I have the 8830 with verizon and it says I need OS of 4.3 or higher is there a way I can upgrade OS on my own or do I have to get a new phone? I want to try slacker

I just DL OTA on VZW Curve 4.5 and is Awesome Does anyone know if this can BT to a MOTOROKR 1505? I ordered one off Amazon and am expecting delivery tomorrow. Also what does the message ‘6 skips remaining’ mean when the channels are changed? Did I mention Slacker Rocks!

I must be one of the lucky ones because it has yet to crashmy system nor have I had any trouble with syncing or any of the other issues above I am running os 4.3 with sprint only because they haven’t released 4.5 yet on a 8130 and everything works just fine even Bluetooth. I am believing that maybe I should find some wood to knock on though

I know it’s a little early to start complaining…I’m just happy they finally released Slacker for the BB. I’ve been wearing this app out for 2 days now and it’s crashed my Curve(v4.3) at least 7 times. BB reboots comes back up fine..I relaunch Slacker & jam out for a few more hours and it will unexpectedly reboot again. I’m sure Slacker v2.0 will address this issue sometime in the future…or not. It really doesn’t bother me too much…again, I’m just happy to finally have the app!

I installed this app 2 days ago and it is the best music program ever! The caching feature allows you to never be without you favorite music genre no matter here you are or what you are doing. Listening to the music while doing all the normal things you do with your Berry is awesome! Easy to use and fantastic sound quality while streaming makes this a must have app for any music lover

Big mistake indeed. Especially since the caching feature allows for a completely stream-free implementation. Technically, you don’t even need connectivity. Also, some people have unlimited carrier data plans but their servers are capped.

Unfortunately this app doesn’t work if MDS isn’t configured. It appears to use the internal connection instead of the carrier network. Big mistake in my opinion.

Doesn’t work with my Blackberry 8350i Software version 4.6.1.83
The best their tech support could come up with was “try reinstalling”, which did not help.

The caching works pretty good however the sync client kept crashing when getting station definitions until I renamed the \slacker\stations\definitions directory.

CORRECTION: It worked with BT headset once I cycled power on the headset.

This app is killer however there are a few things I would suggest that could improve things:

- If I get an Email chime it seems that I have to shut down and restart slacker to get it playing again. I’m not sure if there’s an easier way. I have to fiddle as I think I may not have had to do this on one occasion.

- It crashed my 8330 once when I first installed it and played with it but not since. I changed permissions to allow all but not sure if that helps.

- A caching OTA option would be nice. Maybe you can limit it by number if bytes total per month to use this way, how much bandwidth, only when on external power, etc. (BTW, putting the station sync app on the USB launch list was clever)

- It does not seem to support a blue tooth remote control device. My BT8010 lets me skip songs and restart playback if I get an Email chime. Even though I can get audio I cannot control the app with the headset the way I can with BB media player.

Can’t think of anything else yet. This app rocks!

Just wanted to say thank you blackberry cool for posting this. If you hadn’t I probably would have never even hearf about it. Let me say this is one great app. Some much better than XM and its free!!
