Bible for blackberry

I recently spoke with Bobby Gruenewald, an avid BlackBerry user, entrepreneur and pastor at LifeChurch.TV. He contacted me about a free Bible App for BlackBerry that is surprisingly rich given that it’s free.

The app launched last December and is soon to be in RIM’s App World. Until then, you can get the app from them OTA.

Amazon blackberry app world

Although the announcement is out that Amazon has arrived in App World, it isn’t actually there. I suspect that Amazon released the news a little prematurely without getting confirmation that there app is ready for download.

Amazon’s BlackBerry includes the incredible “Amazon Remembers” feature. This feature allows you to snap a photo of a product, the photo then gets uploaded to Amazon and then a few seconds later it spews out a listing for that product. Other features include:

* Purchase using Amazon’s 1-Click ordering and Amazon Prime
* Track packages or modify orders using the Your Account feature
* Receive personalized recommendations
* View editorial and customer reviews
* Get the Gold Box Deal of the Day
* Access to their Wish List

Navigate your BlackBerry browser to amazon.com/bb

Or

Head over to the Amazon homepage to download the BlackBerry app.

Track your business expenses easily with your BlackBerry

trackit-expense-edition-blackberry

TrackIT: Expense Edition from JavaTek Media is a comprehensive financial management application that allows the user to track expenses and income, as well as sort the information by categories and by merchants. It also provides the user with exchange rates for many countries; unfortunately, it appears they were last updated on April 2006 so it is not very useful. Thanks for trying though. After some initial difficulties (Mobihand was having “issues”) I was able to install it on my BlackBerry Curve 8900.

One of the features I really like is the Reports and Graphs feature. You can view a graph of either your expenses or income by day, month, or year. Another feature I like is the vast number of categories you can file your expenses and incomes. There is even an option to add additional subcategories. I use Microsoft Money to manage my family’s finances; the setup is similar so there was a very small learning curve with this app.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 5.0 details

Comments

bes50

The details about the upcoming BES 5.0 have been released on BB Forums Australia. RIM has updated their website to include all the product documentation (including video tutorial) for BES 5. BlackBerry Partners will now be able to download the software (Exchange and Domino) from the BlackBerry Universe which indicates a release date isn’t too far away.

Included PDF Documentation:

* Release Notes
* BESX Install Guide
* Upgrade Planning Guide
* BESX Upgrade Guide
* Feature and Technical Overview

Other Inclusions on the Forum:

* BES 5.0 Video Tutorial
* BES 5.0 for Exchange
* BES 5.0 for Domino

Note that if you purchase 4.1 now the 5.0 update isn’t free. You will continue to get service pack updates for 4.1 until it is “end of life” (approximately 24 months). So if you’re about to buy a BES, you should really consider waiting for the release. BES Express can be upgraded but you will still be limited to your 15 users. Expect more details soon.

A new sync solution for your BlackBerry and media files

Comments

DoubleTwist is a powerful application that that allows you to play, sync and send videos and music between your BlackBerry and desktop.

The public BETA of Windows doubleTwist is now available. The Mac version went out a little more than a month ago and generated headlines like “doubleTwist may be the coolest universal media manager ever.”

We feel that just like you don’t have to use a different browser for every web site you visit (Firefox to read the NY Times, IE to stream Hulu, Chrome to browse YouTube, etc) you shouldn’t have to use iTunes for Apple products, Nokia software for Nokia phones, Sony software for Sony products, etc. The typical household today has many such devices and we are building a simple and powerful software that connects them.

Try doubleTwist to sync your BlackBerry and media files.

RIM removes first application from App World

Comments

When Apple’s App Store launched it started pulling certain apps from the store that violated their terms of service. This was a real pain for some developers who felt that Apple wasn’t being clear enough about the rules. Well it seems RIM is in a similar situation and has removed their first application.

Wattpad’s eReader was one of the first applications to go live on RIM’s BlackBerry App World—and now it’s one of the first to be taken down over concerns about copyright infringement. Wattpad is a user-generated content site which lets people upload their own stories to share, and suffers the same problem most user-generated sites have of people uploading content they that’s copyrighted. It’s unclear whether the application was removed due to a specific complaint or a general uneasiness over its content—RIM’s vendor guidelines don’t mention user-generated content, but they do dwell on the importance of complying with intellectual property law.
