If you’re anything like me, you spend at least an hour a day on a conference call to prepare your team for the next seven hours of conference calls you will be attending before you can call it a day. Fairly often I find myself getting a meeting request for some emergency in the middle of lunch or on the road away from my computer screen. This leads to switching back and forth between the phone app and my calendar/email trying to remember the pin code. Even if I’m sitting at my desk though, I find glancing between a screen and my keypad while “dialing in” to get old.
And then I found EZConCall from developer HandiTrack.
EZConCall integrates itself into the main menu in your calendar and email. All you have to do is set your curser over the number to dial, and hit the menu button.
After selecting EZConCall from the menu, you get the pop-up box that lets you either place the call by selecting your default profile, choose a different profile you’ve set up, or choose the code from anywhere else in the “Location” field.

This app has the same basic flaw that all the others of the same type do: the inability to toggle. I have to either flash myself in the face, or reach my thumb awkwardly around the front of my device to turn it off. While the app does exactly what it says it will do (and for free), it does have some other drawbacks. I took a light meter (the same kind used in photography) and measured the apps output. I then wrapped cardboard around my screen and measured again, yielding the same output as the first go round. So what does this mean? I am wasting precious battery life by having my backlight on. That being said, this app has become one of those “what’d I do without it” apps.

eVeek has released a set of free BlackBerry themes for the BlackBerry Bold, Storm, and Curve 8900. It is called Sterling and has a nifty vertical carousel animation.
All of the icons are hidden to reveal the one in focus which is very useful in clearing the homescreen of any clutter. It’s a very wallpaper-friendly theme definitely worth your attention…totally free!

Bla1ze has a good tip on a new BB app called eReader. eReader is an app that has finally been ported to BlackBerry and is now in Beta form. Like ShortCover, eReader is an app that lets you read books from your mobile. The biggest drawback is that it does not let you purchase the books from the app itself.
Try out the BETA and grab the app OTA here.

How do carrier relations work? Why does Telefònica from Spain decide to be the exclusive distributor of the Palm Pre in Spain, the UK and Latin America? They should be the exclusive dealers of RIM Bolds or 8900s. They would be much better devices to support. In any case, Telefònica will be distributing the Palm Pre when it should be giving out a Bold or an 8900.
Agreed?
