OtterBox releases BlackBerry Bold Impact cases

otterbox BlackBerry Bold impact series

Full disclosure time: I’m a little behind on my review of OtterBox’s BlackBerry Bold Defender series case. I love my Bold, and let’s just say that I’m a little… hesitant to put it through the rigorous testing that an OtterBox case demands. Thankfully, OtterBox has a new Impact line of cases that are sleek and stylish as well as protective. Think of them as your OtterBox case for a night out on the town.

You can see the full Impact series product description after the jump, or you can head to www.otterbox.com for more information.

“This skin-style case combines durable silicone with impact absorbing features to dissipate impact away from your smartphone with added bump protection.

The OtterBox 1938 Impact™ Series for the BlackBerry Bold smartphone provides the ideal solution for those looking for less extreme protection. More slim-fit than the Defender Series™ case line, the new Impact Series skin offers trusted OtterBox protection in just one layer, safeguarding your delicate device from bump and shock.

The 1938 provides open access to the headphone jack, sync/charge jack (mini USB), speakers, microphone, sensors and camera. Side programmable buttons, mute and volume buttons are also accessible through silicone pass through buttons.

“Listening to customer requests for different case options, OtterBox now offers the Impact Series to accommodate the needs of less extreme BlackBerry users,” said Curt Richardson, CEO of Otter Products, LLC. “The Impact Series allows us to reach additional customers by providing another option of recognized OtterBox protection in a sleek design.”

I purchased this and found that it causes echo to the calling party (the calling or called party hears their voice echo). Tech support informed me that it is most likely sound traveling from my speaker, down the case, back to the microphone. They suggested that I make sure that none of the clear plastic is covering any of the speakers. I did this but still have echo problems.
