I have always been big into media on my BlackBerry. There are two different applications that I came across that really jumped out at me in my search for the ultimate media application: Ringtone Creator and Ringtone Shuffler.
I tested MP3 Ringtone Creator by Javatek and honestly, I’m not as impressed as I thought I would be. The app did a great job and made it very simple to make your selection and the ringtones were easy to find and set. The only two issues I had were the lack of ability to fade in and out, which makes the ringtone sound professional instead of abruptly ending, and a lag when selecting music.
The second piece of software that I came across was Ringtone Shuffler. I downloaded the app and I’m impressed. I could take all the ringtones I made and shuffle them, just as the app suggests. That way, a different song plays every time my phone rings.
Ringtone Shuffler will support ringtones up to 1MB. Most ringtones are 30 seconds and shouldn’t exceed this limit in size at all. The app also features compatibility with just about all the devices out except for the Storm. I have set well over 100 ringtones to shuffle and it works like a charm. The user interface is really easy to use, and the instructions are very clear and simple.
Gx5 has another product called BlackBerry RingTone Maker, for those of you who would like to make your own ringtones on a PC. Perhaps I should test it out.
Let me know if you’ve tried it!
