Slacker is now available for BlackBerry Storm users! The new and improved version is available on all channels including the BlackBerry Cool store and it’s also available on App World.
One of the best features included in this latest update is that the battery life has been greatly improved while streaming music.
Here is a breakdown of the features you’ll find in the latest update:
- Improved battery life up to 2x (over previous versions) while streaming (Slacker has seen Storm devices playing up to 9 hours over 3G with this build)
- Improved usability enhancements to the interface, including a “Home” button to quickly access the station list
- Added ability to toggle the explicit content filter (on/off) from the main menu
- Addressed an issue where pausing a song for an extended period of time did not properly resume playback
- Addressed an issue where phone calls or message alerts would prevent playback from resuming properly for some listeners

It turns out we’ll be seeing the BlackBerry 8530 come to Verizon Wireless in black and lavendar. The news/rumor comes from a screenshot sent in to BerryScoop with two BlackBerry 8530 SKUs. While the SKUs aren’t for the actual devices, but for dummy phones rather, it’s still a good indication that we’ll be seeing these colors soon.
What colors would you like to see your BlackBerry in?

The BlackBerry Developer’s Blog is posting very regularly like a good blog should while Inside BlackBerry hasn’t had a post in almost a week. It’s truly a shame in that Inside BlackBerry could be a very popular place for users to get an inside look at both RIM and BlackBerry, but the blog simply lacks enough content.
The BlackBerry Developer’s Blog, on the other hand, has had almost 2 posts per day since launch and the content is both interesting and helpful.
Here is a brief roundup of what you can find on the BlackBerry Developer’s Blog:

Crazy John’s in Australia is offering the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 for free, with a $39 BlackBerry Service Cap. As with most plans, the headlines don’t tell the whole story.
The plan requires that you sign up for 2 years at a $40 per month, and with that you get unlimited email and internet. Be warned though, that calls are charged at 47 cents per 30 seconds, with a 35 cent initial charge.
While the calls are expensive, this truly is the best BlackBerry bundle deal we have seen to date. To get a BlackBerry Pearl 81XX from Wal-Mart, you need to sign on to a service plan of $99.99 per month or higher and in conjunction with any feature or bundle or any other plan option at least $24.99 per month or greater.

There isn’t much to say here but the Curve 8520 is set to launch in Spain come September. There isn’t any word on what carriers it will launch on or whether it will come as a Pay-As-You-Go model, but we’ll keep you updated.
Expect a lot of news like this to come this month as RIM’s business development team sign deals with carriers around the world.
