Today is May 19th and the BlackBerry community is still eagerly awaiting their Skype applicaiton. The lite version of the Skype client will be available as a free Beta download for the Bold and Curve models.
The lite version of Skype delivers core Skype capabilities to BlackBerry, including:
* Make Skype-to-Skype calls to other Skype users anywhere in the world
* Send/receive instant messages to/from individuals or groups
* Make Skype calls at low rates to people on landline or mobile phones
* Receive calls to your online number on Skype
* See when your Skype contacts are online/available to chat
Anyone else wondering when it will actually appear?
Probably this week we’ll start with the beta test phase of Skype 4 BB.
I am very much looking forward to this, except for the fact that us Canadians will likely get screwed with a crippled version (or none at all, like the iPhone).
I for one have been eagerly anticipating this. Let’s hope it comes sooner rather than later

In case you havent noticed, RIM’s world consists of only three countries.
For the rest of the world, appworld is not available!
Judging by RIM’s customer care, it will rather change name to “appland” before they provide it to more countries.

I expect that will be widely available everywhere in the world.. except in the technology third world country of Canada.
Will it take advantage of data channels and bypass voice? If so I don’t think the quality will be very good. WiFi is a different story..

Are there any news on this. I can not found a Skype version for the BB in the internet. I-skoot unfortunately is not working on my BB Bold.

Wow, its mid July already.. where’s the skype client for the BB? iSkoot doens’t work for me anymore – anyone know of a subsitute?
