I like Datepedia quit a bit. It’s easy to use and it really helps you keep track of big events and holidays that, despite their recurrence, are really easy to forget when you’re busy. The mass-export option is fantastic, and I do like to have the ability to create my own events to export if they don’t come preloaded (though it would be pretty flattering to see my anniversary in there). The only thing I noticed was the country support. Although there are a number of countries supported – U.S., Canada, U.K., India, Germany, Australia, France, Spain, Italy, and Mexico, Datepedia seems to lack holiday and events support for all of Africa and the Middle East, Russia, and most of South America, to name a notable few. This is the only feature I found truly lacking from Datepedia.
- Easy to use
- Support for countries with a substantial RIM presence
- Mass export for holidays
- The ability to create and export your own events and holidays
- Lack of support for popular holidays and events in a large number of countries
The bottom line: I like this app because I am prone to forgetting very important dates (especially those I need off from work). Mass export of events and holidays to your calendar is fantastic, and so is the ability to add your own holidays – should you feel inclined to invent them (Tuesday Sabbath anyone?), or events. But, while a large number of countries are supported, there’s still room to add many, many more.
