Cram v.1.1 Reviewed!

Comments

Cram reviewed

Whether you’ve been looking for an application to help you get through those midterms, finals, LSATs, MCATs, PhD comps, SmartServe exams, or you want something that will improve your product knowledge for work, SimpleLeap’s Cram will help you tackle them all. Launched in July of this year, Cram is a quiz builder that is designed to help you study quickly and absorb a great deal of information – with your BlackBerry.

Some of you may remember the Student Starter Pack, which allowed you to buy Cram and StudentDocket (a great scheduling application, one all students will find useful) as a package deal. Well, you can still get the two together for a reasonable $24.85 (over $5.00 off!) from our online store, so be sure to check out my review of StudentDocket as well!

StudentDocket v.1.0.809 Reviewed!

Comment

Student Docket

Some of you may remember Simon’s review of StudentBerry, a premier tasking application designed specifically for students with BlackBerry devices. To be fair, some of you may not.

Now called StudentDocket, this application aims to help students organize their tasks, projects and assignments, allowing users to view them in an eye-pleasing, well-organized fashion. For all you students out there, this is a must-have, and since it’s being sold in a bundle package with Cram for a limited time (you can still get the two together for a reasonable $24.85), there’s no better occasion to pick up these two academic tools in time for next semester.

Bell BlackBerry Storm promotion ramping up

Comments

In the midst of all the Telus BlackBerry Storm news that has been on BlackBerry Cool recently, you could be forgiven for momentarily forgetting that Bell is also launching the Storm this holiday season. Bell is starting to crank up the PR machine to make sure that doesn’t happen, with a mass email rollout yesterday and MobileSyrup reporting Bell Storm newspaper ads. Nothing in either ad included information about pricing or launch date, so we’re very eager to see how Bell responds to the rumored Telus Storm launch date and pricing. I have a feeling we’ll be hearing more from Bell very soon.

Verizon launches VCAST Music on BlackBerry Storm

Comment

A helpful tipster with the inside scoop just let us know that Verizon has launched the VCAST Music application today for the BlackBerry Storm. VCAST Music allows you to purchase songs individually or subscribe to get unlimited access for $14.99 per month. A quick catalog search of Verizon’s offering tells me that VCAST Music has millions of songs available. You can learn more about VCAST Music at the link below and view another image of the Storm application after the jump.

Win a Telus BlackBerry Storm and a chance to see Stars!

Comments

Just because BlackBerry Cool got to play with one before anyone else, doesn’t mean you can’t also get your hands on a Telus BlackBerry Storm. Telus has a microsite up where you you can sign up for a chance to win one of ten Telus BlackBerry Storms.

In addition, those cads over at MobileSyrup have discovered a CTV/Telus contest whereby you can win not only a Telus Storm, but $500 and an invite to the Telus launch party. Word on the street (read: BlackBerry Cool) is that Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning is guest DJ’ing and Stars are performing at a private event (did we mention that the Telus Storm is coming pre-loaded with a bunch of Arts and Crafts music?). Click the links below for all the details. Good luck!

Pink BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, Sandstone Pearl 8120 now live on Rogers site

Comment

Continuing with the quiet Rogers releases, the pink BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 we told you about a few weeks ago has finally appeared on Rogers’ website. Arriving itwh it is the ‘classic’ BlackBerry Pearl 8120 in a fancy pink sandstone color. Both Pearls can be yours for $49.99 on a 3-year contract, with a voice and data plan over $35.

To sweeten the pot, Rogers will also provide a $50 Canadian Tire gift card. You can learn more at the link below.

Rogers soft-launching the BlackBerry Curve 8900

Comments

BlackBerry Curve 8900

Well, this is a bit of a surprise. It seems as though Rogers is very quietly rolling out the BlackBerry Curve 8900 to subscribers, with no notification being given to the press or sales employees. This seems a little strange, considering that a properly hyped Curve 8900 release could steal some of the consumer thunder (sorry, bad pun) from the upcoming Telus and Bell BlackBerry Storm releases. Here’s what’s known so far:

Soon Canadians will be able to exchange a cool $179.99 and 3-years of their life (with voice and data) to have the latest UMA-enabled BlackBerry. We’ve been told that those who don’t want a 3-year commitment will be able to get the 8900 for $499.99 on 2-year with voice and data and $549 month-to-month. Other than that we know jack all because there has yet to be a press release nor has there been any internal communication to management or employees.

(BGR)

Here’s the deal, it looks like the brand new Curve is out-of-stock for new activations. However, we have confirmed that those who are due for a Hardware upgrade have purchased the device already for $179.00. Rogers couldn’t tell me when they’ll have more 8900’s in stock for us regular folks, but if you’re due for an upgrade give them a call and let us know how it went below. We were told 3-5 shipping days.

(BBNews)

Obviously, we’ll keep you informed as we (and Rogers employees, apparently) learn more.

Best Buy advertises Telus BlackBerry Storm for $299?

Comment

Hello, fellow Canucks. I come to you blogging from the Mid-Western United States, stuffed with turkey and ready to bring those above the 49th parallel the latest in BlackBerry news.

Following yesterday’s appearance of the Telus BlackBerry Storm on Future Shop’s site for $649.99, our friends at MobileSyrup got their hands on a Best Buy Canada banner ad promoting the Storm for $299.99 on a 3-year contract, with a supposed December 18th release date.

The Best Buy link is now dead, so hopefully someone is knocking an extra $100 off the price before putting it back up.

While your waiting for the BlackBerry Storm to drop in Canada, make sure to check out our hands-on impressions.

How to get a carrier-subsidized BlackBerry Bold before you are eligible for upgrade

Comments

The Smoke Labs mobile entertainment and lifestyle blog QuicklyBored has posted an anecdote about haggling with carriers to get a new device at the carrier-subsidized price while you’re still on contract. The author, W4lnut, had a Nokia N95 with 2.5 years left on his contract, and he managed to get the BlackBerry Bold for $199 on a renewed 3 year contract. It’s a good article for anyone looking for some extra buzz words and jargon to spit at customer service in order to get exactly what you want.
