New York Times Crosswords for BlackBerry now available to all

When our sister site QuicklyBored reviewed Bplay’s New York Times Crosswords for BlackBerry, they were quite big on the game, but bummed that the title was exclusive to AT&T.

We’re pleased to tell you that, as of today, New York Times Crosswords is now available for all BlackBerry gamers. The game is subscription based, costing you a measly $2.99 per month to have access to daily puzzles from The New York Times. I wonder if David Pogue has it on his BlackBerry?

This sounds like a pretty good product, but what if you already have access to NYT crossword puzzles?

I have a subscription to the New York Times, which includes access to downloading the puzzle files, which I have done on my Touch Pro and Nokia E71. What am I actually paying $2.99/month for?

Yeah, what we really need is AcrossLite Mobile for the BlackBerry. Unfortunately, I wrote the folks who developed it and they said they have no plans to develop any of their products for BB.

I’ll buy this when it’s compatible with my Storm, but it’ll only ever be a temporary fix for me, until someone inevitably comes out with a .PUZ client that works.
