Tweak and optimize your BlackBerry settings

Comments

berrytweak

This is a full review of BerryTweak, an app that lets you customize the settings on your device. When the app was first installed I opened it to make sure the install went as it was supposed to. Once I saw that I then closed the app, about 2 minutes later I received an email. As soon as the email was delivered to my inbox, the backlight of my screen lit up! Now this would normally not be a big deal. However I did not set the app up to do so yet, in fact I had not set the app up to do anything yet. This can only mean one thing the app came with some default settings. These default settings were nothing special, every option was turned on. Whether you want everything on is up to you, But it does not hurt to install the app open it once and never adjust anything. It can run straight out of the box just fine.

Here is a list of the features of the app:

  • Automatically lock screen/keyboard during calls.
  • Automatically dim backlight during calls.
  • Vibrate on call/answer.
  • Turn backlight and launch the message application on new mesaage.
  • Schedule power on/off individually for each day of the week.
  • Automatically turn connections off when the battery is low.
  • Schedule connections on/off individually for each day of the week.
  • Hourly chime between certain times.
  • Handy flashlight feature.
  • Set LED green when charging.
  • Set LED red when battery level is low.

12 ways to be a better BlackBerry photographer

    Comments

    Photography

Taking a good photo is really important. It’s annoying to send around family and friend pictures that are blurry and pixelated once you open them on a desktop. The latest BlackBerrys have cameras strong enough to take a decent picture, you just need to know how. Here are 12 simple tips to taking a good pic with your BlackBerry.

    1. Get Closer
While you can capture panoramas with your camera, you’ll take the best possible photos by getting close to your subject matter. Go ahead and take a few extra steps toward what you’re shooting—the images you capture will be much more engaging.

    2. Hold Steady
Camera shake is the primary reason for blurry photos, whether you’re using a cameraphone or a digital SLR. To capture a crisp, clear image, hold your device with two hands or use one hand to brace your arm. If possible, hold your smartphone on top of a desk or other object to reduce camera shake.

    3. Be Patient
There’s often a short delay between the moment you depress the shutter button and when a photo is taken. Be sure not to move your device during this time; doing so will result in a blurry image.

    VPost by Vayyoo reviewed

    vayyoo vpost tutorial

I was given the opportunity to try out vPost by Vayyoo Inc. My first thoughts of this app were, Why didn’t RIM include this with their current OS’s? Vayyoo did a good job of filling the need. vPost sends messages as Emails and not multimedia messages (mms), so if you are used to sending pictures, video’s or voice notes via mms you’ll have to get your recipients email or carrier mms email address. vPost is available for 4.5 and 4.6 OS Blackberries, with Storm support coming in March. Installation from the Blackberry Cool store was straight forward and went without a hitch. After the vPost install was completed I was asked to allow permissions for Phone and GPS so naturally, I did. I was greeted with a screen that displayed the End User License Agreement. After agreeing I was asked if I wanted to register my device with Vayyoo. This is where you have the option to enter your activation code or take advantage of the free trial. Vayyoo helped us users out by including an Introduction screen that gives a brief description and quick tips prior to using the program.
