@ed – I really can’t agree with you. If you go by the Storm one’s history, then you DEFINITELY shouldn’t buy a pre-release device. The Storm was a sluggish device until OS updates came out 6 months later that made the experience smoother.

Again, just have some patience. The Storm 2 is coming in November.

@Franky – True, you can upgrade the OS, but I don’t think you can upgrade a Storm 2 with a Storm 1 OS. I’m pretty sure they’re different builds for different devices. I could be wrong about that though.

That being said, you would just have to wait until the device launches and carriers start offering OS updates.

You can upgrade the software, so a buggy OS is not a long-term downside. The pre-release hardware is what would come back at you.
