Download free apps from BlackBerry App World from any country

I found this great article in the forums that shouldn’t go unnoticed. It’s a little old but hopefully someone out there gets some use from it. The how to will allow you to download the free apps from BlackBerry App World, even though RIM hasn’t officially launched in your country.

1. Download the App World .ZIP file.
2. Unzip it to your desktop
3. Copy the files net_rim_bb_appworld.cod, net_rim_bb_appworld_resource_en.cod and JavaLoader.exe to the following folder depending on your Windows OS:

4. Start CMD (Windows Key + R and then type CMD)
5. Plug-in your BlackBerry
6. Type: javaloader -u load net_rim_bb_appworld_resource_en.cod
once done type next one:
7- Type: javaloader -u load net_rim_bb_appworld.cod

Your device will now reboot and you will have App World on your device. This has been tested on the Curve 8900 and the Bold, so make sure to comment whether it works for you.

BlackBerry Storm users:

1. Download the App World .Zip file.
2. Unzip it to your desktop
3. Run the Blackberry Desktop Manager
4. Select Application Loader
5. Select Add / Remove Applications
6. Select Browse and look at your desktop for the file “appworld.alx” and select it.
7. Click Next and then Finish.

Previously i installed using this link and app world worked for 6 or 7 months. Now it gives error (upgrade your service to a plan that includes browsing ....) and wont work. Any idea why ?

it worked on my bb 8520, i'm from portugal so i shouldn't need to do this but i have a data plan for my bb and still couldn't download app world . i have tried everything. thanks

ps: just tried to enter on app world and it says that I need a data plan that allows brownsing. LOL wtf(?) some times i hate vodafone.
anyway now i have the app world so i just need to kill someone in vodafone to tell what data plan do I need!

Great one, I've tried on my BB 8900 and worked very well. It only you gives you access to the free application not the paid ones which I don't care about anyway. Here is another link to the file cause the one posted here is not working. Enjoy.

I have found another way to install BlackBerry App World 1.1 to my BOLD 4.6..

FIRST : Run this address below using your Black Berry browser :

It will ask you to install the Black Berry 1.0 to your BOLD. Ive tried it and work successful. After i connected to it, i just find the latest BB APPWORLD (1.1) through it and just upgrade it. It will restart your BOLD and after that it work perfectly...Its really working for me in here Malaysia and Im using Celcom network...

I found the file from the net, did method 1. I have BB bold 9700 on O.S 5.0.351 .. No success , phone does not show the BB appworld. In fact I had the official indian appworld but even thats gone. My apps seem to work fine. However, that does not solve the issue which is to gain access to apps from U.S. appworld. The indian one has like only 8 apps for download, all of which are crap btw. Please some help!

Over at bbhybrids.net they have an OTA link for Appworld 1.1 in the download section.
This should work on all Blackberry devices.

1. The device doesn't reboot after sending the second file.
2. After rebooting manually, I can't find the app world!

Hi Tom,
The first thing to check is the version of the BlackBerry desktop software, I installed it using v 5.0, since 5.0.1 has been released but I haven't tested it with this version.

Secondly, I'm assuming that the desktop software is registering the device as being connected to the computer? Are you using mass storage mode? If you're using mass storage mode then you may need to change this.

It sounds like the BB desktop software wasn't running, make sure that it is running and that the BB is connected to it before you start the process and try again.

Hi Carl,
You need to download the package to your computer and follow the instructions. You cannot run the package from your BlackBerry.

When running App World the first time it takes ages about 5 minutes to load up the end user agreement. Once that's done it loads app world fast. Installing apps works great!

it used to work on my bold with os 4.6.0.282 but now it's doesn't work at all at the new os 5.0.0.190/238 (i tried both) but it's still works like a charm on my wife bb curve 8320 with os 4.5.0.161 and already upgrade it to the newest appworld 1.0.0.20.
