The Google Voice app has launched for BlackBerry today, making quick searches much easier to perform on your device.
The news comes from Google Voice’s Vincent Paquet who has confirmed that users will not only be able to place calls on their devices and have recipients’ calls display the Google Voice number, but it will also make it possible to view voicemail transcripts within the application as opposed to through the mobile web.

Why is there an image from the Android version of the app?
Not for the Storm
It appears to call a dial-a-round number and send a data string at the same time (with the number you want to call), which connects you pretty much instantly (on the BB) clever. It basically eliminates the part where you have to dial a number after you enter a dial-a-round gateway. It would be much more useful if it just called you back (of gave you the option to do that) as I get free incoming calls and this would save me a fortune. How it is constructed now I have to dial a US long distance number on my BB.. which is non-starter being in Canada.
Navigating the Gvoice site on my BB browser is a much cheaper alternative, as I can just click to dial, but it is a bit of a hassle.

What I don’t understand, and maybe someone can explain it to me. Why is it that people post tweets and re-tweets in the response/reply section of the article they are tweeting about? Doesn’t make any sense to me. :-O
Also, a tad more info on the highlighted app/service would be nice too!
Also, it would have been nice if they would have stated that the service is by INVITE at this time. Come on Guys and Gals, don’t you think that it would have been something slightly important to add to the article?
i jus download Google voice mail but it need invite:( any can invite my please
thanks

Miss Kitty, Did you submit ur email address while there?
Hello Charles i give my e-mail address, is any problem???
having just re-read your post, was wondering if you went to http://www.google.com/voice? There you have to submit your email address in order to get an invite. That is what I was talking about.
yes i do it already Chales thanks i was wondering if any could do it other ways…. when they get the invite like when Gmail was open
I live in the US, am travelling to Canada. Wondering if any US users have tried Google Voice in Canada and whether the 1 cent per minute held true. I have Verizon.
Kpup, it works in Canada, but beware – you will still be charged international roaming (both voice and data) while up here, and the access number you call to get into the Gvoice system will be a US number, so it will be very expensive.
