DubMeNow is a free application for BlackBerry. The app allows you to use any mobile phone to exchange contact information instantly. The app will also allow you to make changes to your contact info, without waiting until you get back to your desk to connect or manually enter business cards.

To try the service, go here and:

1. Sign up for DUB and download DUB to your phone.
2. Send a DUB invite by text or email from your phone.
3. Your contact accepts the invite and your info loads directly into his or her mobile address book and syncs with Outlook.
4. You’re connected! Tag or add notes to your contact’s profile to remember context of your connection.
5. Change your profile – new job, new address, email, phone, etc. – and all your DUB contacts get your updates instantly. Any changes your DUB contacts make are automatically updated in your smart phone address book.

Soon, the service will allow you to connect via LinkedIn and Facebook.

If you’re looking for contact management software, this may be right for you. Try it out and let the community know what you think.

Podtrapper podcast software for BlackBerry [Free Trial]

podtrapper

Everyone knows what a Podcast is right? It’s basically your own private radio show and it has a social component very much in the same way blogs do. Podcatcher is a download manager and player of Podcasts. A good Podcatcher should be totally transparent, and once you’ve subscribed to your Podcasts it should be automatically downloading new episodes in the background. This is what PodTrapper aims to provide for Blackberry.

Podtrapper will allow you to consolidate your podcast listening down to a single device. RIM is working hard to provide a good media experience on Blackberrys (I hope), but a solution for Podcasts was forcing me to carry around both my phone and my media player. Now, with PodTrapper, I get to leave the media player at home.

Features:

* Automatic downloading of new episodes via Wifi (and soon via desktop app)
* Automatic downloading of new episodes via Cell network (On most carriers)
* Downloads via desktop application for those without Wifi or with difficult carriers
* Keeps track of last played podcast
* Remembers where you left off in every episode
* Reliable pause and resume of downloads when connectivity changes
* Built in keylock to allow for control of audio in your pocket

Download this app OTA here.

Download the prerelease OTA here.

Again, please comment if you’ve tried this out. The community will appreciate your comments!

(Rumor) BlackBerry Bold/Niagara and Storm not coming to Sprint

A BlackBerryCool reader wrote us recently to say that he’s spoken to Sprint and they don’t plan on releasing the Bold or the Storm. According to a Sprint rep, “Sprint does not plan to release [the BlackBerry Bold] onto the Sprint Network.”

Jon: “Hi. I’d really like to buy a Blackberry Bold but Sprint still doesn’t sell it. Can I buy it elsewhere and still set it up for Sprint service?”
Agent (Kate D): “I will be more than happy to answer your questions today.”
Agent (Kate D): “I do apologize, however, you will need a Sprint phone to receive Sprint service.”
Jon: “What’s the status of getting the Bold? I hear 1st quarter ’09, now 3Q09.”
Agent (Kate D): “I do apologize, however, Sprint does not plan to release that phone onto the Sprint network.”
Jon: “How about the Storm?”
Agent (Kate D): “Neither of the phones are Sprint phones.”
Jon: “I know they’re not Sprint phones right now. I’m wondering when/if they will be.”
Agent (Kate D): “Jon, Sprint does not plan to release either of the phones onto the Sprint network. Neither of the phones are Sprint phones.”
Jon: “That’s too bad.”

With all the news we’ve been hearing about the BlackBerry Niagara, I doubt Sprint will pass on the Bold. This is just a customer service representative who doesn’t know what’s going on with the product line.

Remember, if you have any tips, send them in to news [at] blackberrycool [dawt] com.

(Thanks Jon)

Advanced Call Manager for BlackBerry reviewed

Been getting annoying calls from your local witchcraft guild? Now you can add them to your black list and POOF they’re gone!

Without a doubt your very first step should be to visit WebGate’s website and download the User’s Manual if you want to take full control of the functionality of this app. If not, you’ll need a witch doctor to help you understand how you will best benefit. When I am busy and don’t want to be interrupted I found using ACM to send callers a text message that tells them I am busy but offering either an alternate phone number for emergencies or telling them to text me if it’s an emergency, a great way to professionally respond. If you work for a company where you are on call after hours what do you want your phone to do when you are sleeping? My answer to that dilemma is to add that special phone number to my white list so it will ring while blocking everyone else but still sending them a text message that I will call them tomorrow.
