MyCaption is a voice to text service for BlackBerry that blends with your email, calendar, contacts, tasks and memos. The accuracy of the voice recognition technology is really impressive, even for long emails.
The company have just announced a upgrade for the product, available to all existing customers. New users can get a brief free trial too. Like previous versions, the new version 1.4.7.1 works with nearly all BlackBerry models running OS 4.2.1+, including the BlackBerry Curve, Storm, Bold, Pearl and 8800.
Here are some highlights:
For BlackBerry Storm users, a new UI with bigger buttons makes it easier to operate the voice recorder. You can hold the Storm and operate the recorder with two thumbs, in either portrait or landscape orientation.
Support for convenience key is now much more extensive. You can program it to select one of four options. You can compose a new email, or compose one of three PIM items — a task, memo or an appointment — without even looking at your BlackBerry. With a single click, you can record your voice. Another click, and you are done.
Support for secure HTTP and BlackBerry Enterprise Server is included. BES users have to simply set a “Use BES” flag to “Yes”.
Another helpful feature of this app is the option to “Review before Send”. After you dictate your email — up to 3 minutes long — you can review it, make corrections and changes, and then send it off. This gives you the peace of mind of knowing that your email will be delivered 100% the way you intended.
I’ve personally used this application for several articles on BlackBerry Cool, including to get transcripts of interviews. If you’re looking to do any significant amount of typing on your device, it’s best to start with this application, and get the lion’s share of the work done fast and efficiently.
Not one to wait around, TeleNav has notified us that they have their TeleNav GPS Navigator version 5.5 program ready to roll for the BlackBerry Tour at launch. As you’d expect, you can get turn-by-turn navigation, lowest gas prices, real time traffic and future trip planning. You can pick up the application from TeleNav’s store. If you do, the first 30 days are free.
Bell has officially announced the BlackBerry Tour 9630! The Tour is the latest BlackBerry device and it operates on both EVDO and HSPA high speed networks globally. The device is now available to purchase online and will be available at Bell Mobility stores nationally starting July 11th.
The BlackBerry Onyx has been spotted with a trackpad. Although the Tour 9630 does not have a trackpad, the BlackBerry Gemini 8520 does. This could mean that RIM is thinking of making all devices post 9630 come with a trackpad.
Is this the death of the trackball? I hope so. BlackBerry users have had to replace a ton of trackballs because they get dust/sand in them or they just simply wear out. This new strategy could mean longer lasting devices.

Perform searches on key words so you can see when people are discussing a topic of interest to you.

If there is a picture added to a tweet it will appear within the post.

Shazam is one of the coolest applications in App World. The app is an incredibly simple way to discover and purchase music. One of its features includes being able to tag a song you’re listening to, and Shazam will figure out what song it is and let you purchase it, if it’s available.
Shazam now offers full support for the BlackBerry Storm. Now, Shazam is available for all BlackBerry trackball smartphones (including the Bold, Curve and Pearl) as well as the Storm, featuring full touchscreen support.
The application works the same way as the existing Shazam application for BlackBerry handsets. Users can choose from a free basic version of Shazam with limited functionality or a full-featured version for just $4.99.
The full-featured version includes:
· Unlimited Tags
· Tag charts
· Recommendations for similar tracks
· Biographies of artists
· Reviews of tagged music
· Discographies
· The option to buy and share discovered music
Shazam is currently offering a free, seven-day trial of the full-featured version.
