@marisol, I still don't have a storm, but I think I read somewhere that if you hold down on the number key, it will stay and not toggle back. I could be wrong, but try it.

Love hate kinda thing, just like everyone else. Mines seems to freeze way to often the keyboard malfubcrions way too often and I so not understand why you can't keep the keyboard locked on numbers instead of switching around. The copy, paste, highlight and select options suck real bad. Bb really needs to come up with some nifty apps. Screen blanks out kinda like white noise and occasionally splits.

I went to Verizon to look at the Storm today and pretty much decided to get it next month. After reading these comments, I'm really torn. I really wanted that size screen because I'm a video editor and wanted to show off my work anytime/anywhere I want, but if the phone is sluggish or if the touchscreen is going to be a problem, maybe I should get the Curve instead. I know it's only a month after all the comments, but are these still true? I assume that it will be a while before this is all fixed. I will only email on the phone when I'm away from my computer, which isn't much, and I don't use SMS that much, but I still don't want to have problems or failing hardware. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Gary

I have a love hate relationship with my storm.. Some days I have to pull the battery out to re boot it because I'm impatient with its response time.. The camera is okay.. I've taken some nice pics driving 75 on the highway.. I haven't figured out how or if I can play videos.. I can't use youtube..if I know I have a lengthy text I use mms instead of sms because it don't max out.. If anyone could tell me how to use youtube I'd appreciate it and where can I upgrade my os..

As an employee at a major telecommunications company, I agree with all of the features you would want in the Storm. Unfortunately, until RIM does a remake of the sureclick system, this phone is a dud. It has amazing potential and is by far the best new technology out there. However, we are already seeing major data swaps because of the failing screens. This unit needs a major component re-do. At minimum, 1 out of 7 come back because the screen doesn't "click" anymore. It is now evident, this early in, that retailers will experience major issues with the handset. My personal stand point on this phone is that it is an outstanding unit that has room for improvement, but was released to early to keep up with the Iphone. RIM should go back to the drawing boards with this one, as they are better than that and have a massive loyal following. That's just one guys opinion, personal or professional.

NO Wifi? No Problem... When verizon adpots UMA like T-Mobile's HotSpot@home service (where you can use WIFI as an extention of FULL wireless capabilites, including Voice, SMS/MMS, Data, and even BB Data), then I'll want wifi. After all.. its a MOBILE DEVICE, how can I be mobile if tied to a wifi hotspot???

No multi-touch?? I can touch/hold and touch to select multiple messages in my message list... etc...

The Storm's release software was no where close to where it needed to be.

With the leaked .103, the Storm is much improved. its where it should have been when released.

But I still say, those who felt this was anything more than a Blackberry that they replaced the tactile keyboard and track ball with a touch screen is going to be completely dissapointed.

When I saw the invite for a Storm Review I couldn`t help but be drawn in. I've had this phone for a month now and have alot of constructive feedback on it. However, after reeding other owners reviews, I feel there isn't much more I could add in terms of a 'review'.
To put it simply, Suretype is one of the strongest features on this phone for me; I would get incredibly frustrated while typing on other touch screen devices. The weakest feature, which encompases a number of things, is the OS the device shipped with. That being said, theres alot of room for improvement and it's still very early in the life of this phone.

A few ideas I came across while using the device:
- Needs to be faster (this is obvious, but specifically in terms of menu scrolling and swiping, response to incomning calls, overall touch screen response...)
-Tilt Sensor override, or whatever you call it, all I'm looking for is a way to force my BB to stay in portrait mode unless i'm in my messages (BBM, SMS, Email, ...)
-Customization, and while were on that subject, why not a nicer looking looked screen while in landscape mode? Or have the default wallpaper swoosh over to a landscape mode, anything would be better then the current place holder....
-Mac support (without having to use Missing sync for Mac, which is excellent btw, it's just unfortunate that you have to pay extra)
-UI updates and shortcuts (how about an option to 'mark all messages read'... stuff like that)
-Simple intergration of Google maps into the Maps application
-And for the love of your god, could someone tell RIM that once I exceed the maximum number of characters in an SMS to automatically switch to a new message (2/2 sort of deal) I don't understand why this feature wasn't on my 8830 and still not on the storm. Not everyone I message has a BB (and therefore, no BBM) and if I have a lenghty-SMS(oxymoron?) to compose, I find myself saving my first message, creating a new one, typing, oh! no more room, save again, make a new one, repeat until message is done, and then send each one individually... Come on! get with the times!

All this to say that in the end, I'm not too worried about any of this; a new OS is likely to be released soon which, so I've heard, fixes a number of the speed issues. Also, with the eventual launch of the app store, I look forward to third party application allowing more control of both the system's UI and it's functions.

Thats all for now,
Cheers!
