Here is the response from them…(Pretty fast response!!)

Thank you for your message.

*The application [ I Love Blackberry - Beta] will never send your actual sensitive usage data to us.

* The initial message was intended to be a registration message but we will clarify that and make it optional when the application comes out of beta status.

* We will also never share your contact information.

From here on out, the application checks for version upgrade automatically – at that point it provides the version upgrade program device software version and PIN number to enable the upgrade program to make a decision about the updated version to be offered to the user as an information message. Again this check for new version does not send your sensitive usage data.

Hope that clarifies, and we thank you again for sharing your concerns that help us improve our software and design.

Peter Mac, Good observation! I did not really pay attention to that yesterday when I downloaded it…I have sent them a message asking what information is being sent and how often the messages are sent. I will post back their response when I have it…

Be warned that the first thing this app did was send and email from me to me and iloveblackberry@earlysail.com with information about my device. I’m not a big fan of applications that phone home with my email address without any prompting…Seems fishy.

So, I downloaded and installed this app mostly out of curiosity to see how much I actually use my blackberry and I’m already a little embarrassed! Maybe I don’t want to know this information.
