@AlexQuilici, hi I just signed up for youmail last week. I have Sprint and a BB Tour. I love the app, but noticed two glitches. youmail fails to consistently capture missed calls. So I will have a missed call on my BB and then when I log into youmail there will be no record of it. Secondly, I noticed that I don't always get the alerts/notifications that I selected. For example, I asked youmail to send me a text every time a call is Ditched and when the number calls me sometimes I receive a notification and sometimes I do not. Are these known issues? Is there a fix coming if so? I really like using this app and don't want to have to go back to my Sprint voicemail.
Thanks!!!!

I just found out the issue. Another program was actually causing the problem. Like I said my Tour worked fine so I reloaded the Storm to to out of the box software and first loaded YouMail and it worked. started installing all applications one by one and it ended up being PatternLock that caused the problem as weird as it seems since it has nothing to do with sounds. It was also the only program I have on my Storm that I didn't have on the tour. I am now back to being a Happy YouMail user. I was having withdrawals without my YouMail. I can live with out other applications.

Unfortunately, that's a known issue.

The way YouMail works is that we change the "audio path", which is what's used by everything (e.g., ringers, the media players, etc..). We don't yet have a way to separate these out, but doing so is on our "figure this out" list.

Thanks, I have found an issue. I am not sure if its just with the Storm 2 or maybe 5.0 software. The problem is the audio settings affect the ringer tones. If you have the audio set to play handset or headset then handset the ringer tones will do the same. To recreate the issue. Set audio in YouMail to handset always or headset then handset. Play a youmail message. After you play a youmail message all of the ringer tones do the same thing as YouMail messages (in this case play over the handset speaker). I can do the reverse and set Youmail audio to Speaker Always or Headset then Speaker, Play a YouMail message and the ringer tones will then play over the Speaker.

YouMail's newest version is now set up for the 9550 in AppWorld. Thanks for highlighting that oversight to us.

Just an update on the issue. I transfered the .96.2 YouMail app fro my Tour to Storm 2 and so far everything seems to working without any issues. Appworld just needs to be updated to make the latest version available for the Storm 2 instead of version .95.6. I will let you know if I see anything wrong with .96.2 and the Storm 2 but all is good now.

I had the Tour and just upgraded to the Storm 2. There are a couple of issues with Youmail and the Storm2 I wanted to bring to your attention in hopes that i will get fixed soon as I am addicted to youmail. One app world only has version .95.6 and after installing it it updates to .95.9. How can we get the latest version? Also the bigger issue (and this might be fixed in the latest version) is when I set the sounds to be either handset or headset then handset, all of my phone and email notifications only play over the handset instead of the speaker. Once I uninstall Youmail my sounds are back to normal. This problem makes Youmail a no go since it makes it where I can not hear when I get a call or emails. Can you get this fixed? I paid for an annual subscription I know its not much but would really like to keep using Youmail. thanks

Jason - see the message above. You need to enter the following to have YouMail substitute our voicemail for Verizon's:

Dial *71 7142043114 and hit send.

Do not just dial 7142043114 - that just retrieves messages by phone.

That means the call forwarding step failed. You should have gotten a welcome e-mail from us that includes a link to click if you skipped the call forwarding step or it if it failed because the carrier network was congested.

On Verizon, you should be able to simply enter the following and hit send to get YouMail to work:

*717142043114

Let us know.

I am having trouble getting youmail to work... I downloaded it to my bb storm but all messeges are still going to my regular VM. Youmail says "no new messages" with nothing appearing in the box. I can set my personnal greetings and all that good stuff but when people call its putting them to my regular VM and they are not going thru youmail...I'm w/verizon.

AVN -

We're sorry. If they correctly reset your APN, and that doesn't fix the issue, we're at a loss. The other folks who have reported this issue worked after resetting the APN (though a few needed it done more than once because the carrier reset it incorrectly). The only other alternative for you would be to try VyMail (joekrill.com) a third-party client for YouMail and see if that works for you - if it does, that would indicate there's something going on with our application and your particular phone/configuration.

ACN - you're probably on T-mobile, and need to call them and have your APN reset.

LB - you're probably on an old version of YouMail. Delete it, go to AppWorld, install, then to MyWorld and hit "upgrade" to get the latest. Sometimes AppWorld doesn't automatically seem to give people the latest.

Please set "autoplay to never" on your settings and the problem will go away. The problem has to do, roughly, with an application conflict - it's fixed and we're waiting for AppWorld to approve (along with some nice new additions).

Our apologies. We're working on being able to test a much wider set of possible BB configurations to make sure these problems don't occur going forward.

For even more info about Bluetooth issues etc... with RIM devices, here's a pretty detailed discussion of what apps are up against.

With that O/S, it should work, so it's likely an issue with the Bluetooth device. Our app simply tells the system to route audio to a device if it's connected.

Speculation: we've built our App on the "public" RIM API which doesn't have all the calls available that RIM can use (some private calls). We suspect the BT device works with the private API (which is why you can make calls, etc..), and there's some issues with how the device connects using the "public" API.

Alex,

Thanks for the quick reply. I just recently upgraded to the latest BB software, 4.5.0 Core Applications and System Software. Please let me know if you are looking for a different data point.

Hi Russell.

We're seeing some O/S dependent issues around Bluetooth, especially on the Curve, and upgrading the O/S has made them vanish. What version of BB O/S are you on?

Alex, I've got the latest Youmail app (0.96.1.0) on my Verizon Curve, and I've got a question about the audio settings within the app. I don't seem to be getting any integration between the BB app and my Motorola H710 bluetooth headset.

After I select "Headset then Handset" for Audio Path in Audio Settings and then start playing a downloaded voicemail, I hear the bluetooth click on/activate in the earpiece, but no further sound comes out of either the headset or the phone handset. Do you know if this feature is meant to be interoperable with my bluetooth headset?

Btw, really enjoying the service and features that Youmail offers, thank you so much!

Hi Brian. Yes, there's a bug. It'll get fixed in the next release (which we plan to get to AppWorld for review sometime in the next week or two).

I just signed up for the one year deal and love this service. I am having one problem though and wuld like to find out if it is just mine. I am using the YouMail app on my blackberry Tour and when I highlight a message and delete it will delete the first message in the list instead of deleting the highlighted one. The work around is to open the actual message and then delete which works but it would be nice to not have that extra step.

Thanks,
Brian

Greenasp - please send your contact info to marketing AT youmail.com so the team can help you. It's really hard to locate/fix unusual issues by trading comments - and with what we've heard so far (VZ, 9630 Tour), there's isn't a known explanation why conditional call forwarding isn't working. We have lots of VZ users already on the Tour w/YouMail.

Thanks.
