keep their jobs.
  • Angela
    Thanks Ben...enjoy your Sunday!

    Angie :)
  • Ben
    Angela

Just wanted to say that is one of the smartest things I have read on here.
  • Angela
With all due respect to all those that are passing on the news of the Storm launch being held up...what validation do you all have or is this just more hearsay?

I just find it so hard to believe that being so close they (Verizon and Blackberry together) are just deciding to tweak and get the wrinkles out...

If you look back at this blog, there are some facts and mostly fiction. I do not have a problem waiting for something that will be released nothing less than perfect, but seems very unlikely that these phones would be all packaged and off the production line and Blackberry is wanting to tweak again...it seems like it would be a recall before it's even been released. I could see if they were just in the planning or testing stages.

With that being said, unless anyone can clearly identify themselves as a corporate representative of either companies including their position with the company...I don't buy it.
  • Ben
I really highly doubt that it will be postponed much longer just got off the phone with yet another Risk Manager because I am in charge of outfitting the whole company that I am employeed with new phones I asked the Risk Manager how much longer we will have to wait and he still told me to hold with the whole mid month thing. I asked him about the whole rumor thing and he simply put it this way one person says one thing and it goes to 2 of his friends and they tell 2 each and so on and so on and people like any other animal are simply like this a person him/herself are very smart now you get a bunch of people together and they panic.
  • Caprice
*sigh* I'm not mad at BlackBerry and Verizon for postponing the release of this phone until it's perfect. Actually, that's was I was told by a rep at my local VZW; they wanna get all the glitches out. But how is it that Formula 1 driver, Lewis Hamilton has one already? Hmmm...? BlackBerry has a great reputation to protect and Verizon...well, they ain't T-Mobile. Just about every new T-Mobile phone lacks some basic feature(s), had a glitch or glitches or is just the same old stuff with a different exterior. At first, I was gonna get a Dare or a Voyager and play with the whole touch-screen thing in the hopes that the doggone Storm would come out w/in the 30-day trial period. At this point, I dunno. Wanted to get the Storm on day one, but even if the it comes out on the 15th or 16th which is what I'd expected, I just may wait. All of this talk of postponements and glitches has made me nervous. Heck, I might even wait for the 2nd generation of Storms! Gettin' tired of this...
  • BiG P
but their doing all this talk to more people are more interested in it... what really sucks though is i sold my Dare like 3 weeks ago thinking the Storm would release on the 9th but NO! the date keeps getting pushed, so i been without a phone for 3 weeks sucks for me but im sure its worth the wait... Storm is going to be way better than the iphone...
  • BiG P
oh now that is going to be really whack if it does release on black friday i work at Fry's Electronics and i will be at work from 3:30AM to 12 Midnight and i wont have a chance to go get my Storm...
  • Chamuco
I was shopping at my local mall today, they have three small Verizon shops there. One of the shops had a small pocket size brochure on the Storm. The worker there stated the Storm would be release the day after Thanksgiving. On the second shop one of the workers stated it would be release next week. On the last shop they stated the Storm would be release in two weeks. Each shop had a different release date. I agree just sit back and wait for the Storm to hit. Hopefully not to long.
  • Jerm
I'll just be glad whenever they do release this phone. Verizon has done a HORRIBLE job with this. They first started mentioning this phone back in September and here we are two months later with STILL no confirmed release date on their website. The closest we have got to the phone from Verizon is a 360 virtual demo on their website..whoopie! Release the freakin phone already. If they weren't ready they shouldn't of started all this talk about it.
  • Angela
Think there should be an age requirement to participate in these blogs because it seems like we have a bunch of over tired kindergarten'ers particpating. NAP TIME little ones...
  • Ben
I agree with you also if you think about it there are already people with the phone in hand like the guy that won the Formula Racing he has one already its ready people are just trying to make people sweat.
  • Green
Adam's is right about the release time being later in the Month. Verizon will release this device on November 28-day after Thanksgiving for the Mega shopping Holiday. If Verizon continues to delay they will begin to lose customer's which in todays market place can cost millions of dollars because they can't do right.

    Now! Can you hear ME?
  • Angela
Adam...in all fairness I cannot imagine so close to launch they are just finding issues enough to stop launch and tweak...that would have been finished WEEKS ago. I think these blogs are wearing me out...think I'm just going to stay under the radar and not listen to all the self appointed chiefs...we need some indians running around...curious...what is your positon with Verizon...haven't heard anything from any corporate offices here in Florida.

These phones are all neatly packaged and ready to fly...

Quite frankly I think if Verizon corporate got wind of all the "employees with authority" that are bean shooting and contributing misleading information on these blogs, they would probably be passing out a bunch of pink slips.

I'll wait to hear from the big fish...VERIZON.
  • Adam
i just recieve an email that i have to be at work tomorrow....we have a network problem with Storm which it will delay the release of the phone to NOV 28 or later. i think phone needs to be sent back to rim in that case Storm is a Xmass gift. so no more NOV 15. im sorry guys verizon is very restrict about mkaing sure the phone is working perfectly
  • Green
A source inside Verizon tells me the Blackberry Storm will be released November 28, 2008 (Black friday) in hopes of the biggest sell date to occur. This also makes great sense to do it on that date which offers both a discount on purchasing this device as well, making it one of the hottest items for the Christmas Tree stockers.
  • Tarheels
    Sam,
How many phones will each Verizon store be receiving?
  • Ben
Well I just squased your whole Best Buy does not get it the same time becuase call up *611 on your phone and ask the rep or even the Risk Manager if they will get it the same time and he/she will tell you they will all get it at the same time Sam you were sadly mistaken and if you want to say no to this I suggest that you talk to the Risk Manager or costmer service rep sorry I just did and found out if you do Pre-Order from Best Buy you will get it the same time as the verizon stores get it and even better you will def get one instead of woundering if they will be in stock well I hope this helps and Sam dont just say stuff without doing your research.
  • Tarheels
    Sam,
Can you explain why the stores can only activate 20 phones per store per day?
  • Ben
OK we will see then I will make sure I send you a pic when I get mine, since you have all the answers just like when they launched the BB 8830 world edition I guess everyone that got theres from BB the same with everyone else but you know you know everything. LOL
  • Sam
They will not. The phone is exclusive for Verizon corporate stores only (stores in BJ's and C.city are corporate own) for the first three weeks and BestBuy is Verizon Authorized Retailer.
  • Ben
Actually BestBuy will be getting it the same time as everyone else since thay also can do activation.
  • Sam
Phone is distributed from Verizon...so if you go to bestbuy and order it you will have to wait at least 3 weeks or more to get your phone.
  • Sam
What Jim Said is or what he was told is absolutely right. Phone is not under testing however, what we call this stage is the try-out stage where testers will test the phone for 8 days. (Usually we don’t do that for most of the phones) but VZW decided to that for the Storm. Unless something goes wrong with the Try-out phone is defiantly in stores on Nov 16th. MAX activation for the phone is 20 per day per store.
  • Jim
So I just went in and talked my good friend and Manager of the VZW store. I was hoping to see a demo, but it's not there yet. He told me that the Storm has not passed the "3rd" stage of testing yet, and they don't want to release it until it does. They don't want it to be like the Iphone and have lots of trouble and updates right away. He said to come by the 15th, and he should have it or know when its coming out. He also said that if you go to www.vzw.com/storm and sign up on the email list, they will email you before everyone else knows. I was on the list last week when the page updated and received emails right away from them about the phone. I think that them not releasing the phone until they have all the glitches worked out is smart because it will bring better reviews and happier customers, even know I want it now!!

    CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!!!
  • hippiekid
hey guys check it out, I got one of those annoying free txts from verison stating that I was "now eligable for an upgrade" so i called the number 18002549751 and told the operator(i wish i would have got her name) I was interested in upgrading but I wanted to get on a 'waiting list' (which she informed me that they weren't accepting) She told me to call back on the 15th and talk to them then?Coincidence? Or I could wait till Dec. and recieve $50 off (dnt no if thats cuz of the term of my current plan or what) Believe this though, I AINT WAITIN TILL DEC. even if it was a bill or more in savings!
  • Caprice
John, I wish you all the luck in the world getting your Storm! Legally.
  • Ben
I hope this helps everyone if you want to get your hands on this go to bestbuy and preorder the phone with a 50 dollar refundable deposite also the cost of the phone is about 699 so far the real price they don't know but best buy can guarntee you a phone you might have to tell them about it.

    Big news!!!!

A friend of mine was just walking down Michigan Ave in Chicago. They have a booth set up in Millennium Park and are raffling off a STORM!!!!!

He said he got to see a demo of it, and it's amazing.

I just got so excited, I'm going to run down there in about 45 minutes to see if I can check it out. Yes, I am going to try to steal it.
  • Caprice
I've been readin' info on the Storm each day on so many different sites, I can't even keep track... Kinda like McCain and the actual number of homes he owns. Anywho, I saw something on some site yesterday that showed a form from Best Buy sayin' that they're gonna get the phones on 11/16! A few minutes ago, I found this article re: Best Buy's pre-selling the Storm! Check it out...if interested. http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/11/05/best-...
  • Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I've updated this post with a link to our BlackBerry Storm Launch Roundup Page, which has more recent information. You can find it at the link below:

  • Ted
Got an email our National Account Manager from Verizion for our company account and she said "The blackberry storm is due to arrive in the next few weeks. I will be sure to provide a demo devise for testing and certifying when available" Lets hope it is next week and not 2 more weeks to wait.

Okay everyone...just receive an update (I joined mailing list) email from Verizon subject line: Experience the worlds first touch screen Blackberry

The click through from the email is http://estore.vzwshop.com/storm/?email=Responsy...

SIMPLY SAYS COMING SOON! No release date.
  • Tarheels
Richie,I will be camping at my local verizon store for this phone.
  • patrick
Guess it wasn't the 4th, as its Nov 6th now!
  • Angela
Richie: The iPhone will never be a Blackberry nor will the Blckberry ever be an iPhone. Why are you so angry about Verizon customers getting excited about a new product with great features. Come on Richie, when the iPhone was first launched it was a train wreck.

Bottom line is the Storm will NEVER be an iPhone, NOR DO I WANT IT TO BE. The touch option on the Storm will run circles around the iPhone and simplify the touch screen world. Nothing but rave reviews about the technology.

I have one friend out of about 7 that actually stuck with his iPhone. The rest of them hated it...too sensative...not to mention that Verizon customers have THE NETWORK and the ATT towers and coverage sucks...

If I was handed a free iPhone right now I would turn it down and wait for the Storm.

Hey Richie...good luck to you...this is a blog for the BLACKBERRY STORM not a blog for the iPhone.

By the way...no validation out there regarding blocked options...just hearsay now...I'll be sure to let you know though!

    CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?
  • Richie G
ANGELA - Sure in commercials but not once mentioned on mainsteam news... Again, there won't be people camping out to get a Storm like there was for the Iphone... And why no comment back regarding Verizon locking options..Its a known fact that they do it on every phone!
  • Adam
one thing i dont get its people with iphone commenting here...name of the website is BLACKBERRYcool this is about Blackberry...if you like your iphone then just stay with it or go buy one
  • Angela
Richie - Haven't heard of the Storm, then why are you here? Storm TV spots have been running for a couple of weeks now...it's a shot of a Storm on a desk and they are talking about this new Blackberry and a hand reaches out to pick it up (it's faced down and you only see the black back)...just as they are getting ready to turn it around to see the front screen and phone the TV Spot goes black.

What do you have now...a pay as you go?
  • John C
    Matt-

That's great news, I'll head over there today! I was thinking of going to the one on North Ave, and see what they have to say.
  • Caprice
mR742, let's review the comments above. If you can show me where Janie has claimed to own a Storm PRIOR to Angie's comment with all the questions (as claimED is past tense), I will shut up.
  • Matt
    John-

That's the one. I also put myself on the list at the one in ogilvee train station. The guys there were more helpful and told me they probably will not get them this Thursday, but next. And the second they come in they will call me to come pick one up. I am still going to go to the one on LaSalle today. They are assuring me if you are on the list you will get one the day they get them.

    So... we will see!
  • Richie G
"Hats off to Verizon for a brilliant marketing strategy…this phone is probably more anticipated than the iPhone. Hope we’re not disappointed…but with all I’ve read and seen…can’t imagine anything less than amazing."

LOL... Haven't heard about the Storm once on TV or in the news and don't hear them worried about people camping out to get one even when they do annouce a date so not sure how you could say its more anticipated. Plus, Verizon is known to lock options on their phones. Why would you pay for a phone in which all options are not available? Suckas!
  • Richie G

Jerm: I think it depends on the size of the store and how friendly you are with your reps. My local store is small even though it's a corporate store and we are in there all time...even drop them all pizza's for lunch every now and then. They are "taking names" and promised to give a heads up call as soon as they find something out. That means they can call with a release date or that the phone is in stock at the store. Still no promises or "holding" one on the side. The moment they pull the phone from the back they have to scan it and start activation. So pretty much if you're not there they can't hold the phone.

Regardless, each store will recieve between 8 and 12 units so the immediate availability on location will be sparce. My intention is to call my local store on release date. If they have them in stock, cool. If not I'll have it next day shipped from the customer service toll free number. Went through the same thing with my daughters Voyager.

Hats off to Verizon for a brilliant marketing strategy...this phone is probably more anticipated than the iPhone. Hope we're not disappointed...but with all I've read and seen...can't imagine anything less than amazing.
  • BiG P
yeah everyone saying they got the Storm are a bunch of liars the phone aint even out yet...
  • Jerm
I would like to know how some Verizon stores are some how taking "waiting lists" on this phone. I'm a VIP customer and I called not only Verizon a couple times but e-mailed them and spoke to reps in multiple corporate stores in a couple states...no one knows anything about this "wait lists". Your better off ordering on the website the day its released. You'll probably get one sooner than some people on this "wait list" at their local store.
  • Angela
Call Verizon Customer Service at 800-922-0204. Ask them when the release date is. They'll tell you the same thing over and over..."We're not sure but we think by the third week of November". Then call your local Verizon store that you do business with. Same thing. So here's the thing...if Verizon employees both on upper and lower management levels don't know...why would these bloggers know? And I'll tell you one thing...I'm hooked up at my Verizon Store and if there were any leaks I would know for sure.

Not pointing any fingers or saying anyone has lied...just find it really hard to swallow that some have already purchased the phone. There are none to be found on any search anywhere...maybe some demos floating around...but even my local Verizon store has not had a hands on demo...only upper management.

    Am I missing something here?

    Caprice:

"Angela - For all those bean shooters out there that claim they have purchased the phone…you should have no problem validating your story...Bet ya’ can’t answer cause you are all shooting hot air."

"Janie - To help answer Angela’s questions:..."

    I hope that helps you.
  • Caprice
mR742, how did Angela get owned? The poster who claims that they've "got one" from the Verizon Store at the Galleria Mall in Houston didn't respond. That's who Angela's inquiries were directed to. So until "I GOT ONE!!!" can post some pix, Angela did NOT get "pwnd."
  • John C
    Matt,

What Chicago location are you referring to? The one on S. LaSalle?? That's the one where I put my name on the list. If that's the one, I'll see you there at noon tomorrow!!
  • Matt
Just got back from the store in downtown Chicago, the guy there is expecting shipment tomorrow afternoon and a release date of the 11th. But he was not sure of it. He told me to stop by tomorrow afternoon and he would let me know, and let me play around with one if they get them. No pricing as of yet, but he thinks 199
  • mR742
    Angela = pwnd
  • Jim
Another question!! Where did you get it??
  • Caprice
WOW! Janie, thanks for takin' the time to share all of that! I have one more question... What does it feeeeeel like?
  • lilnosh
    to mr. scott

that was just a thought and if u had the sim. you would have thought the same
  • Jim
Haha. You go Girls!! So I talked to my "rep" and he said the 15th. But they are not supposed to "officially" confirm that until the "official" release statement. They don't have the pricing yet though. This phone is worth waiting for, and will be great. It looks like the VZW site says is comes with 1GB onboard, and a 8GB card. I can't wait til we can put the 32GB card in. I still can't wait!
  • Richie G
Whats the under / over on the amount of options Verizon locks?
  • Janie
    To help answer Angela's questions:

What kind of packaging did it come in? Just the standard Verizon red and grey box with a syrofoam insert. Nothing special. I was actually expecting more.
What did the CD cover? 2 CDs. One with the documentation in electronic format and another with all the extra software, including the iTunes type photo/video/music sync software
How many manuals came with it? Just 1 manual. But I used the CD to look up functions.
Did you have color choices? Yes, only 2, black and silver. The other colors were special order or via customer service.
Where is the battery located? The battery is under the case. You can't access it as easy as the regular Blackberry. It's almost like the iPod in that you have to take the back outer shell off.
Is the memory built in or can it be removed and upgraded past the 8G. 8GB memory is built in and you can upgrade it to 16.
What default screen does it come with? Mine came with a default Verizon logo screen with a Today theme.
How many themes are loaded in? Looks like 3 themes. The default theme, a Today organizer type theme, and a application view theme.

    Hope this helps,

    Sincerely,
    Janie
  • NA
I just called the closest Verizon store and the guy told me the release was "sometime in December."
I hope he doesn't know what he's talking about...
  • Jake
I THINK THE STORM HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!!!!!
  • Angela
Thanks Caprice...guess when we called them out they ran like roaches in the light!

Happy Election Day my Friends! I VOTED... :)
  • mR742
Can someone link to the downloadable sim, thnx...
  • Caprice
    GET 'EM, ANGELA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (applause)

    LOL w/ Scott!
  • Caprice
Yeah, lilnosh, my simulator does say November 4th today... Then again, today IS November 4th, so....lol. I never paid any attention to the date before. Too busy lookin' at all the other features. I've already voted; got that outta the way. Wish I coulda gonna str8 from votin' to gettin' my phone... Even though I've signed up for updates at both the VZW and BlackBerry sites, I haven't received ANYTHING! What's up with that?
  • Kati
For those that have not looked, Verizon has updated the Blackberry Storm part of the website: www.verizonwireless.com/storm it now show all of the features that the phone will have along with visual clips. I have called them and the phone has NOT released as of 11am on Nov. 4th and "no one" seems to have an answer as to when it will release. It was suggested by customer service that I contact my local store, and they also had no idea when it would release. I really wish they would quit playing games and release the phone already...
  • Angela
For all those bean shooters out there that claim they have purchased the phone...you should have no problem validating your story. What kind of packaging did it come in? What did the CD cover? How many manuals came with it? Did you have color choices? Where is the battery located? Is the memory built in or can it be removed and upgraded past the 8G. What default screen does it come with? How many themes are loaded in?

Bet ya' can't answer cause you are all shooting hot air.
  • Scott
What a stupid ace post. Where's the phone??? That's what I thought. Nice try though dummy
  • lilnosh
    @Caprice
does ur simulator's date say Tuesday, November 4? if so, mayb thiys cud b a clue all along.. hmm..
  • Sam
some dumb-ass is trying to be me and writing on this wall ijust wanna say it is not me and prob a same person that has the iphone
  • Sam
Guys, stop being ignorant and listen to me. I know what I am talking about because I am the one who designed this phone. I just got out of a meeting with the president of Blackberry and the Touch will be released this Thursday Nov 6 so as not to interfere with the election tomorrow. Storm will be priced $249.95 (after $25 mail-in Rebate) with a 3yr contract. 1yr contract will be $10 more after $39 Mail-in Rebate. Retail(no contract) will be $449.95 with a $96 mail-in rebate and a 2 year contract.
  • Angela
Caprice...I'm a New York transplant here now in Florida! I'm guessing it will be a challenge regardless of where we are in the country...my my Verizon store has me on their hot list...so I'm confident I'll get it on launch...if not I'll call customer care and have it next day shipped...I LOVE my CURVE lol...but ready to divorce it and marry the STORM!
  • Richie G
I was told Monday Nov 17th
  • Caprice
Angela, thanks for providin' the link to that vzw page. Are you in NYC? If so, are you gonna join the "Storm Hunt"? Have you downloaded the Storm simulator? PLEASE do if you haven't already! You'll love it. Wait a minute! I haven't even played with my own simulator today yet! S'cuse me...
  • Anonymous
    November 16th. Get ready!
  • Angela
I agree with Caprice...if it's too good to be true, than it probably isn't going to happen. All Verizon stores are taking the phone numbers of their current clients that want to be notified and they will contact you when the phone is available. What I was told is we are probably better off order it from the Verizon Customer Care phone number with a next day delivery because each store will only receive a handful...may ten at the most and unless you are there bright and early...you'll be disappointed!

I'm guessing if you're not eligible for an upgrade you're probably looking at at least $500.00 which is comparable to all RETAIL Blackberrys purchased outside of your contract limitations. So to all the Mr. 99buck's out there...better start looking for change under the sofa cushions...it won't come cheap.
  • Caprice
Jeff, lol! Awww, give "Sam" a break. But I must say, $99 sounds a little too good to be true. Anyone desperate and impatient enough can get one (or more) from eBay. Somehow, there are some available there, but they're a lot more than $99. I'm gonna painstakingly wait for one of my local Verizon's to make it available. *sigh*
  • Angela
This is way too funny...gee...more hype over this than the election! I just spoke with corporate Verizon...they don't even have a launch date firm yet...they said sometime around the 15th of November...as far as being able to purchase it anywhere...NOT TRUE...I also think some of you are confusing the new Pearl colors with the Storm.

I do know that it has 8G built in...and it is kick bootie. If you visit the following link and click on the 360 tour, it will blow you away. http://estore.vzwshop.com/storm/

Relax everyone...good things are worth the wait.
  • Jeff
    @Sam AKA "Mr. Verizon"

Dude, get a life. I bet you even look like the Verizon guy from the Alltel commercial... look out, here comes the owner of the dog you stole!!!
  • Jim
Haha.. Yep No Pics! That guy is full of it! I am not sure Sam is for real or not, but if it's $99 I will have to get two! haha. And I am not sure how they got "sandstorm", but if it has "storm" in the name it must be good!! LOL
  • Garrett
Haven't bought one yet but am going to pick one up tonight. Have seen a few around this weekend in the Hartford, CT area but have heard they are selling out quick. I think the sandstorm color will look really cool.
  • Caprice
LMAO @ "pics or it didn't happen."

The colors! The colors! I'm tryna imagine what sandstorm looks like!? Is that gonna be like, a goldish color?
  • Sam
There is absolutely no way that any stores will have the phone in-stock. Plus you can't use storm till the 6th because it would be the first day storm is available in our network
  • NA
    @I GOT ONE!!

    Pics or it didn't happen.
  • John
Are you serious??? That's even better news!!!
  • Sam
i just want to say that storm will be only $99.99 W/2yr contract
  • I GOT ONE!!!
They just went on sale here in Houston! A buddy of mine went by the Verizon store at Galleria Mall yesterday and they already had 10 in stock. So we both upgraded and bought one. $299.99 with a $70 rebate. Man, this this rocks!!! The hype about the touch screen really is true! The feedback is awesome. LOVE THIS PHONE!
  • BiG P
haha... yeah i think blue would be sweet to but i might just stick to black...
  • Jim
Hahaha.. You go get your IPHONE... Then when you can't get calls or use anything but your precious WiFi, you will be running back to the Eye Of The STORM! haha PS.. What color is everyone gettin?? BLUE, SANDSTORM, SILVER or BLACK?? I got that from here: http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,859... I think the Blue would be sweet!!
  • BiG P
i hate everyone who thinks they all badass with there iphone... all i have to say is the iphone aint shit...
  • BiG P
    lol... i agree 100% too...
  • Caprice
LOL w/ BiG P. With the introduction of each new touch screen mobile phone, a comparison to the iPhone is made. I don't believe the iPhone was the first, it was just the first to get all the crazy hype. It's like Ugg boots. IMO, Ugg's ain't the best, but Cameron Diaz and Pam Anderson wear 'em so... Methinks comparing the Storm to the iPhone is like comparing the Concorde to the Wright Brothers' plane.
  • BiG P
wow look at this guy how can you even think of the iphone... shits whack just like mac...
  • Richie G
Sorry, I need a phone now and not getting caught up in waiting games so if they can't make a decision then I'm going with the Iphone....
  • Caprice
Angela, I hope that stuff about each store prolly receiving 10 Storms or less ain't true! I've got my name on Storm lists at a couple of locations, so hopefully I won't have to camp out or anything like that, lol. Part of me wants to wait a few days after the Storm's release to see what folks have to say. But realistically, I know I'm gettin' it on day 1! Now if you'll excuse me, I must put the finishing touches on my Dear John letter to T-Mobile.
  • Angela
Spoke to my Verizon Rep from the corporate store. Only management has test driven it so if anyone is saying anything different I wonder about how valid the sources are. Employees have had some training, but no hands on at all. Only upper management. Their intention is to hype everyone and make an explosive launch that is why ther is NO FIRM RELEASE DATE. I was told the phone will have 8G of memory with the option to upgrade with a 16G card, but the upgrade is not firm either.

Verizon is doing a great job in keeping this under the radar and from here on in, the only way a firm release date will be confirmed is when Verizon formally announces it...so everyone relax. Verizon employees don't even know the launch date (according to my rep) and if they do they are doing a great job keeping it a secret.

Probably best way to get it is to order it over the phone through the main customer service because I was told each store will probably receive ten or less to creat a strong sense of urgency among the public. I was also told that some store will have police supervision on launch date because people are going to camp out.

Last...I was told that this phone is going to make the iPhone look like a Fisher Price Toy!

Patient (NOT) and counting the days...I'm going to have a going away party for my Curve which up until I got wind of this phone was my favorite.
  • Tarheels
I talked to the local verizon store where I live and they told me release date is Nov 15th.
Sam can you verify this info?
  • BiG P
Sam your talking about the HTC Diamond thats set for sometime 2009 but im talking about the other HTC Touch its called RAPHAEL with the flip out keyboard its being released in November there is also the Samsung OMNIA being released in November
  • Jim
Hey "LJltra"... I am not sure were your getting your phone, but if it is "comning out tomorrow for businesses" than I want to know where? I talked to my store and the 15th is still the day. I will fly there and get one tomorrow if its possible. And it will DOMINATE the IPHONE.. haha
  • LJltra
I just contacted my local Verizon store and they informed me that the blackberry storm will come out for businesses tomorrow and the store will be selling it come next week, on or after November 4 (Election Day). "It is going to be the most technically advanced phone to hit the market" said the salesman. How will it compare to the iPhone I asked, he responded "It doesn't compare to the iPhone, it's far superior.
  • Angela
LOL...HTC Touch is a DIFFERENT PHONE from the Storm...dahhhhhhhhhh....sorry everyone...I guess I am really confused!
  • Angela
Can someone explain what HTC Touch is. I thought this phone was a touch phone...but then some of you are saying the HTC will not be released. I'm confused :(
  • Caprice
*drool* This phone is so sweeet. But anything worth having is worth waiting for, yes?
  • Sam
HTC touch will not be released on NOV. it will be the most expensive phone that VZW will carry Upgrd price 349.99-399.99

Strom will be priced $199.99-$249.99 (after $70 mail-in Rebate) with a 2yr contract. 1yr contract will be $70 more after $70 Mail-in Rebate. Retail(no Contract) somewhere around $500-$600. Verizon will have a mark-up on the phone so if you getting the phone on retail buy it from a third party (amazon, Autorized Retailers, etc)
  • BiG P
    For vzwcustomer
the HTC Touch Diamond is set to release in November too...
  • felicia
    Sam,

I am due for an upgrade next week. How much do you think the Storm will cost me?
  • Jim
I just sent the link to the Blackberry Cool staff so they can post it if they want. What I have is a picture of the accessory guide copied into an Excel spreadsheet. I took the Pic to my rep and he confirmed the accessories and their SKU numbers in the Verizon System. Also, if you haven't found the simulator yet, you need to!! It is sweet! It allows you to do just about anything the STORM does, including simulated calls, tilting the phone, pics, maps, etc. I would post the link I used, but they already found it and shut it down. haha

    Jim
  • Tarheels
    Hey Jim,
Is there a website that shows accessories? If what is the site?
  • Also, in case any non-Verizon Storm users are wondering when their version is coming out, we've posted a launch date round up here:

    http://www.blackberrycool.com/2008/10/blackberr...

Of course, all dates are subject to change, but we're not too far away!
  • @Jim or anyone else:

if you have info you'd like us to post (like an equipment guide or anything else), please send it to us!

You can use the contact form at the top right-hand corner of the site (on the gray bar) to get in touch.
  • Jim
Oh ya!! And PS. the "equipment guide" is out. I have seen a list of the accessories and there SKUs. Time to get excited VZWEMPLOYEEE..
  • Jim
I can not wait for the 15th. I have the simulator and I can't stop playing with it! This thing is gonna be sweet! I think I am going to start making my first app now. Or at least trying to. haha The rumor is that it might come out with 2GB of built in memory instead of 1GB. That is what my Rep said. That would be sweet! Naybe SAM can confirm this for us.??.. Also, it is coming with an 8GB card in the box!! I guess I can take back the 4GB one I just got. haha.. IPhone your going down!!
  • Sam
i just want to say that the release date is set to be on the 15th of NOV. You can Pre-order it from the website first week of Nov.
you can stop by at any VZW Store and ask them to add your name to the "storm list"...this way vzw have an idea of how many people are actually interested on the phone.
some people asked about the HTC touch. i have to say its a great phone and vzw edition will have no limitation on the phone.

someone asked about bloking features...there are GPS, Bluetooth, OTA MAD downloads, are the three famous one that everyone complains but they don't understand the reasons behind it. i try to explain it but i guess cant change peoples mind.
  • Jim
The 15th is the day!! I can't wait. I also verified this with my rep!!
  • vzwemployeee
we did our training long ago friends... that date is wrong wrong wrong wrong. We have a resource called equipment guide. one month bfore a phone comes out it pops up there. As of monday it wasnt listed yet so i really doubt that nov 4th date is right
  • Chris
My Verizon business rep just confirmed Nov 15th as the release date here in Southern California
  • RI GUY
does anyone know if you will be able to Sync the Storm with a MAC?
  • hippiekid
do you guys even scan the forum prior to bloging? dnt know specifics on $ or release, im confident that FAQ like those will be answered when they come available! After all the journey to the storm is greater than the storm itself. and im gunna say sam is the real deal even though he hasnt blogged in a while and the suspense is killing.
  • Ed
Has anyone said anything about cost with a 2 and new ?
  • Angela
Election day release? We all need change lol...even with our Blackberry's! So do I camp out in front of a V store and get my phone first...or take a chance they will be sold out and vote first...so many choices...I'm confused...if they follow through with this I think it's brilliant marketing! I guess I'll CAMP OUT and vote with my new STORM in hand.
  • brad
Ok,so if any of you guys can help me out...I was wondering if the Storm can be used with my Nationwide Premium plan,or if I'll have to change anything on my plans;if so,what changes will they need to be,and how much will this cost me?Thanks a bunch in advance for any help!

P.S.-I can't make up my mind if Sam is really with Verizon or not, should I be ready to buy my phone on the 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 or any other day?Im seeing so many different dates and im a bit confused.Thoughts?
  • Cenuticket
i mean iphone is a good phone but att sucks. you can barely use the phone anyway. i was with verizon and stupid enough switch over the att to get the iphone and its a nightmare. iphone is "cool" phone for little teenage kids thats all. first day storm comes out imma get it. IDK how much it will cost cause i know its gonna actually WORK
  • hippiekid
hey guys, Sam, plz dnt scrutinize the inqiry but im new to the whole BB/smartphone format. what are these 'blocks' yall are talkin about, and can/should you get them lifted?
  • Jim
HAHAHAHAHA Well said Caprice, Well Said!!
  • Caprice
Outdated in a week, huh? LMAO! Justin's a Stormchaser too. If his iPhone's so hot, what the heck's he doin' here on BLACKBERRYcool!? It's okay, Justin, you big iPhoney. I'll see you in November! Just remember to have you local VZW put your name on the list, k pumpkin? Uh, that's if you haven't already. ;)
  • Jim
Justin is just jealous that his IPhone will be out dated in a week and a half. haha. P.S. I was told today that all the signs and banners get changed on the 3rd. Which is a good hint at when the release could be! And at the store by me, if your name is on the list they will hold one for you. Maybe it's just them being nice, but I can't wait. I am sorry about the dummy that was a bad rep though. Maybe she can't weather the STORM.. haha
  • Caprice
Oooooh, Justin! I just saw your comment. Which phone's better would depend on the user and their interests n' tastes, etc. It's up to the individual. Is Burger King better than McDonald's? I don't think so, but some might say yes. Is Dominoes better than Pizza Hut? Nathan's vs. Sabrett's! iPhone vs. (fill in the blank with any other touch-screen phone on the market)! The iPhone does nothing for me. That's my opinion. If the Storm's all it's cracked up to be, it'll kick an iPhone's a$$, IMO. Plus I've heard that the iPhone's battery life SUX! What good is havin' a phone with all the bells n' whistles if you gotta worry about a rapidly draining battery!? That's no fun. Hopefully the rumors about the Storm are true; that the battery life is excellent! Time will tell.
  • John
I live in Chicago, and I just called the store on S. LaSalle. I spoke to a guy there who put me on the call list (so it does exist). He said the reason for the list is so they can get an idea of how many people want to get the phone. They send the list to Corporate, and they figure out how many phones to ship to each location. It doesn't guarantee you a phone, but it increases your chance at getting one if you put your name on the list.

He said that I should be getting a call in the next week or two with more information.
  • Caprice
That should say, "she was just RUDE and nasty."
  • Caprice
Do Verizon employees work on commission?

I'm just curious cos I called my local VZW to have my name added to the Storm list. The rep that I spoke with didn't know there was a list for this phone. That wasn't the problem. She was just and nasty. Yeah, she coulda been havin' a bad day, but I had nothing to do with that. I was still cool with her. I just decided that commission or not (better if they DO work on commission), when I get the call that the phone's available, I'll go to the store, have her explain the phone to me for an hour or so and then go to another rep to actually purchase the phone.
  • Justin
honestly Jim, in no way is the blackberry going to be better than the Iphone. iphone has it all already. iphone is still hands down the best phone because of all of those third party apps.
  • Jim
So the stores have a "big change" coming the 3rd of November and the ONLINE training has to be done by then. From what I gather the release date SHOULD be the 3rd of November. I don't know about your store, but mine has a list and if you get on it they will call you and save a phone for you!! I can't wait!! This will be way better than the Iphone...
  • Dr.Leslie.Wiggins
The BlackBerry Handy Will be The Best in the world in the year 2009 From Mr.Dr.Leslie.Wiggins In Wesseling Deutschland
    Thank You
  • Josh
I just talked with our corporate verizon rep. She confirmed the Storm will be out the 2nd week of November. No price as of yet but she said it may be $199 in-contract.
  • Dave
I love Verizon and their service, however that is bunch of B.S. Verizon doesn't block those features because of security reasons. Even if that was the case, there should be an option for the user to opt to block or unblock those features. Verizon could even set those featues blocked as default, however if the customer wanted those featues unblock Verizon should unblock them. I love my Blackberry service I just wish I could use wifi with Verizon. To me that is like the government telling us "We know whats good for you so we are going to block it for your own good." Those choices should be left each individual user. After all we are paying for the service, and the pricing is the same as AT&T's. So why does AT&T not block it and Verizon does?
  • vzwcustomer
    Sam,

Just a quick question non-Storm related... when is the HTC touch diamond coming to Verizon stores? I hear this is another great touch phone they'll offer before year-end.
  • Sam
If you were not ignorant and actually read my comments I said the suggested release date is NOV 6th meaning the phone will not be released before that. I also said you don’t need to camp out there will be plenty available.

Now someone was asking that Verizon blocks everything so they call sale their own features.
The reason why most of phones features are either blocked or disabled is for the user’s security. Click on the links below and you will thanks us for putting blocks on your phone.

  • Michael
i have a friend that works at verizon. he said that they are going to release it on the 4th of november. i am located in southern california, maybe theyre gonna release it different time in diifferent places? i dont know. but thats what ive been told. gluck
  • Dave
Verizon is going to be selling it for more than an iphone because they can also because its not an iphone, its a Blackberry. There is a major difference there. I have used both and I would never give up a blackberry. Plus the Storm is a much awaited Blackberry product and Verizon knows that people will fork up that money to buy the Storm.
  • Dagwood
I can't see why they would sell it for more than $199. Even though it does more than the iPhone business-wise, they are marketing against the iPhone to try to get people to use this product for personal use as well.
  • Sam
im a vzw Device Engineer Tester
PS vodafone which is verizon's sister company will release the phone on NOV 9th. VZW, vodafone, and RIM will held a press conference before the end of OCT
  • /Jose
Voting is not an all day event, better yet, it can be used to call out of work so you can beat other to the VZ store. And like someone mentioned earlier, what app will verizon lock on the phone. they love to piss people off or find a way to charge you extra for a simple feature.
  • Sam's boss
I hate to spoil everyone's fun, but "Sam" doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. ;)

He is "close" with some of his comments, but if you are camping out for this phone you will be there on the wrong day if you are there on the 6th...

    And Sam....you're fired! :)
  • Kyle
Actually, I just spoke to a guy I know that works at the local Verizon store and he told me today that they just got their training program for the BB Storm. He also said that he "couldnt say anything" but he wouldnt be surprised if it was out at the end of this month.
  • Tarheels
Read the reply's that Sam is leaving. Those are very helpful,He says November 6th
  • Libby
November 4th, really? The Biggest Presidential Election Date? Please confirm! I'm holding out for the Storm! I'm so ready!
  • Tarheels
I read the comment about camping out for the phone.
Some people are more excited about this phone then maybe you are. When it is released, I bet the "fool wathcer" will be the first one at the store early that morning trying to get one.
  • Tarheels
    Sam,
Thank you very much for the information that you have provided.I have one more question for you?
What exactly do you do for verizon?,Sales, corporate office,Phone based customer service?
  • Sam
What you see on the website is our voice& data plan combined basically 39.99 voices+40 BES or as known to many people BBA. I’m not familiar with the vzw website so I’m not sure under what section does it show ALL the BBs plans are. When you buy your phone you will have two data options.
For signal line> voice plan+ Email and Web for 29.99 or
Voice plan + $40 BES or BBA which is blackberrys enterprise solution meaning for corporate customers
For family share plane> voice Plane+ Email and Web $29.99 or $44.99 BES or BBA allows to use the following
BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange
    BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
    BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Novell® GroupWise®
Integrates with an existing enterprise email account
Integrates with existing personal email account
Integrates with optional new device account

Sam, thanks for all the info that you're sharin' with us. Please, help me out here... I'm checkin' out the Verizon BB plans in the VZW site now. I don't see anything for $29.99 or even $44.99. I only see packages for $79.99, $99.99, $109.99, & $129.99. Where are these cheaper BB plans that you speak of and what's "BES" mean? Thanks in advance.
  • Sam
you must be on nationwide plan...if you have any of the old plans Americas choice etc, you will have to change your plan to nationwde which in most cases it will be same rate. all blackberry devices activated on vzw network must have the BB plan $29.99 (personal) $44.99(BES)

All VZW stores will have 100+ storms in stock...

PS you can not compare storm to iphone...as everyone who use blackberry knows, what blackberry offers is wayyy more than PDA/smart phone. if you are looking to get something like iphone storm wont be anything like the iphone
  • Phone Phreek
I don't know what Watcher and all the other negative pricks are talking about. I'm getting it the second it comes out! This thing is supposed to be what the IPhone 3G wants to be when it grows up... Since Verizon gives you a full 30 days to try it out, you can't go wrong with it.
If it sucks however, just return it and get an IPhone 3G.
Must have it, must have it, must have it hauhauahuahuaah!
  • ticklme
i cant wait to get mine so i can put it on vibrate and slide my storm right under my ball sack and wait for my first call.
  • MR.VZW TRUTH
All blackberrys onthe VZW network has to have a data package!!! IMMEDIATELY!!!!
  • tarheels
Sam,Do you have any idea how many the stores will be receiving?
  • John
Watcher, ask Santa to get you one for Christmas. Maybe if you stop calling us mean names, he will get you one!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
  • Watcher
I can't help but laugh at all the fools that are salivating at the mouth to get this thing. Camping out? Geez... "Please let us know the second it comes out!" ...holy cow people, get a life. I will gladly wait for months to get mine at a realistic price, and listen to the dorks whine about how much they paid to be the first on the block with this phone.
  • vzwcustomer
Sam, if I upgrade to this phone, will I need a special service plan or is the phone compatible with the nationwide calling plans? ie - do i have to get a blackberry data plan right away?
  • brian coyne
i gotta say, aside from the fact they are trying to keep it so secretive, i think releasing it on Election day is nothing less than completely retarded...(does anyone know what the pricerange will be on the Storm)
  • Sam
As far as the touch response, storm is very different. It’s really hard to explain but it’s like having a regular keypad but in touch screen format, it feels like the 8330 keypad when you use the keypad.
Retail price of the phone is from $550-$649 depends where you live and the store you go to... (If you wait month or two you’ll save $100 on the retail prices
the phone is scheduled to hit the market on the 6th but it’s up to the marketing department when they will release the phone...they can go with the suggested date (Nov 6th) or as I heard this morning storm might be a holiday item which will pushed the release date to 11-16. You don’t not need to camp out all the stores will have plenty in stock just avoid going to like BJs or circuit city and etc
Go to vzw.com/storm and you can sign up to get receive an email regarding to the release day. Emails are sent 12am on the release date
    There will be a Mail-in Rebate offer. Either $70 $100 or $150
  • Caprice
Sam, thanks for the info re: price and release date. Do you know if there will be a mail-in rebate offer? Dang, I've never been this excited over a frk'n phone, lol! A PHONE!! Then again, maybe I'm so excited cos it ain't just A phone; but THE phone. Hmmm...? Time will tell.
  • tarheels
Sam,Are you positive about the release date?Myself and some of my friends are planning on camping at the verizon store the night before.
  • mstt
Hey SAM....how much will it be to buy straight up without a new contract?
  • SRIPPLE0402
If the response time fo the blackberry storm is better than the htc apache im in, otherwise ill stick with a keypad blackberry world edition.
  • sam
also price of the phone will be from 249.99-299.99
  • sam
i work for verizon and strom will be release on the 6th not the 4th
  • John
Just go to the Blackberry website, they have some good pictures of it on there.
  • Yeah, we've now heard Nov. 9th from a BUNCH of people, but are still trying to get our hands on a photo or something solid to post with.

I guess it's better this way, you don't have to choose between voting and the Storm!
  • mynitim
    I hear November 9th as well: http://digg.com/gadgets/Blackberry_Storm_Releas...
  • davrox123
I just stopped in at the verizon store at BJ's Wharehouse and they stated that the release date will be November 9th. Still no price yet.
  • Caprice
NA, I'd LOVE for it to be $199, but they're selling the LG Dare for $249.99 ($199. w/ mail in rebate). Since the BB Storm is so new n' hot, unfortunately methinks it'll cost more than what they're sellin' the ol' Dare for. :( Then again, they might surprise me. Since I'll be a new customer, I hope I get a nice deal. I've been with T-Mobile for about eight years now. I play to jump ship as soon as this baby comes out!
  • NA
Re: Price, as far as I know, no one officially knows but it looks to be between 199.99 and 299.99. Based on where the Storm has been placed on price point sheets several people believe it will be 249.99 but I think Verizon could get away with 299.99 for launch and people will still pick it up in droves. Still hoping for 199.
  • tim
last night i was told within 2 weeks it will be released
  • asby thompson
how much will the backberry9530 cost?
  • Caprice
I'm with Matt. I can't see them releasing this phone on Nov. 4th/election day '08. I mean, IMHO this phone is BIG, but not nearly as big as THIS election!
Anyone have any idea how much Verizon will sell this phone to new customers for? It's available for pre-orders on MobileCityOnline for $600 ($700 for the unlocked phone). I highly doubt Verizon will charge that much for it. That's a bit much.
  • John
This phone is amazing. I have been waiting forever for a "iPhone-esque" smartphone from Verizon because I love their service. It's finally here! How can I make sure I get my hands on one the day it comes out??

Can i get this phone from nov 4th on vodaphone in the uk or should i get the bold
  • Susan
I have a friend who works for blackberry and i'm being told mid November not November 4th
  • Jack Hammer
If it means anything, all online training for Verizon employees (regarding the Storm) must be completed by 11/02/08. Since Verizon likes to release their phones the week immediately following the training, one would surmise that it will be on 11/03 to take advantage of the election activity and buzz.
  • Tiko
    happy bday to me
  • Caprice
I was gonna get a BlackBerry Curve this weekend for my birthday, but dammit, I'm gonna wait for this thingamabob!
  • NA
In terms of pricing, no one really knows yet. My best guess though is that if we're lucky it'll be 199 on 2 year contract. If we're unlucky it'll be 299. I think that's a pretty solid estimate considering the canadian bold pricing just dropped to 299.
  • Stonewall
ON ELECTION DAY???? In fact, probably one of the most historic & important day of the year. Do you think that Verizons|RIM's marketing teams didn't catch that? Not here to rain on the parade, heck, release it sooner!!!!!
  • Nic
how much am i looking to spend on November 4th with verizon?
  • tony
thanks for the info...i will i have vzw as a cell phone provider. im looking to upgrade and get a black berry witch one i dont know
  • LouTreize
Haha, that wasn't towards you Tony. There's an ongoing bidding war (supposedly) between Bell and Telus (canadian carriers) for the Storm.

But to answer your question (as best as i can), i doubt you'll get a concrete answer about which programs are getting locked by Verizon. If i would guess, then your answer ties in with what they did to their 8830. If you have a chance, check out some forums (crackberry.com or blackberryforums.com) to get some other views/opinions and the like. Till then, i don't think anyone will know exactly.

    Good luck.
  • tony
should i just buy the curve and save money;;; just so im not disapoited at the storm
  • tony
    what does that mean
  • LouTreize
The question remains, Bell or Telus?
  • tony
what programs will vzw lock: that will piss me off A phone i cant use;;; can someone please tell me before i buy this thing
  • Billy
Who cares about the election not that big of deal. Bring out the Phone!!!!!!!!!!
  • NA
Is there a precedent for this? Do phones/blackberrys/Verizon Wireless tend to release on Tuesdays?
  • Matt
I HIGHLY doubt they would release the phone on the day of the biggest election in recent history.
  • NA
    confirm....confirm...confirm...
