A new Twitter client has hit the BlackBerry world, this one by Handmark. TweetCaster, is a free* Twitter app that is available exclusively for BlackBerry.
The user interface looks fairly clean, and it comes with all the basic Twitter functionality. Some of the features you’ll find with this client include:
• Ability to toggle between multiple accounts
• URL shortening
• Picture sharing
• One-step @reply and retweet capabilities
• GPS locator to find Twitter friends near you
• Real-time trending topics list
TweetCaster is currently the only Twitter application for BlackBerry smartphones offering the ability to toggle between multiple accounts.

I initially had trouble getting this through my Storm as my browser showed a message that my phone (incorrectly listed as Bold) was not supported. But refreshing the page a few times allowed me to download the app.
Make sure you have your browser configuration set to blackberry and not another browser or else you will get that unsupported error. It worked for me after I did this then refreshed the page.

I guess I won’t be installing Tweetcaster anytime soon. With Twitter’s OAuth integration, there should be no reason why I would ever need to give my password to a 3rd party, which I apparently do to download Tweetcaster. Why would I use the client software of a company that doesn’t even follow Twitter’s own recommended practices for integration?

I like the interface, easy to read screens and especially the ability to have multiple accounts, but two MAJOR omissions bothers me, one is no aut refresh and no notifications, which would go hand in hand. If you don’t mind manually refreshing, it’s the one for you!
Now if uBerTwitter comes out with multiple account feature(s), it would be last twitter client I will ever look at!
(Are you LISTENING uBerTwitter?)
I wish I had a blackberry to try out the app.
