Telus BlackBerry Storm Unboxing

There’s nothing like unboxing a brand new BlackBerry, especially when it’s free. Especially when you’re using another another free BlackBerry Storm to record the video.

Here’s a few things I’ve learn since recording the video yesterday morning. Firstly, while the Storm demo units at the launch party were running OS 4.7.0.65, I can confirm that our boxed versions are running the much improved OS 4.7.0.76. In addition, it appears that my previous suspicions were correct — the Telus BlackBerry Storms do not contain the Application Center. Considering the launch is imminent, I don’t expect this to change before then.

P.S. Astute viewers may notice me picking up the missing BlackBerry Storm battery at the end of the video above. Consider this the perfect summary of the day I had yesterday.

So after playing around with the storm, how do you think a long time blackberry user would be able to deal with the touch screen? Is it quick and efficient? Does the OS bash all the negativity around this device?

Let me know! I just need to wait till we(Bell) has one in stock, and Im pouncing on it!

Why in God’s name is it that Canada always gets the shaft when it come to certain thuings? E.g Blackberry Storm has no application center
that is so lame and it hurts, and i dont know why there is no offical release date some off us have to make the time to go and pick it up… well i guess the upside is that we have the OS upgrades, but i just feel like we always play second fiddle to the US when ever it come to telecomunications

Yeah I agree. It’s 2 weeks before Christmas, “Before the Holidays”, how much closer do you want to release it? My blackberry rep said he’s going to have some storms in stock this coming Friday.. Though I’m not holding my breath..

i just received an e-mail from telus saying that the storm is in select stores now,i then called bell and they said that yes today is telus” lauch date and theirs will not be untill the 15th.

Well i just got a txt mssg from telus saying the phone is available now, but they only have 2500 for the whole of canada, and thats for the X-mas season and then they realese more in Jan how fair is that? You make us wait and then the phone is realsed halfway thrpough the day so there is no chance in hell to get to a store to get one b4 the work day is over

Yeah, I got lucky and called just as they were receiving them. My Storm also has an Application Center, although quite limited.

My god… if 4.7.0.76 is the IMPROVED version… I don’t know if I am going to keep it.

It’s REALLY sluggish when opening apps or switching to landscape.
